I have been listening to this since I was 12, I'm 24 now and it's still an amazing song. kudos 12 year old me for having great taste. I found it randomly on audio-galaxy before it got shut down. This and the Aphex Twin version are so good.
Ah man!, i knew about this track, but ive never heard the original, I heard Aphex Twins Remix on the 26 Mixes For Cash! /watch?v=EF0CK2ZzKMU Its great to hear the original, But crazy because all i knew the AFX remix
Where the night draws on Crevices deep down to me At last my memories are free That let my fish loose Trace the spiral alone Here in the fifth lake Shadows and the silence Time creeps on the night Everyday everyday I wonder How long we gwan suffer Man all broke him back to earn a dollar And things nor get better just worser Man all hang himself true him can't take pressure That's what going on in my area Deeper and deeper in burning fire Is like they want we to turn into ashes and blow away forever But I won't quiver or shiver Just simmer and wait for the father Fish and miller or deep sea Fish with eyes of blue Feeding on the blue seeds Swimming through my mind
Interesting to see this. I've supected for a while now that another track off this album sounds too much like a track off Timeless.. chances are this album was doing the rounds in London and directly influenced DnB to turn Jazzy in the mid 90s.
Martin, yes, that is what I thought too. After all the album feels very much like a London one, like one Gilles Peterson would praise and play every day.
In the early days all the best dnb was massively influenced (or ripped off of if that's your opinion) by jazz. Damn I loved it... into the 90's by Photek was such a massive influence on my musical taste back when I was just getting into dnb after a childhood of loving jazz. Add to that Luke Vibert (as Plug) with Drum and bass for papa a few years later... Yeesh!

What is he singing?
Where the night draws on
Crevices deep down to me
At last my memories are free
That let my fish loose
Trace the spiral alone
Here in the fifth lake
Shadows and the silence
Time creeps on the night
Everyday everyday I wonder
How long we gwan suffer
Man all broke him back to earn a dollar
And things nor get better just worser
Man all hang himself true him can't take pressure
That's what going on in my area
Deeper and deeper in burning fire
Is like they want we to turn into ashes and blow away forever
But I won't quiver or shiver
Just simmer and wait for the father
Fish and miller or deep sea
Fish with eyes of blue
Feeding on the blue seeds
Swimming through my mind
Wow-cheers
Anyone have an opinion on the meaning of the lyrics?
daisuki!

sounds like the same baseline from the start of Pharoah Sanders / The Creator Has A Master Plan /watch?v=QZ6lB7FKxi8
Same bass, mostly the same melody as Blame - 360 clic.

And actually the influence in the London scene was so great that it had a remix album of not small names...
