Hopefully they ship the new orders with the same T-handle spring loaded pull pin like yours and not the cheap loose insert pin they updated all the ads with. I have one on order and probably won't even bother with assembly otherwise, just box and send it back
I have the free-pin design and a beefier pin. I worried the operation would be a pain but it's not a big deal at all honestly. In speaking with them they changed to free-pin cuz it was stronger, and it is. T-bar design is spot welded in two place - there isn't a huge amount of downward force at that spot when compared to the load that the actual hinge-point receives, but the free pin is just a stainless pin straight into the frame, no other points of failure. TL:DR the free-pin design works just fine and is stronger.
