Don't you hate when so many modern pagans and wiccans are so hellbent on the sun being a male deity and don't even know about the sun goddesses and don't realize that sun goddesses are actually just as common in pagan cultures as male sun gods?
I know I'm replying to something posted eons ago, but I read something interesting recently about different society's relationship with the feminine/masculine sun/moon being related to the climate. So where the sun is harsh and strong it's more likely to be seen as masculine, whereas the gentle, soft moon is seen as feminine. When the moon is associated with the harsh cold it's more likely to be seen as masculine and the comforting, soft sun is seen as feminine. Not sure how much backing this has but I thought it was really interesting.
This is quickly becoming one of my favourite channels. Loving all the informative content and the genuine attitude. ☺️ I stay up past my bed time for these.
You are a really great teacher. I love the way you present the material in your videos. I have had more than one personal revelation while learning more about the society behind the myths, which most other sources have not provided thus far.
thank you so much ^^ I've been away for a week in a place where the sun certainly as a lot of power, and I had to hide in the shade most of the time or in my next video I would be red as a tomato
its interesting when you say that the gifts to offer to Sunna are fruits, as this is the gift given by women in the Bihar (and other provinces of eastern India and Nepal) during the 4-day festival of Chhath Puja, which honours Ushas, Goddess of the Dawn, and Surya the Sun God. I haven't seen any authority state the cognate between Sunna and Surya, and it seems that the Nordic cognate of the 'goddess of dawn' is other than Sunna. Would you elaborate on this?
It’s funny you mention the 2 seasons because even now in Norway (where I live), my family/friends and I always refer to the colder months as winter from October to May and then from May to August is summer 😅 there is no autumn and spring for us 😂
Personally, I work nights and when I was directly honoring Lord Helios ( offerings specifically for Him, mentioning Him by name in prayer instead of honoring Him with the "to all the gods" offering) circumstances would force me outside during the day and prevent me from sleeping before work. Have you had similar experiences with Sunna?
I have listened to unreliable sources claim that the sun was worshipped as Frejya and that this correlated with the Celt God Brigit and that many who traveled saw them as two names for the same goddess. This was erased during the Christianization of Europe.
I wonder if the Etruscans and the Germanic people were somehow related. You see... there some noticeable cognates between the two, such as: Sól (sun and other name for Sunna who happens to be godess of the Sun) and like Eis/Eisir (Meaning god/gods) which resembles the word we all know and love Æsir
i live now. i know enough science to know god is myth. i'm dead against offerings and human sacrifice. irregardless i really enjoy your in depth lectures. the sun is as good as any god. your a good northman arith. thank u for your insights. take care gare
In the Greco-Roman conception, yes. They had the god Helios and the Roman Sol Invictus, Unconquerable Sun. But among the Germanic and Celtic peoples, the Sun was feminine. However, the Sun's qualities such as shining and brightness, were often regarded as masculine, such as with Balder and Bellenos.
So this goddess is good for depression. Excellent 👌

We still honour Sunna the Goddess, in naming the first day of the week in her name, albeit most people are not aware of this fact.
I recently read about sunday having been the first day of the week.
Hail Sunna!

I'm so glad to know that! I mean, I don't want to rob you from your resting time, but I'm really happy that you like my videos! :D
After this winter we should all be talking to Sunna.
Thank you for all your videos great energy 👍🏻☀️🌸Hail Sunna! The light that shows the way
this is my favorite video. THANKS. Arith she likes to work with lapis lazuli stones with any blue gemstones.
3 lapis lazuli stones:) when u set up an altar to her is an option too.

Thank you Willa wolfe, thank you so much, I'm happy to know that ^^
I love how you talk about Portugal and Spain, it's so difficult to find information about this region so you are a breath of fresh air. Thank you
Please do a video about the moon god.
Informative as normal. I stay out of the sun for a few reasons but still have respect for her power. Tack, Arith.
thank you so much ^^ I've been away for a week in a place where the sun certainly as a lot of power, and I had to hide in the shade most of the time or in my next video I would be red as a tomato
I love the sun, but I'm very pale and can't handle the light or the heat either, so I have to love her from the shade.

Well actually maybe the one month of September is autumn lol

Sonna is shining bright
Aawww Arith, don't be sad!
BTW of course they were related dumbass self. They're both indo-european
Did the ancient Lusitanians and Iberians worship the Sun goddess? What were some of the practices?
Fazendo um blót pra Sól agora mesmo.
Phoenix Arizona is a test of one’s faith to Sunna 😂
I can relate 😂 (East Texas) though we moreso feel the sauna-like humidity, versus the absurdly high degrees
In northern Europe I feel that 30°C is already arizonalike. 😂
So the sun was female and the sun-light was male?
Why do you care
The moon is male, a trabant like men are the sidekicks of women.
I´ve tinked you was talked about more about sowilo
I will talk about it on the runes ^^, soon Ansuz first
The japense and hindu have sun goddess too. And the wordcsun in arabic and italy is feminine but masculine in other countries. Interesting
I thought the earth was female mother earth and sun was male as in sun rays making plants grow for food
The earth is daughter

hey genius tune the damn guitar!!!
For the love of the Gods, tune your guitar.
my name is Sunna 😄 What a nice video to get to know more about my name, i’m very grateful 🫶🏻
Against depression. Be more concious about the wording, people. As it is said in english: They are spell/ing/s. 😉🙂
I heard the Sun IS God.. and that its representative of masculinity
In the Greco-Roman conception, yes. They had the god Helios and the Roman Sol Invictus, Unconquerable Sun. But among the Germanic and Celtic peoples, the Sun was feminine. It's all a matter of balance, I feel I need Sunna, but too much Sun also burns my very white skin. Disadvantages of our superior race, hahahaha!
