I feel that the ash saga in itself is just underrated and has a lot of characters that need to return in kof15. But his design is probably the best part. It's simple yet effective.
I think if it was longer it could have been crafted a little bit better specially to introduce more of the followers of Saiki and see how they play and their role, most of them are like there and then gone before we could invest some time with them.
Man I remember when 2003 first droppd. Back in the arcades when my town first got 2k3, I saw a bunch of guys crowding around the cabinet. Running old classic teams of familiar characters but none of the new characters, when I finally got my turn to play(I've been a big fan of Kof games all the way back from 96), I picked Kyo, Shen and Clark. I put about 8 straight wins on the board before I got beat. After walking around the arcade for a bit, I came back to the 2k3 cab and noticed that Shen was on everyone's team after I played him. One of my proudest moments as a kid. Shen was so cool man, kind of like a Yamazaki without the Orochi influence.
I only managed to influence 1 guy to use him. He knows Shen is quite a character after I beat them a few times with him. Shen has strong normals. His standing light kick does a lot of damage. It is also deceptive. They think it is a light kick and can afford to eat a few of them, but if you look at the health bar, it does good damage. Shen's standing light kick is about 80% of heavy attacks from others. They are fast and low commitment too.
I just love Shen Woo's design from his attire to his moveset I loved playing him in Kof 11 and Kof 13 he was such a badass I hope he returns in Kof 15 plus thank you for this video.
I honestly can’t tell if the extreme simplicity of his character is a strength or weakness from a writing perspective but I love this guy’s vibe overall

(With the Exception of Death Note, SAO and Highschool of the Dead, those were Classics)

I'd like to see Shen with Duo Lon and Lin as a "team china" of sorts or alternatively on some sort of team with Yamazaki in XV because they've only been in one game together but i feel like they'd have good or at least funny interactions both having similar backgrounds.
Thanks for covering Shen! I really like how despite being a rough brawler and an attitude, Shen actually has a sense of respect for the people he meet. Easily one of the coolest things about him is how his ultimate move in KOF13 gave him a power boost. It would be cool to seem him in a future game, maybe in KOF15 perhaps!

Ash is probably going to be Teaming up with Elizabeth and Kukri in KOFXV so that's very much unlikely, I do think Shen Woo and Duo Lon could Team up again but I actually want Duo to team up with Lin and the 3rd Member from they're Clan (Xiao Lon) for the *"Dragons Spirits"* storyline, I think Shen needs to actually form his own Team with anyone to match his Fighting Style, like 2 other Street Brawlers like him.

I think you forgot to mention the fact that Ikaris Team had encounter Team Hero in Kof 2003. Since the Ikaris Team won, I would like to see how the fight went on. It's almost certain that Ralf fought against Shen Woo. I would like to see how the 2 brawlers fight with their immense strength and mighty punches. It would be a hell of bloody fight for sure

I like characters like Shen who doesn't need a deep backstory to be likeable. Although by his actions, Shen is more like an anti hero. I am still mad of how KOF XIII eliminated almost all the characters from the Ash saga (2003-XI) to bring back the classic teams from KOF 94 and 96 At least Shen was one of the few who managed to appear in XIII
I think bringing Takuma back in KOFXIII was the right thing, same goes for Leona because she's a Fan Favorite, Hwa Jai and Raiden were a surprise and great choices for they're 1st Debut in KOFXIII since the Fatal Fury times.

That is why I didn't have an issue to not seeing King in the Women Team in KOF 2002 The roster of KOF XI is great! Whip instead of Leona. Jenet instead of Mai. Gato instead of Takuma. Vice and Mature were really unnecessary in KOF XIII The plot of the Ash saga really suffered because of the decision of bring back the classic faces/teams.
You've got some terrible hot takes. "Jenet instead of mai". There was a massive uproar when mai wasn't present in that game. People were not happy about a beloved franchise veteran being canned for an obscure character with a small fanbase. Rosters make or break fighting games, you have to pick fan favourites or people will not buy your game, this has been proven time and time again.
I hope he team up with Shun'ei and Meitenkun someday so they can be Team China. Since he has a basic control over ki energy, maybe Shun'ei and Meitenkun or even Tung Fu Rue himself can help him to learn even more for his attacks.
I would definitely make *Shen Woo* as my New Main if he will ever makes a Comeback in the Upcoming KOFXV, Although the "Ash Saga" is not my favorite Storyline in the KOF series, but it does have some really great Characters for its time. Edit: Since *Ash Crimson* is now back from the Dead, it's likely possible that *Shen Woo* would make his return in as either in the Base Roster for KOFXV. Even though I've watched the tales of ash saga and I'm just from watching this video, I still have some questions concerning that Ash kid, like : where did he get his green flames ? How come he was capable of stealing Chizuru and Iori's powers ? I mean they are not just simple powers, they are the SACRED TREASURES. Normally ONLY the descendants of the respective clans must be able to use their respective treasures. But no that's not the case and I wonder why. I think it'll be nice if you made a video on the story of Ash Crimson and maybe my questions will be finally answered. What do you think ?
Elisabeth's team in KOF 13 was one of the strongest designs in that whole game. Such a shame that Liz' herself has one of the most tragically unappealing movesets in all of KOF history.

Shen would be a very acceptable protagonist for saga.

How come he was capable of stealing Chizuru and Iori's powers ? I mean they are not just simple powers, they are the SACRED TREASURES. Normally ONLY the descendants of the respective clans must be able to use their respective treasures. But no that's not the case and I wonder why. I think it'll be nice if you made a video on the story of Ash Crimson and maybe my questions will be finally answered. What do you think ?

Yeah but he’s not out here trying to save or redeem anyone. Shen’s just out here trying to fight strong guys. He’s not really a hero. I feel like if he was just another do gooder doing heroic stuff for just cuz people wouldn’t have liked him as much. He’s popular in part because he isn’t a boring Boy Scout.

For me, Shen Woo is more appropriate to be the Hero / Leader instead of Ash... It's my personal opinion, that the Androgynous Theme (Ash, Saiki and Shion) doesn't fit the KOF character design properly :(
