Systems Analysis is a professional discipline. The process requires a lot of knowledge and insight, principles, methods and techniques, etc.. Where is the official standard of the waterfall saying you can not return to an early stage or doing in a design phase some additional analysis activities? What matters is to succeed, not following invented rules making no sense. Be practical.
