Eastern dragon always looks elegant compared to western dragon, both have a great design, but i prefer a dragon that slithering in the sky than a dragon that flapping in the sky.

Henry Well I’m making a world where mythical creatures live, the Otherworld (original IKR) and each creature has a specific trait or role and the dragons are all wise beings that live in solitude, collecting knowledge, wealth and wisdom over the years. Younger dragons go to a special university or are mentored by elder dragons to know the secrets of the world and all who inhabit it. The dragons aren’t all the same since some stay in their caves to continue learning while others leave to teach others what they know. They’re typically teachers and/or librarians in the human world and Otherworld but most typically stay away from humans because of all the killings and hunting (remember all the stories of princes slaying dragons?)

The Bakunawa is a serpent-like dragon in Philippine mythology. It is believed to be the cause of eclipses, earthquakes, rains, and wind. The movements of the Bakunawa served as a geomantic calendar system for ancient Filipinos and were part of the shamanistic rituals of the babaylan. It is usually depicted with a characteristic looped tail and a single horn on the nose. It was generally believed to be a sea serpent, but are also variously believed to inhabit either the sky or the underworld.
Due to increasing trade contacts with South Asia and the Indianization of Southeast Asia, the Bakunawa later became syncretized with the Nāga, Rahu, and Ketu of Hindu-Buddhist mythology.
    Etymology
Bakunawa is believed to be originally a compound word meaning "bent snake", from Proto-Western-Malayo-Polynesian *ba(ŋ)kuq ("bent", "curved") and *sawa ("large snake", "python"). Spelling variants include Vakonawa, Baconaua, or Bakonaua.

Woah. The information is all over the place. They didn’t mention that Dragons originates in China, the reason as to why is still unknown. From China it traveled to Korea and then to Japan. The story of the carp getting to the top of the waterfall is of Japanese origin. The Chinese worshipped the the dragons to control rains on their crops, and to avoid floods, the rivers in China were prone to that. I expected much more from this video, sadly disappointed.

The story of the carp ascending the waterfall to become a dragon likely originates in China though, as it's also a prevalent myth in Vietnam, whose culture derives heavily from Chinese culture. In fact, the myth is so popular that it has long been associated with highschool students striving for their dream position in a well-known university. They say the students are the carps, the entrance exam is the magical gate and when they become uni students, they finally are dragons. I don't know where you got the source saying that the myth comes from China?

You should've gone by the order how the culture was spread, Chinese > Vietnamese > Korean > Japanese. I may not be Vietnamese myself, but always find myself disappointed when content creators miss out or fail to mention the Vietnamese aspect when they're talking about Oriental culture (since Vietnam is also part of the Sinosphere/East Asian Cultural Sphere). That seems to always be the case though.

You forget that dragonlike creatures literally live in Eastern Indonesia and megafauna like dinosaurbirds roamed the planet during the last ice age throughout Australasia. So dragons did not necessarily start from China, the tales about dragons or flying reptiles from the highlands is age old in East Indonesia older than the first migration our of Taiwan.

Nice, short, interesting, informative, I wonder why western dragons are more wicked then the eastern dragons. It can't be from the bible, as the old testerment wasn't known at the time. But i bet it didn't help the western dragons much ,when it came over. Good vid.👍. Be safe.😊

Chinese dragon might be based on Chinese alligator at first. But it got snake body, eagle claw, lion mane and deer antler over time.
