- The route was a fantastic mix of gravel, single track and small roads. There were three distances 83km/62km/50km, so there was something for everyone! I did the long route.
The organisation was great and the feed stations, well stocked. This was a great introduction to cycling in this area. You can see the different routes on the Glorious Gravel Strava page.
Julie is an ex Pro-Elite mountain biker. She is an MTB Leader and Mountain Leader. She regularly runs courses and guided trips, in the Peak District and Wales.

I did the medium route - left the start just ahead of you. Loved it too - but ohhh the bike cleaning afterwards!
It was a 3 stage clean lol ! Everything seem sooooo grity .

Interesting that not all the bikes were gravel bikes.
I was looking at some maybe doing some beginner friendly bike events on my cheap hybrid to see if it’s my sort of thing before upgrading. Might take a look at the Cannock chase one as it’s local.

No because I know the Chase really well. I enjoyed the Sherwood event because it was all new. Have a wonderful time.

@@JuliePhelanExplore That was my first ever gravel event. Been a bit intimidated by the elevation in some of the other events. I’m doing the Sherwood pines gravel ride (wild deer events) in May, and am going to get out to the Peak District to practise some more technical terrain with more elevation in the coming months. Are you running any gravel rides in the near future?
You mean a course - guided ride with technical skills?

This was my first. Yep it was good . I have to say, the mud added a bit of extra spice lol ! What more can you expect from someone who has been racing cross lol !
