oh my gosh the way you like scored the little round bits reminded me so much of a sunflower!! which gave me an idea! you could do like a medium ish tall vase where it has little petals that stick out to the side on the edge/rim and then the inside of the vase is painted brown! maybe you could paint the outside yellow/orange or a green?? i’m not sure but i just had to share! 🥹🥹

i do it in school and when i stick something to something it doesn’t stay even tho i still do the slip and scorch method where u do like lines and it’s sooo annoying and my vase isn’t smooth

I keep on forgetting what it’s called but in pottery when we want to stick things together we do the scratching method but then we also use this kind of concoction that acts as a glue! It’s basically just the clay and water mixed together. We kind of paint a thick layer of that to both sides then stick them together and smooth the surface out c:

that’s a myth lol air bubbles won’t cause explosions if the piece is COMPLETELY dry. explosions are caused by trapped moisture in the clay

This is an earthen clay. It’ll need a kiln to fire properly.
If you see tools with metal heads and wooden handles, it’s almost definitely earthen clay, since the tools need to be more durable to survive that material longer. It’s not always perfect, though.
It’s hard to differentiate sometimes, but Polymers usually look shinier when they’re being worked. If they’re rolled along a smooth surface, polymers might even kind of look like a sheet of acetate sometimes, depending on the brand, since they’re a type of plastic. That’s why they can fire in a home oven. Earthen tends to look lumpier like this, like dirt, because it basically kinda is a special dirt lol.

Yes! it’s called scoring and slipping :) slip is just watered down clay to a glue-like consistency and it helps stick the pieces together
