Jacob i grew up in San Antonio and i tell you I've walked past that museum zillions of times and never gone in and my mind is FULLY BLOWN!! Thanks for showing me what i was missing!!
When I read the as "The Greatest Museum Ever" .... I was curious to see what you seen to come to this conclusion. I must say Jacob .... you were right, this place looks awesome. Thanks so much for sharing this awesome place !!!!!
Dang! That's the single greatest one stop shop of freakness and taxidermy I've ever witnessed. A new item is on the bucket list. Thanks for documenting this joint Jacob.
I’ve been there, it’s really cool and totally unexpected. My husband and I went there to escape the heat and thorough enjoyed the museum. It’s chocked full of stuff and you can sit down and eat at the saloon/cafe. And it’s such a Texas place... big, full of antlers, full of taxidermy, and the Texas Rangers exhibits are awesome.
I’m from SA and my bro and I used to work for Phillips Entertainment the company that owns the buckhorn. We walked through there it was fun! We locals just call it ‘the buckhorn’ for short.
Carpetbagger this is your best blog I have ever seen in love how you show way more then Adam but he has his cool stuff too.. Wild stuff to see at that place so cool. I wish I could go and see stuff like that...
William E I like Adam but I love Jacob's blogs I can keep up with him and his so cute so I totally agree. and you can pause on posters or wall noticed so you can read um
Carpetbagger, The Longhorn Museum use to be located at the Lone Star Brewery about 5 to 7-miles south until the Brewery closed it's doors in the early 1980's... I use to go there on field trips in Elementary School in the 1960's...
I worked at the Buckhorn Hall of Horns at the Lone Star Brewery from '73 to '85 as a tour guide. The brewery's owner(Pres,CEO, Board Chairman)Harry Jersig is responsibld for saving that magnificent collection from being split up. A man very proud of his Texas history, an avid huntef and avid conservationist, Jersig purchased the original Buckhorn Saloon after it closed and added it onto the brewery as a tourist attraction to the already beautiful brewery grounds. He set it up with many original pieces of yhe pold saloon itself, including a very worn brass rail, upon which many a boot set down. Naturally, the old brass spittoons were set alongside the bar as well. The Hall of Horns was set up in halls...Asian, African, European, North American, and Texas(in the center, and biggest, of course.)Then he added a Hall of Fins. Later a Hall of Feathers, a Hall of Texas History Wax Museum, Toepperwein Gallery(A fantastic marksman(Google what he did with his 22 cal Winchester and a huge pile of wooden blocks) along with his wife "Plinky", a great shot, herself, were honored. Jersig also bought and moved the O'Henry House to add on. It was where Willam Sydney Porter(O'Henry.. pen name) stayed while in San Antonio. The brewery got bought out by a number of bigger breweries over the years(I had moved on into sales from '85 to '90), and the final purchaser apparently did not have the interest in maintaining the brewery or the museum complex. I'm very happy to know someone bought a lot of the museum and set it up so nicely. Looking back...it was one helluva good company...Lone Star Brewing Co, Inc...and I'm proud to have been an employee and to have been part of it.
just there a month before you it is amazing I havent posted my vids yet but everytime I past the Roosevelt statue I kept saying out loud robin Williams.? they have a zoltar in the front as well. you reeeally need to visit during the hispanic festival in april. most amazing thing ive ever been to. thousands of people.
He’s been to Wisconsin quite a few times. He had a bunch of videos he did in Wisconsin Dells. It’s funny because i never thought of visiting Wisconsin except to visit a friend or two in Milwaukee, but his videos actually made me want to go. Especiallly the House on the Rock and the dells seem like a fun slice of Americana!
Oh man William S. Hart is the man who sorta founded my hometown of Santa Clarita CA. If you ever go to Six Flags Magic Mountain you can go to his house and see a bunch cool old Hollywood and Cowboy stuff.
The original one WAS the Buckhorn Saloon downtown in 1881. The Lone Star Brewing Co. purchased the entire collection to save it. It was divided into the Asian Hall, African Hall, European Hall, North American Hall, and the Texas Hall( in the very center and, of course, the largest hall 😀) The brewery greatly expanded it all by adding the Hall of Fins( the fish collection), the Hall of Feathers, the Hall of Texas History Wax Museum, and the OHenry House(where once lived the author William Sydney Porter.)I worked at the Buckhorn Museum from 1973-85. I'm so glad that someone bought it all to keep it together after the brewey closed down.Looks like they've done a SUPER job! Hope to visit there soon to take it all in again.
I see, someone, is in taxidermy heaven! Would you like to live in that place? And always admire the taxidermy, walking through the building? I see someone has a big grin, from ear to ear! I would like to go to that place now! A must-plan destination!
I have to question that taxidermy horse being William S. Hart's horse. First the horse in the vintage photo is not the same taxidermy horse because the difference in markings. Secondly, Hart's famous paint horse was named Fritz and buried at Hart's ranch in Newhall, Ca. Because of the unique markings Hart never had a double for Fritz. He owned other horses, but none I found named Calico. He also buried all his pets, including his horses, on his ranch. He was an animal lover and not a fan of taxidermy. I live near this ranch, which is a museum and familar William S Hart's history. If you haven't already been there, you should check it out.
You Guys are Crazy. (Greetings to AtW.) Next time you're in Chicago, check out The Field Museum. Lots of old time, turn of the 20th century taxidermy on display (Bushman - gorilla, Lions of Tsavo, elephants, buffalo, many many birds). Maybe you've already been there - you said you lived up here before Going South. Geek On, my friend.

My christ that place must be huge!
When he first walked in and you see all the dead animals, it looked like he just walked into Gaston's pub in Disney.

I'm only 10 years old and I love the Carpet bagger
I went to San Antonio recently and WANTED to go here, but we were on limited time, so I didn't get to go. Thank you for this!! :)
This place is phenomenal!!
Omg u make us laugh , all the places you go are the things we'd want to see while holidaying from Australia!
If you like that mystery house, you should do a road trip to Grants pass Oregon and go to their mystery house
7:50 - That place is HUGE!
3:46 The guy narrating through the speakers sounds like Alex Jones.
Not sure it's not him... Lmao
This museum is cool. Very unusual as well!
Cool I loved the cats and the Guard
2:16 I can't help but think of Gaston's chair from Beauty and the Beast when I saw that red chair 😂

The deer with a crooked antler is a non typical

Did you eat while you were there? I see they have tables set up. And if so, what is the food like?
So much better then the original one at the Lone Star Brewery. Got to visit again.

Great vlog Jacob, thank you for sharing 👍👏
At 6:22 all I can think of is,
‘Run Forest, run!”
That awkward moment when you have a cat named Lynx, and the ad goes "the world belongs to Lynx." No kidding
Thank you for this cool video. I actually went to William S Hart High School in Newhall California. It is right near William S Hart Park.
I've watched this at least 5 times.

I don’t want to ruin the magic, but, that’s actually a xoloitzcuintle, a dog breed typic from Mexico
This reminds me of Ripleys believe it or not
I have an irrational fear of taxidermy and this video was the scariest thing I’ve ever seen
Aww i like when you are happy
I see bald eagles all the time there rare but I see one like every once in a while I live in Tennessee 😊🦅
