Peavey Ultra Plus 3 channel footswitch...Make one for a fraction of the cost of a new one

  • When I got the Peavey Ultra Plus, it didn't have a footswitch. I couldn't find one in Europe, one in the USA was around $100 plus shipping, duty etc so I decided to make one...so this is a bit of a step by step look at what was involved.

    Looks like the crunch or lead LED is on all the time, even when clean is on. Given that you have 3PDT switches, you could probably fix that, so when green is lit, neither of the "gain" LEDs is lit. Just run the gain select common line in series through one of the unused poles of the clean switch, on the opposite phase ("throw") from the green channel. Just a suggestion.

      Hi, yes it is as you say, it lights either the crunch yellow or lead red when on clean so you know which channel you will go to when you switch off clean.. if only green is lit, I'd not know if I'd switch to crunch or lead. That's how the original switch works and my old Laney iron heart was same. It's actually very logical to use . I 1st thought of the 3 switch option but this work nicely and let's me pre select the next channel as I play .
