I'd never made or even tried mulled wine, but I had a party last friday night and decided that it would be like a "winter sangria" for my guests. It smelled divine, and everyone who tried it asked for seconds. Thank you for the recipe and the video. Loved it.
aaaah so good! mulled wine is always amazing. I make mine with a little blueberry or pomegranate juice (instead of the citrus juice) I do add some orange zest but then I fill it up with cinnamon, cloves, star anise and cardamom! so hearty and aromatic!
It also works well if you wrap the big herbs/peels/spices in a cheesecloth so that you don't have to worry about your guests accidentally getting a mouth full of bay leaf when they scoop out their wine.
Danuta Danutielková Do it! We'l love to see some photos. You can share them here plus.google.com/u/0/b/116027252794147137089/communities/111293099851034021396
+Jamie Oliver's Drinks Tube It was absolutely stunning... All my friends were really excited and wanted the recipe! The vanilla pod really makes the difference :)
I love mulled wine! This year I tried to make a German style, a British style and a Swedish style with my friends:) But do we have to prepare good quality wine for this or just some cheap one is better?
This sounds like a great recipe and exactly what I was looking for for Christmas with the family. Though just a quick question. It'll be a rather large crowd and I don't think two bottles of red wine will be enough, Can I just double everything, or should I be careful with some of the spices to not over do it?
Jinx313 Doubling up should work just fine, but if you're concerned you can easily hold back on some of the more potent spices like the nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon and then adjust to taste at the end (once the rest of the wine is in). Obviously don't adjust the syrup to taste as it would be incredibly hot. Enjoy!
Mlle Dottie You'd probably want to scale back on the spices if you were mulling white wine, stick to vanilla, cinnamon and maybe some elderflower? Plenty of lemon too. Would love to hear how you get on.
Why is this channel called "Jamie Oliver's" when it is hosted by a bunch of other people? Not saying it's bad, the recipes actually seem decent, but why the name?
simonfarquharson Hi Simon, it's hosted by Jamie along with lots of other talents drinks folk. You'll find plenty of videos featuring Jamie here th-cam.com/play/PLlnO2fSQw0mz0jacMYbS1JeSk6x5qidlR.html

To scale up can you just double up the ingredients? Or would the extra spices over power?

My place of work doesn't have a stove; so is it possible to re heat mulled wine in the microwave?
can you use cider instead of wine as i don't like wine
Caroline Vercoe Yes! and if you can hold tight, we might just have a Mulled Cider recipe coming your way soon.
ok thank you
Love your presentation Donal, always! :)
What do you do with the leftover wine? Can you heat it up once again?
It looks like christmas there
Is it possible to use white wine in combination with those spices? Or are there other spices, which would go allong better?
Mlle Dottie You'd probably want to scale back on the spices if you were mulling white wine, stick to vanilla, cinnamon and maybe some elderflower? Plenty of lemon too. Would love to hear how you get on.
Well that's my mulled wine sorted for Christmas Donal Skehan. Looks divine! Big hello from a #foodtubenewbie #FreshTalent
Mallika Basu Hi Malika! Welcome to the family. LOVED your video.
Hello! i have one question..How can i storage it?And for how long?
Thank you in advance! :D
Eleni 〈3 Probably best to store the syrup (it'll keep in the fridge no problem for a few days), then re-heat the syrup and add the wine. Job done!
make another one but from the absolut base without the wine it tastes sooooo much better trust me im swedish :P
