When you’re a movie expert, you could consider yourself an expert in various fields like medicine, architecture, business, law, history, science, etc. think of all the information that comes out of movies and then to have an encyclopedic knowledge of that? Greg is def someone you want on your side.
What I really really love about Gregg’s character is that he considers himself passionate and knowledgeable about movies in the sense that anyone who has just watched the movie can be. Like, you could just look up online whether or not My Giant used post or practical effects. But to Gregg, the real film buff knowledge comes from watching the movie, that’s it. If it’s not something that is immediately apparent during your first viewing of the movie then it’s really not important. And I’ll never look it up either because I don’t care to know. I just want to know if it’s a five bagger or not. And if it’s a popcorn classic it’s automatically a five bagger.
I wanted to leave a comment about this too, their dynamic is so funny and fascinating to me Gregg prides himself on being a knowledgeable film expert but his knowledge just extends to random trivia He's so invested in movies but has no idea about how they're made, meanwhile Tim has at least has some basic understanding, but is so uninvested in the movies they watch and the show itself that he just doesn't pay attention to anything they're talking about
Obviously an homage to the color changing horse from the 1933 film, Wizard of Oz, featuring Judy Garland. Gregg's wardrobe is thoughtful and purposeful each episode.
Going through this journey for the first time, worried about Tim’s health and it’s nice to see Gregg’s concern. They may disagree sometimes (about movies) but I think it’s clear these two are friends and I don’t see that changing
Wow, there's some great improv in this one. First a gem from Turkington on the Jaegermeister, followed by Tim who takes it in a completely different direction by making it medical. Then they rif on their one-liners while the hilarity cools down a bit, probably to let us breath for once.
@rvd356 I'd love to see Jim Carrey in the leading role of that movie. He hasn't been on the big screen since "kick-it", where, because he's a superhero, he saves lives, which in a way makes him a doctor. But if he was to star as a real doctor, it would go down in history as one of the great doctor movies of all time, because it is Jim Carrey and whenever he's in movies he's bound for Oscer Gold!
We are so damned blessed to be living in this "golden age" of cinema, you guys! These filmmakers are pushing boundaries, showing us things our eyes have witnessed, originality and style 'round every corner!!! Zombies, superheroes, drunken teens, and found-footage ghost stories... keep 'em comin' Hollywood!!!!!!!!!!
Its 11:30 pm Wednesday night i'm studying for finals and Gregg's idea to call the sequel to '21 and over' 'Doctor 21' popped into my brain and i started pissing myself. thank you.
He didn't give it 10. He gave it another 5. 5 is the highest the scale goes. He rated it 5. And then 5 again. That is entirely what he is allowed to do on the scale of the ratings.
Hey Tim love the show and also would like to show my support for your decision not getting the surgery! It's your choice and I wish you the best in exploring your options with yoru doctor and pastor. Forget Dr. 21, how about 21 more episodes of on Cinema!
Well, 5 is the highest you can go. And he gave it a five. Then, he just sorta snuck another five right in there, because he enjoyed it so much, and films of this caliber deserve it, and the filmmakers deserve it.
I love that Gregg's go-to reference for something that is unrealistic is ALWAYS "the Flinstones cartoons"
2:26 "Surgery, too, would be a good medicine." -Gregg Turkington, film expert
that's not appropriate
I'm so sick of Gregg. He always makes everything about him. He's so selfish and self-centered. We need good all-American critics like Tim!
He has no knowledge about the benefits of homieo vaping. Dr. San has the answer!!!!
Yeah we really need to take medical advice from a film expert. Give me a break!

‘Jack The Giant Slayer’ really is the ‘Gone with the wind’ of our time.
Many are saying this!!!

There was at least one Popcorn classic Gregg really didn't enjoy. It was a stumper for sure.
I wanted to leave a comment about this too, their dynamic is so funny and fascinating to me

That's a great point. Whenever a movie didn't implement a random idea he has, he calls it a flaw or a mistake.
For the last hour I've been thinking about how the color of Gregg's shirt changes depending on which camera is being used.
privatehight it’s driving me crazy!!!! i was looking for a comment about it
Obviously an homage to the color changing horse from the 1933 film, Wizard of Oz, featuring Judy Garland. Gregg's wardrobe is thoughtful and purposeful each episode.
Same color shirt, different lighting and lens makes it look different
@@wojakmedia no, it's definitely some kind of CGI
@@panterxbeats trust me haha it’s lighting and camera lens. There’s no way the specifically went out of their way to add CGI in hahah
Going through this journey for the first time, worried about Tim’s health and it’s nice to see Gregg’s concern. They may disagree sometimes (about movies) but I think it’s clear these two are friends and I don’t see that changing
Tim's hair is so professional, you can really tell he pays meticulous attention to detail.
With all due respect two both parties, Tim’s hair looks like Crispin Glover
this is just the day he accidentally used a tub of glue instead of hair gel. anyone could make this mistake.
"...then make them as they are."
Since I've watched this episode, I started thinking to myself " _Ahaa..._ " a lot more
“Great guests, great conversations and a few arguments”
Gregg Turkington: Always a guest, never a co-host.
The way Tim pronounces "Jack and the Giant Slayer" is a perfect example of the subtlety in this show.
I can handle regular-sized slayers. It's the giant slayers that scare me.
4:11
Also, Tim suddenly laughing at Gregg's "a shot of Jägermeister"
(miswords* not pronounces :) )
And then Gregg later calls it James and the Giant Slayer
Dr. 21
Dilton X How Gregg keeps himself from smiling is beyond me. Especially when you can clearly see Tim trying not to laugh.
We’re still waiting for this sequel Hollywood!
Ewen McWegor
Wuwen McWegor
Stanley Tookie
BIG shoutout to the world's smallest actor Billy Crystals!
Yea, even shorter than Kevin Hart
"I am the host of my own show which is this show called On Cinema"
"Perhaps that could be the sequel, 17 and Under" 😂😂
A prequel sequel
Greggs reaction at 01:10 made me laugh in a way I've never heard myself laugh before. Amazingly good
Great medicine
@@jeremydyar7566 surgery would also be a great medicine XD
"Stanley Tookie" - I almost spat out my tea in laughter!
Tim is so close to cracking in these early episodes, especially.
5:08-5:22 is so funny
I love being entertained while I learn. I didnt even know Billy Crystal was the worlds shortest actor
Just don't tell danny devito about this
once Billy Barty died he clinched it
@@scharlesworth93 RIP the Bartz
He's actually 2'4" but they upsized him using forced perspective until the inception of CGI
billy crystals?
Gregg's cinema expertise is so impressive
Bryan Director. Floored.
"Then make them as they are" is a series highlight
so much for gregg being a film buff, didn't even know about the optical illusion technique to make billy crystals look smaller.
“Then make them as they are.” 😂😂😂
these guys always review the best movies! every single one's a five bagger!
They know how to pick 'em! That's what keeps me coming back!
"I have many unopened DVDs oh and DVDs too"
4:49 is exactly how i describe movies to my friends when they are shitty.
3:08 that laugh is so genuine
Wow, there's some great improv in this one. First a gem from Turkington on the Jaegermeister, followed by Tim who takes it in a completely different direction by making it medical. Then they rif on their one-liners while the hilarity cools down a bit, probably to let us breath for once.
theyre stone cold serious & im out here dying laughing every episode
6:34 My Giant is the Star Trek movie where they return to San Francisco.
I like how Tim emphasizes "Jack and The Giant Slayer" as though it's about a Slayer that is giant.
Still waiting for "Dr. 21" to come out

Gregg's frown is the highlight of my week, every week.
Hearing the film expert having the concept of "film special effects" explained to him and him immediately rejecting the idea, is so funny
Thank god Greg is back in his seat as the guest of On Cinema at the cinema to give us some great experteeze
Gregg’s expertise is on full display on this one. Give this man a raise
"Ewan Magwegor"
Holy shit, On Cinema has been in for 10+ years? Siskel and Ebert eat your heart out.
Poor Greg always being shot down 7:41 LOL
I appreciate whoever lights the set for this show. Great Job, Mr. Lighting-guy! I hope ya get an Oscar!
Timm and Gragg are such a good team when they get along, even though they still have hot debates
This is my favorite series right now. Thanks for helping me out. Now I know whether or not I should catch a flick this weekend!
7:35 . on cinema gold.
James And The Giant Slayer.
I think his delivery was so subtle that he snuck that one in under the radar. I expected way more recognition out of this line, it's fucking great.
Then make them as they are.
You can call the sequel "21 and HUNGover"
Fuck yes.
look how young and innocent our handsome boy Tim is. Before the Thunderstorm
5:37 Love it when Tim just decides to interrupt Greg and doesn’t have anything to say. 😂
This is a historic episode, the only 10 bagger review given in the history of On Cinema by Gregg. Crazy.
this is such a loving and respectful episode. I will savour this
Too many cooks.
***** TOO MANY COOOoooOOKS.
i fucking love greg so much.
"I'M TIM HEIDECKER"
Ever notice that it always sounds like Tim’s mic is off?
I think Tim is CGI
lol gregg is such a good actor
I like how Tim is talking about how funny the movie is while the clip shows a car violently crashing
boy am I jazzed to see these new movies
"James and the Giant Slayer" Okay Gregg Turkington, Film Expert
RIP Billy Crystal we'll always treasure your movie reviews.
so much mild flinching from Tim...looks ready to burst out laughing
Its 11:30 pm Wednesday night i'm studying for finals and Gregg's idea to call the sequel to '21 and over' 'Doctor 21' popped into my brain and i started pissing myself. thank you.
Jack the Giant Slayer - 16 total bags. What a film.
good point about The Flintstones, Gregg
You think a film expert of Gregg's caliber would know CGI'd giants when he sees them. Especially considering that he's such a Crystalhead.
So many gems in this episode
wow these guys are like the rainman of movie knowledge
Love how gregg is only a frequent guest but still knows the editors picked the largest popcorn png
I hate Gregg so much for not knowing anything.
He didn't give it 10. He gave it another 5. 5 is the highest the scale goes.
He rated it 5. And then 5 again. That is entirely what he is allowed to do on the scale of the ratings.
Truly one of the finest early episodes.
any chance of video of a behind the scenes look at what goes into the production of an episode of on cinema at the cinema?
“Hate to do this to ya on the show but”
"A-ha they're still making these kinds of movies."
good point about the flintstones
love the subtle errors Tim makes 'giant SLAYER' rather than 'GIANT slayer' emphasis
1:49 my favorite part is tim trying desperately not to laugh. reminds me of being in church as a kid
So many five baggers out in theaters right now, it's a great time to be a film fan.
Why does gregs shirt go from blue to purple??
There are different ways of treating the situation that do not involve invasive surgery such as... Seals.
They should of given "21 and Over" 21 bags of popcorn. An instant classic.
Gregg Is right, Tim! get surgery dude do not let this go too long!!
+grvonny none of your business
Yes Papa
as a personal friend of the 2 of them, YES IT IS!! Know your roll, Yes Papa!! Know your ROLL!!!
Hey Tim love the show and also would like to show my support for your decision not getting the surgery! It's your choice and I wish you the best in exploring your options with yoru doctor and pastor. Forget Dr. 21, how about 21 more episodes of on Cinema!
"That's not appropriate."
Tim, are you on ebay looking for those tapes for Greggs collection?
Place a bid...you might get lucky
Any word on if Hollywood are doing anything about Dr 21?
Well, 5 is the highest you can go. And he gave it a five. Then, he just sorta snuck another five right in there, because he enjoyed it so much, and films of this caliber deserve it, and the filmmakers deserve it.
Too many cooks here giving medical advice. I am with you Tim. Good doctor, good decision.
Gregg almost losing it at 4:33 :D
Honestly, I am just glad Tim made it past all his various health scares over the years.
I give this movie 4 bags of popcorn with a bottle of prescription blood thinners.
Billy Crystal, the world’s shortest actor
Greg sure was co-host for awhile, and he didnt even mention it in this video!
"I'M TIM HEIDECKER!"
Doctor 21
