I've been using the watch for exactly two months now, and these are the main problems I'm facing:
- Lack of apps. Only 4 additional apps are available, and I found that only the Calculator app from them is useful. For example "Notion" would be good, if it recorded voice memos from the watch, unfortunately, it works just as a remote controller to start recording voice on the phone. Same with "My Tuner" - just for controlling what's playing on the phone.
- No ability to reply to messages. Some brands let's you write letter by hand, speak to reply, choose an emoji to send or they even implement small keyboards (numeric, like on "dumb-phones"), but there is no option at all here, and that is pretty bad for a smart watch.
- Alexa was not supported in my country, but I found a workaround - changed the region in Mi Fitness app to Ireland and that did the trick. Unfortunately after a few questions, it stucks on "Listening" screen and the only way to make the assistant work again is to restart the whole device.
- As mentioned in other comments, device sometimes stops working and needs restarting.
- No contacts app. If you haven't talked to that person from the watch (for example, received or missed a call), you won't be able to call that person. I can't believe that synchronization of the contacts - absolutely basic thing - is missing in the device that has an ability to make Bluetooth calls.
- Paying with NFC is available for me here in Lithuania, but it's very inconvenient - there is no quick shortcut for the wallet app, so basically every time you want to pay, you need to scroll through all the apps, find the Wallet app, and usually enter a 6 number security code that you set (because the so called "session" expires quite quickly), so paying with just a regular bank card is usually much faster.
So for me, the device feels like a bigger Mi Band with an added GPS, but not a smart watch - many features that other brands are offering for the same price are missing. If Xiaomi at least made an ability to publish customs apps, like an app store (or people found a way how to install them), it would make the device much better. There is no calendar, no events reminder, no maps or at least text navigation for walking, no voice memos recording on the watch, no relationship with the phone itself (can't, for example, change phone to silent mode or see if i the phone battery has charged), no way to control smart devices (even Xiaomi made), no habbit trackers and so on. I'm a developer myself, so if there was a way to publish and install custom apps, I would probably try to make some small ones, but unfortunately it seems that this is a very closed device, with apps available that only Xiaomi approves, and this is not fixed together with the problems with Alexa, NFC payment, replying to messages and etc., it will forever stay more like a fitness tracker, but not the smart watch. And it really sucks, because the hardware of the device is amazing, the battery lasts long, GPS, the heart rate sensor, sleep data is accurate. It would be a perfect device, if they just released some software-based upgrades.

Maybe there is something different but i dont have any problems with connectivity and to change a watchface it takes like 10 seconds but im using a xiaomi device
For me, I had issues with my band, it didn't connect/sync. and sometimes even after manual syncing it did see but acted as if didn't, doesn't say why and all features seemingly are on for things to work fine. I looked it on google, useless as always, spent hours on turning some things of and some off until I stublmed upon some things, which led me to solve all issues at once. Main thingz Zepp life app must run on the background at all times and it's located with few other permissions that always must be on.
My xiaomi watch s1 active unable to download any watchface if the watchface size bigger than 2Mb.

Just bought this and I think I would have had more bang for my buck if I bought a samsung instead. I hope they'll add more features through updates, yet having to wait for this feels frustrating...

So I’ve had a s1 active for 3 months now on a xiaomi phone. Connectivity is solid, only takes 15-20 secs to download and apply a new watch face. Alexa works without issues and NFC payment works fine in the UK, but you have to use a curve card

My problem is similar related to sync. But now even if a sync it in the app I never receive notifications and the steps count aren’t synced. I had to make a hard reset to making work but it only works for a week. I miss my band 😢

Mi pay doesn't work in South Korea either even I have master card. Tranportation NFC card also not working. Long lasting battery that is only good thing. Need to support localization.

Sve je to katastrofa jer sat ne radi uopšte bez App (mi fitnes) koja kao i sve drugo stalno nešto baguje, update zezne nešto, ne rade funkcije. Sve je ovo jedna velika prevara a sam sat, iako ok hardwerski, jedno neupotrebljivo sranje zbog app.

I bought this watch 2 months ago. A new problem started these last couple of weeks. Watch stops working by itself. It shuts down randomly and I cannot turn it on. It's currently off when I'm writing this. It won't turn on, and the thing is it's fully charged. I don't understand what the problem is. It stays like this for hours. And when it finally turns on, it looses a lot of energy. Last time it was 39%, turned off randomly. Wouldn't turn on no matter what I tried. When it finally turned on, it showed 15% battery. What do you think the problem is? Battery problem or system issue? Should I return it to the store?

Nou dacht trotse bezitter te zijn van de Watch 1, heb na een dag al spijt! en voor dat geld wat ik ervoor heb uitbesteed, maar 3 apps, hij sychoniseert niet van watch naar telefoon, in de watch staan de gegevens maar op mijn mobiel mis ik wel het 1en ander, hartslag wat auto aanstaan, stappen, etc, dit is nu mijn tweede watch, en heb nog van geen 1 kunnen genieten, ook niet van de amazfit gtr3, hoezo watervast? gelijk beslagen en alles op hol, misschien dat ik nog 1 poging ga doen, en anders gaat mijn geld wel ergens anders heen bah!

Hi guys, my Xiaomi Mi Watch S1 active answers phone calls from my phone automatically without me having the possibility of accepting/declining them.
Is there any setting I may have enabled or I am overlooking? I'd like to disable this annoying behavior.
I tried to reset the watch and also uninstall and clear the storage/cache of the app on my smartphone and configure it from scratch.

I decided to pull go for it. ....it was a mistake! It's an oversized fitness band (not really a smart watch) and a bad one at that. The appearance of everything meets expectations, but the substance, data detail, accuracy, and functionality are all missing. I can't see that any of the results other than perhaps the step counter or GPS tracking are accurate to a useful degree. The sleep data appears to be entirely based off of heart rate (which is a flawed model), and there is no indication that the heart rate tracking is any better than Mi Watch, which was ok, but not excellent. I can't recommend this "watch" if you care about the data quality, and I can't recommend it if you want other features (there basically are none and there are no apps that work with it because it's a proprietary OS). Two thumbs down! I'm going to sell mine.
