  • The Snook are starting to move out to the beaches. The ones I've caught have been in the 28" class. I have seen a few that were 36" and over. It's my plan this year to hit the beach about once per week when the tides are right in hopes of meeting up with the giant females when they show up.

J.C you should switch out those trebles for inline hooks... it better for the fish and easier to pull out if your accidently hooked by a thrashin' fish.

Love that beach Snook fishing…great time now! So JC…why don’t you use long nose pliers to remove hooks? It took me one time to get hooked while unhooking a thrashing fish…never again. Anyways another great SW beach video 👍🏼

I tried hitting the beach down there last year for Snook but I was just a little bit early. Nice thing is my wife has a family member with a tiny vacation home in Indian Shores that we pay him a very small amount to cover electricity and water while we are there and can almost go whenever we want. I may pop down for a few days this summer some time and try again!

How do you like your wraith? I have an 8000, with a 12-13ft matching rod witch worked great until a huge cobia broke the tip end off. So I mounted it on a 9' medium heavy generic rod that I use on bridges. The 8000, after I changed to carbon drags works on anything that bites from Cobia, to 6' sharks and is a dream. I thoroughly love how it works so smoothly. Great vid, thanks.

For the bottom of the Penn line it's a good reel for the price. I'd pay the extra money for the Pursuit though.

Snook are catch and release only during certain times of the year. In SW Fl. the season was closed for about two years because red tide had been very bad and a lot of fish were killed. Snook are always catch and release during the winter months and summer.
