Your the only brick layer I watch and know who does lintels correct. You get them perfect! DPC minimum 150mm past and then curled up the next nearest perp, also tucked neat and back from the bed when jointed, weep vents the correct way around with the spout at the front bottom and flush every 450mm and get the double in the middle if needed to make it even. every other youtube bricklayer makes a bodge job of lintels! izzy the bricky messes up all the above especially weep vents he puts them up side down and back to front! and he wont listen to anyone! You are the easily one of the best bricklayers in the country. I mean sure some others that are under the radar but you are the real deal. Refined boss level!
@jeffsmith2144 in an earlier video about a year ago I was telling him and explaining to read the weep vent instructions on the side of the weep vent! He was like nah I'm sure I'm doing it rite mate. Maybe he does it rite now I'm not sure don't really watch any more. A bit cringe. Lol

I did a lot of brick work and building at my own home and got it perfect. Just took me ages! Building inspector was impressed though. He asked if I done it before. Without TH-cam You just couldnt learn the same! Imagine going to the library and renting a book! lol. Were lucky.

Back when I did a short apprentice style placement in 2021, my start was 8am and to get ready on time I’d usually be awake by 6:30am to get picked up by around 7:15am ish, and then we’d arrive shortly before 8 at whatever place we were working at that day. (Joinery) and every time the night before I would always be careful with my sleep and be sure I didn’t do anything that compromised it and no matter how tired I was, I always made sure I was ready and awake. 2 biggest reasons, 1, it helped build a solid routine for me and got me used to a true work schedule and 2, to make sure I created a good impression with my boss (equivalent) and the other guys I worked with. He even said once it was finished for me, he respected my time keeping, saying it was really good, not once did he ever have to call to remind me, or ask where I was

There's a simple answer to your problems of people not turning up. Employ them properly. As self employed they have every right to do what they want to. As a 'boss' you can't dictate that. If you employ them properly on paye then they are tied to you. Give them job security, holiday pay, etc and they will look after you and come in every day as they should. If they don't give them warnings. Simple.
Not sure if Ur aware mate but mine and most block splitter blades are reversible it's just a square blade that can be changed around 4 times just unscrew it and rotate it then lock it back in place buddie should be as good as new 👍

It can really fuck you up mate, especially if you’re a bit young and naive! I had a guy I picked up, first couple of mornings no worries! Then a few minutes… then I had to knock door… then make him a coffee and wait for him to get out the pyjamas! Ended up with me in the wrong crowd, sniffing stuff and taking tick tacks wink wink, binge session from a Thursday to Sunday… then I wasn’t turned out on a Monday! I got out of that situation! But you don’t really see the downward spiral you’re in when you’re in it! All because I didn’t keep driving when the lazy bastard didn’t show up ! 😂.

Charlie, why put the weep hole in the turn up when you have another joint before the opening. Weep holes dont need to be in the turn up as long as there is 1 above the brickwork. The heavy tray is shite for putting weeps in the turn up.

What's off on the bricks you reject after starting to place them? I'm guessing color, size, damage, other things?
Damaged and warped bricks are no good. Some come off the pallet looking like bananas.
