- On the NCL Escape "free" casino cruise, the Cagney's steakhouse is usually a paid dining venue, but it was a part of the NCL FREE AT SEA promo so I tried it!
FYI the sauce at the Golden Steer is $5 a sauce. if you want Maitre d'Butter, thats also $5.

And I think the vegetable on top of the crab cake was radish. 🤷🏻♀️ If everytime I ate a dish, it tasted the exact same, life would be kind of boring. Live a little and appreciate variety.
Thank you. My past experience with oyster rockefellers where that the spinach was much less, sometimes blended with the cheese, and the oyster piece was larger...

I've done Cagney's once on a cruise in 2018. I only got one appetizer and one side, didn't know at the time you could get more. The ribeye was pretty good though!
YES YES, this is why I go through the extra work of asking questions, so viewers can get as much info as possible. I grilled that lady for a good 7 minutes!

Desserts at the fine dining places are usually a cut above what they serve elsewhere on the ship. The apple pie might have had actual apple slices! It sounds like NCL are behind the other cruise lines at overall steakhouse food though, so who knows? And as a working man myself, I consider "fine dining" to be like sitting in the deluxe box seats at the ball game - I know seats for $25 where I'm perfectly happy with my experience. But some people NEED that "premium" experience, and if they're willing to pay for it, that's fewer people in front of me in the line at Shake Shack.
Now I regret not ordering the dessert!

😂 I don't know why, but you had me laughing with the bread and butter. It looks like radishes were on top of the crab cake. The crab cake kind of looks like a cross between a crab cake and crab imperial. Oysters Rockefeller is made with spinach. Holy molly, they are some very small oysters. The steak looked delicious. How were the truffle fries?

DANNY THE MEDIC- The waiter said the butter was UNSALTED (this is mostly meant for people putting on top of steak) you could have asked for the usual SALTED butter…

We ate there last month for our Alaska cruise- different ship but still NCL Cruise line! Everything was delicious except the rib eye I ordered was 16 oz! There’s no way I will finish that 16 oz! I was able to eat barely half the rest went to waste! I wish i could have taken it to go! The fried shrimp was delicious!
I am thinking of traveling NCL for my birthday next August, so I am taking notes. I love the detailed reviews.

I heard "unsalted" butter.
That would be why it tastes strange. Typically unsalted butter is what you bake with not serve like this. Without the salt all you get is a mouthful of fat.

DANNY THE MEDIC- The 3 appetizers plus dessert is what I would have chosen- I would have been full anyways and I prefer something sweet after a high-end meal… At least they gave you several options- nice Cruise Line!!! ❤💯👍🛳️

When will you do more cruise also think about getting off the ship there are alot of free stuff to do in theemsw places bermuda has free beaches and you can walk with no issues..NCL has new shipa and hace you thought of trying pricess celebrity or virgin my fav is ncl
I only did them because they were free, and NYC had ports so it was easy. I dont get off ships unless necessary, or unless the weather is nice.. hot humid and sunny just aint me
My husband and I are sailing on the NCL Bliss in April to Alaska we booked ocean blue the seafood restaurant and Cagney’s was looking at the onion soup and crab cake not sure now 😮 😅. Maybe they were having I bad day but at least the steak was good !
we never know what the future may bring! if the cagney sucked, be sure to tell them to not charge your room so you can eat elsewhere~

Danny, Oysters Rockefeller ALWAYS comes with spinach inside. Also, they told you the sauce was FREE. NOPE! There was a $3.00 charge on your bill (even though you had a package, the regular guy in that steakhouse had to pay $3.00 for SAUCE, LOL! I'd stick with the buffet on the cruise ship. That way, if you don't like something, there are tons of other things that you can have there instead! Happy Holidays!

DTM I think the chef from O'sheehan's Pub is following you. He used the broth from your beef & vegetable soup that you did not finish to create your baked onion soup and used unfinished lemonades for the hollandaise sauce. He also knows you don't like vegetables, so he put them on every dish to look like a garnish. He sure knows how to cook a nice steak though.
Potato Potato sides. Should of gotten the Frenchy Fries and the garlic mushrooms. Probably whipped European butter.
I would have asked the steak to be cooked medium rare and Chicago style sear (on both sides).

Last year on NCL. I was charged extra for the crab cake. I'm going next month on the NCL Prima on new year. I'm going to eat at the steak house. I hope they don't charged me extra.

So if I assume that the gratuity is at 18% (not unusual for cruise ships), the dinner would be $72... which I get is not bad if you were to look at the a la carte menu at a fancy steakhouse.
BUT a look at the menu of the Ruth's Chris in my area shows $89 CDN for a starter/entree/side/dessert. So it doesn't seem like great value on it's own and Danny was getting a bargain by only paying the tip.
Glad you asked for a replacement for the soup. Never hurts to ask, especially since it's obvious that you haven't had much of it.
I just looked up ruth chris, the ones near me says $$$$ as the price category! I might try them at the next restaurant week deal, photos from google shows dinner then to be 40 bucks 4 years ago.
@@dannythemedic Yep, it's pricey. But that's the type of steakhouse Cagney's is trying to emulate, so it made sense to me to do that price comparison. Definitely not an everyday meal. But maybe that can be the next subscriber milestone special?

Most popular soup is lobster bisque. Le Bristo is much better than Cagney’s imo.
I had whipped butter from a tub (supermarket) but this butter in the video was very different even from that... more watery like cottage cheese? it was really really soft and it wasnt even that warm in the dining room... never had butter like that before

Good information to that you can ask the front desk girl if you change get another appetizer instead of a dessert. I hear that tip is paid in advance before the cruise starts. You didn't really have to pay the tip at the restaurant, did you?
yes, they charged me the gratuity for this specific meal when I booked the cruise. this was in addition to the 20 a day gratuity
