You also should treat the wood Adam, as it will rot quickly, to be honest I would scrap it & start again, I think I would add soil & make ramps as if you sink it it will rot quicker as it will get wet easier

I would fill gravel around the gaps and maybe cover that with dirt 🤔

Dig down use pavers to provide solid. Add styrofoam sill plates layer as moisture barrier so it will last a generation.

Well I thought the point of the trench was to let the water run down to the pond. If you dig down will it block the water flow?

I would take the mower over a few twenty times, and it will probably sink on its own as wet as the ground is.
