Day 3 of a show is the "I'm getting a deal because the vendor doesn't want to pack up his material" deal day. I've gotten some fantastic bulk fire agate that way, but I wasn't going looking for anything in particular.

I love that Sara made a surprise visit! Lol! That was awesome! And your intarsia work may not be perfect but they are better than damn good for a first, second, and third try at it. But I know how you are because I used to be very much like you. That said, those are all three damn good! If we were not looking under a microscope to see the flaws, the. They wouldn't have been noticed. I know you won't settle for anything but the best possible that you can possibly do. And that bar is so far above others best, so while you're striving for perfection, give yourself the satisfaction of knowing that your 1st, 2nd, & 3rd try are already better than some people's very best. It was another great SNS! Thanks Jared!

      Thank you!
I do like making these, and I think the very best way to improve is to be critical of what I'm doing and look for ways to improve.

I’m really fascinated by the intarsia! I cut some small basinite slabs today for the first time on my trim saw and by the 4th or 5th one i figured out how to not cut triangular slabs. 🙄 Cutting black slabs on a black surfaced HiTech trim saw was challenging. Next time i think I’ll put a strip of white vinyl tape on the work surface for contrast. Now I’m searching through my rocks for some potential center piece. Fun! I’ve got a long way to go for my first piece but I’m thinking I’ll get there. Thanks for the inspiration. A future intarsia video for beginners from you would be awesome. I’ve purchased Bill Boggs book and it is a very helpful book for beginners. Thanks Jared!

I used to work at a glass shop and we had a wet sander we used to work on glass. We had a cork belt for it and it was used to polish the sanded edges of the glass. I have used it on granite and to the naked eye it did a wonderful job.

Fun fact: Flyers and our road signs are the #1 and #2 reasons people give for where they saw the Lakeside show was happening and why they came. All traditional forms of advertising (radio, television, newspapers) yield negligible returns.

I only knew about my local rock shows from flyers and the sides of buses. Until there's a Rockhound Radio Hour I don't think you're getting people from the airwaves.

Hi! I just pressed play, this shall be my goodnight story of the evening. I vividly remember you giving me a follow for what must be a few years back now, and since my life has been a continous roller coaster ever since, I've still not managed to upload a single video of me cutting any rocks. However! After finally getting a tile saw just before easter, still haven't cut anything with it 🙄 I got a push notification on my phone telling me there's a 1998 Lortone Beaver BA62 machine and a 8" trim saw for sale second hand. Long story short, I've now got this standing in my 27sqm flat, I've got rocks for years to come already, and the piles keep growing! I will get around to posting at some point, I promise, and I can't put words to how excited I am, but I'm sure you know what feeling I'm talking about. Now all I need is a space without neighbours, am I crazy for thinking about one of them portable little diesel generators? Just stuff that bastard, some camping gear, and the cat in the back of the van? Oh well, I much enjoy your content, so thanks, You're a true inspiration!

@@CurrentlyRockhounding Thanks Also, if accumulating piles of rock all over is sticking with it, then yes sir, I'm sticking with it. I'ts what I prefer to do with life, I'm happiest whilst silently strolling, half bent over, looking for treasure in nature, it's a damn shame it doesn't pay better!

A 100K Diamond Belt would be a sockdolager. BTW It would be good to see an episode comparing polishing compounds/polishing materials on various rock types. I think that you are the right man, with an apparent sciencey mind, to evaluate the results. 😄

Intarsia is a perfect way to highlight the beauty of rocks and gems. It's God's paintbrush. So, they're a little thick. Just don't go swimming with an Intarsia necklace and problem solved.
