@@somehorse when the dodgers were in the world sieries( sorta the championship of baseball) against the astros, the astros cheated by using the cameras on the field to find out what pitches the dodgers were going to throw before the dodgers threw them.

It just goes to show how effective bunting is nowadays, ie not effective at all. Unless you're a super fast base stealer, and maybe getting shifted, then it can be effective to sneak hits through against poor defenders otherwise its still better for pitchers to just swing away and bat 150 with a 50% K rate than try and bunt for a guaranteed out.

There is hardly any baseball in the Sandlot. It’s basically a baseball themed heist film.
Actually, the photographers on the field with their Graflex 4x5 cameras is spot on for the era. It was a different time. Outfielders used to drop their gloves in the field between innings in those days.

The scene in the Natural with the camera men on the field is actually accurate. Just watch any old baseball footage and you'll see photographers on the field taking pictures of Babe Ruth during an at bat.

In 6:56, no it's not unrealistic, they had cameramen like that in the field up until the 1930's. How do you think they got the amazing pictures of Babe Ruth and Co.? There's an incredible documentary called Baseball and it's about 20 hrs long, incredibly well documented it's on Amazon prime.
Somebody needs to let them know that cameramen WERE on the field during play, in the 30's & 40's. Fielders also used to leave their gloves on the field between innings.

I was in the stands at Engel Stadium in Chattanooga for "42." For every live person in the seat, there were maybe 5 or 6 dummies, but the officials there told us that nobody would ever notice and would only focus on the movement.
The best part of the movie's accuracy was how the workers there made Engel Stadium look like Ebbets Field in 1947.
My favorite baseball movie is the campy comedy, "It Happens Every Spring," where a college professor accidentally creates a substance that repels wood and becomes the best pitcher in baseball using his foreign substance.

Fun facts about major league. Charlie Sheen pitched through High School, his pitches on set for major league topped out at 85 MPH. Wesley Snipes is actually really slow, that's why all his running scenes are done in slow-mo or with shaky cams.
