Skyrim: How To Make An OP ILLUSION Build Early

- A how to guide on the set up of an Overpowered Illusion mage early on legendary difficulty. Played on the most recent version of Skyrim the special edition, no mods were installed during the playthrough.
This build is an Illusion based mage character with a focus on using Illusion spells such as frenzy, pacify and call to arms. Frenzy to make enemies fight each other, pacify to clam the survivors and call to arms to buff your followers.
Continuing on later into the game I recommend a secondary damage skill such as archery, conjuration or destruction as a way to add some damage to the build.
The dawnstar chest will not work if playing on the unofficial skyrim patch.

Anthony Bonilla fast working builds are relatively important again now that the multiplayer mod is out.
It's one of the few games where you can be damn near anything, bugs actually make it better, and you don't need a subscription.

It's a prank to fool the enemy to fight their leaders. And you should have the necromage perk and you need no followers or weapons.

Illusion is one of the overlooked schools. (Bassically everything except destruction) but is very overpowered! Thanks for this guide!
@@dvoloschik Yeah i can see your point. Personaly for those situations i would use invisibility and mix in a dagger or something because i think you're right in saying it's hard to stay just illusion.
illusion is hard to make work by itself, Ideally you would use a second skill as a source of damage. However I still believe it is very OP being able to turn enemies against each other in a fight and then calm then down after
Sadly, Illusion quickly lose usefulness in the later game, when you start hitting the 45-60 Level, it is basically useless really, since enemies are going to be too high of level to get affected by the spells. That is why it is overlook really.
What Oscar gonzales said - even IF you try very hard and make an illusion build work, after 45-50lvl your spells simply won't affect your enemies, making the build completely worthless in late-game.
I havn't really had a problem with illusion not working on enemies, if you have all of the perks and dualcast (multiplies level it can affect by 2.2), are a vampire (multiplies by 1.25) and use fortify illusion potions you can probably hit any enemy that isn't immune.
The amount of sweet rolls you can steal with this illusion build is immeasurable!

Just get conjuration to 100 and maybe the wabbajack and boom, turn people into sweet rolls or give people sweet rolls. Or give people other people that were turned into sweet rolls

I once made an illusion build from scratch, without really knowing anything about illusion magic. Frenzy, fear, calm and invisibility eventually came to my grasp naturally. 2° most op build I ever played, never broke a sweat in the whole playtrough, really surprised me how OP you can accidentally become in this game.

Well if you think about it, it happens quite easily. Instead of clubbing bandits and whatever you can make them club eachothers to death, or just let you pass unharmed. Or sneak around without being seen or heard. The sneakiness alone lets you bypass most battles if you so wish, so its actually probably very peaceful way to play.

I remember starting this game and looking for tutorials to get a good start and then I found this channel. Man, so many ideas for different play throughs come to mind but I always end up a two handed warrior
Fear is a good one, possibly underrated. Fevvy had an "OP vampire guide" where you basically fight Astrid. There he showed his character using Pacify and then backstabbing her. I tried it too, but it didn't work - for some reason Pacify restored her health. So I used Fear. It made her run around in the shack, the fight was a lot easier and I gained an extra level of One-Handed. It's a really useful spell, it makes your enemies run away and cower in fear while you can just pummel them to death unmolested.
I remember how in Oblivion you could make your own spells. I made a frenzy spell that sets everyone on fire. The area spanned the entirety of the Imperial Marketplace and the chaos that ensued was amazing.
That one of the things I wished that they added to skyrim, Creating spells in Oblivion was so much fun!
Making spells oblivion was pretty OP though. I made a spell which gave immunity to physical damage and high resistance to magic damage, combined with armour you basically become unkillable.

I once mad an illusion necromancer who never dirtied his hands with any destruction combat unless necessary always preferring to make puppets fight his enemies instead

Fun tip use frenzy on dark brotherhood contracts. Basically it will turn the nearby npcs hostile to the contract and only count as an assault charge meaning that you can take out most contracts for 40 gold.

I was literally doing this the other day bc I had mayhem and didn’t know frenzy would work even better.
Just casting mayhem at the wedding was absolutely hilarious to see the bride and groom slashing eachother.
My favorite build is the illusion assassin. Daggers and invisibility are pretty op with the right gear and perks. Up to 30x damage.
With a orc and you use beserkers rage you get 60x damage

My favorite build is illusion+conjuration mage. A couple alteration spells here and there and it's practically untouchable. It is so op that I can play with touchpad.
I love how skyrim gives you so many options to choose from. I mean you can be vampire, mage, you can go with a stealth build etc. And then there's me who just takes the best axe or sword he finds on the ground after he kills someone and goes through the whole game with it GG EZ style xD
I love that about it as well, you can play however you want, its so good!

Illusion is OP AF combined with sneak. a calmed opponent won't look you up so you can steal everything or backstab them (on the rare case where you don't 1-shot everyone, just re-cast calm\pacify). same with invisibility, but calm only break on attack (invisibility break on any action), and can be casted from level 1 pretty easy. one of my favorite builds is illusion + one handed + sneak.

One of my favorite ways to play is a stealthy illusion/necromancer. I think it is quite possibly the cruelest and most evil way to play. You force brother to kill brother, then when one is dead, you raise them up and force them to fight again. Positively sinister.
Most Master spells are hot garbage, especially including Master Illusion.

I would realy like to see a vampire build from you, it would be interesting to see how you get op fast as a vampire, because you're kind of in it for the long haul as a vampire.

Honestly, your best bet for a vampire is probably to run this exact build, then get infected and work on stealth + one-handed. All the static vampire bonuses synergize nicely with an illusionist build.
@@leoncaruthers I was thinking this exact thing when I saw the OP. A quick way to get infected would then be to simply do the early part of dawnstar, plus yknow Vamp Lord :P
@@Fevvy you could do a dual wield vampire with harkons sword I made a vampire who has a harkons sword with 200+ damage and a blade of woe though a daedric or dragon bone dagger would be better.

This was super helpful!! I just started an Illusion build for the first time. She's a Breton named Morgan Le Fay. She realized she had a talent for the school as a child when she finally had enough of her abusive father so she focused really hard with the same thought in her head. She thought "Kill yourself" and directed the thought towards her father. He did just that exactly how she imagined and his reign of terror was over. People probably don't care about my characters back story, but I just thought I'd share. Great Video!
I know this is a year old but I might use this for a D&D character. Nice backstory.
I love illusion. Definitely the most underrated along with restoration. I'll pair illusion with my conjuration or destruction. My mage is usually mastering every school. They all have uses. Some utilized more than most. I'll cast the turn undead from restoration when I'm fighting skeletons and mages at the same time. Then I'll cast frenzy I think it's called on the mages and have wards up while the mages tearing up the undead. I'll then finish off whoever's left with atronachs and fireballs

An illusion sneak build on modded Skyrim is the most fun I had in awhile on the game. I mod it to add many of the wonderful magic packs on the nexus to add even more fun illusion spells! It is hilarious to blast through dark brother hood quests by just making the target go mad and die from the local guards.

You can use a bowl to flip through the wall of the college, then quickly turn to find the NPC’s inventory chests just under their living area. You have to be quick as you’re falling.

Very similar to "A Spiffing Brit". Fun content. I did an illusion / assassin build on my second playthrough. Dual wield Blade of Woe. Calm is the ultimate "get out of jail free" card, and resets any accidental aggro from the townfolks, too. Perfect for "Sith / Jedi" builds.

illusion assassin type has always been my favorite... sow chaos among enemies from the shadows and wait for the opportunity to strike. Doesn't exactly work like that in Skyrim, but the thought is nice
You can use the pacify spell + backstabs. Very OP build as you can just keep pacifying and backstabbing lol.
Muffle invisibility sneak to room cast mayham watch them fight it out.

first 3 mins is literally how i ALWAYS start a new game XD glad u showed that to others to make them richer (without abusing bugs or merchant chests) (wow nvm just watched thru rest of video and saw u do that lul) also when im really in need of money i f5 before riding to riften to try to get diamond necklaces and rings in chests in 3 towers near riften :) nice content, gonna watch ur other vids after this, keep it up!

Really good video. I had character builds that would use all skill trees except illusion and was planning on making a high elf with illusion so this works perfectly.

A fully minmaxed dagger in the right, invisibility in the left, full magic immunity with necromage vampire, 0 cost for illusion, already having full muffle on boots, max sneak crit with brotherhood hands
That is the most powerful build there is.

Very fun to take a sneaky approach to the game
So for this build I highly suggest becoming a vampire and using fortify illusion potions to increase the level of enemies you can effect significantly also I advise getting the summon flaming familiar spell as it is some of the best damage you can get early game and the spell can have an insane summoning range so you can effectively take down a giant camp from insane distances very early game without any issues

@@Fevvy btw easiest place to get vampirism early is by going to chill wind depths I believe it is called which is a vampire infested ruin past the secret talos shrine and the conjurer table directly south of the lover stone in the middle of the lake
@@Fevvy in the late game I can't cast fear or frenzy on the ebony warrior without dual casting so it works wonders
dont forget to contract vampirism, it has a passive that makes your illusion spells 25% more powerful.
