      He holds you accountable for your own life but offers solutions to the hell people find themselves in at times. It is contrary to the SJW’s and new psycho left Feminist Marxism doctrine of zero responsibility and everyone else is to blame for where you are. Truth is a bitter pill to these people and there are millions of them. Hate is easier than introspection and the admittance of being wrong I guess.

      @Rick Lane What a cruel comment. This man is human too, he is fallible like us all. That doesn't mean that he loses the right to impart the knowledge he has gained over his long career as a clinical psychologist. I believe his wife of many years has been very sick over the last year and JBP was finding this very stressful. It would be kinder to wish him a speedy recovery as we all have so much to gain from this impressive man.

      Most heroes are haunted by the very thing they're trying to save people from. They find their purpose in curing other peoples suffering that aligns with their own. You can only truly help people if you go through the same suffering you're trying to save them from. For example, Kid Cudi's music is about overcoming demons and battling the dark version of yourself...and it just so happens he battles the same depression his fans go through. He went to rehab, struggled with suicide and addiction and his music is only effective because he goes through the same battles his songs help people overcome. It's called walking the walk...Same as JP.

      faultroy - You have made some very bold claims filled with Hyperbole. This makes me sceptical as to your authenticity.

    • @smeglips
      @smeglips 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      faultroy - I am happy to point out your exaggeration, for example when you say it is ‘mandatory in all schools’ this is hyperbole, as you say ‘all’ curriculum, as though their is no school without this as part of the curriculum, this you state as fact and I doubt it’s authenticity. Also, in the latter end of your difficult to follow rant you say JP has always played it safe and not taken a risk. When you use words like always, that are said in full measure without exception this is hyperbole and is used to manipulate arguments by being emotive.
      Further, I doubt you have much knowledge of JP’s actual circumstances and are being a cheap online troll.
      Last of all, I have not lowered my argument to name calling like you, which is a sure sign that you have introduced emotion into your argument, quite contradictory considering the terminology you use as slander. Are you a hypocrite?

    • @smeglips
      @smeglips 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      faultroy - I didn’t bother reading your entire comment, please forgive me.
      I question your authenticity in your initial claims of Peterson, you portray yourself as though you know more than most about him, like his lack of risk taking in life. I question how you know that, I mean really know. I very much doubt you know anymore than anyone else on the internet.
      That’s what my initial comment referred to.
      Im finished entertaining you, so save yourself the time and don’t reply.

      @faultroy You made the assertions... Prove it, or GTFO.
      The fact is that many universities don't allow Peterson's videos to be shown.
      Almost all universities are run by Leftists administrators and faculty.
      They hate Peterson as much as you do.
      Your assertion is completely wrong.
      There have even been cases where Peterson's videos were show at universities, where the students were threatened, intimidated, or punished for using the videos in class projects by the schools administrators and faculty!
      It wasn't being taught by the universities, but by the students. The universities won't allow Peterson's ideas to be presented.
      The only University that allows his ideas, is the one he teaches at.

    • @Ninitschga
      @Ninitschga 4 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Stone Fist I would say it depends. Neurologically speaking, enthusiasm, passion and excitement (as new studies are proofing again and again) are fertilizers for growth and new connections are formed continuously under the right conditions. But due to various reasons, most people today did not grow up that way. Adversity has always been part of human life and those who have to face it before they developed the tools to deal with it, will be formed and shaped by it.

    • @hui975

    • @Ninitschga
      @Ninitschga 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Albert Gracious I know we usually value the things we „learned“ the hard way more for a couple of reasons:
      a) overcoming adversity is and always has been critical for human survival
      - so negative memories and the linked fears do serve an important purpose, similar to an alarm system
      b) the more effort we put into something / the more pain we endure to reach a certain goal, the more likely we are to justify our investment later on, because it would cause too much mental dissonance to admit that it was unnecessary suffering
      c) we actually hardly ever learn any new skills in the face of adversity, we only come up with new ways to use the things we already learned - but of course the effect they have is much more profound in those scenarios

Work is more stressful and soul-sucking in the last 3 months than it ever has been, and every day it just gets worse. I know my pathway is music. So many people have told me my songs are beautiful. That there is something magical about them. But my introversion, fear, and stage fright keep me running away from it. Shadow work is not easy but it's worth it. More especially if you have trauma. The only thing I would add to this is before Shadow work make sure you have an inner dialogue that is kind to yourself, because you most certainly will need it!

      Well put, and I agree whole heartedly. Growth, change, strength,honesty are always on the other side of the river. The river being a raging flow of dispair, hatred, suffering, fear, anxiety, pain. But its this river we all must cross to obtain what is needed. Nothing comes easy or free if it has value. There is always beauty in suffering and struggle knowing there is a treasure on the other side. This video reminds me of a quote by Joseph Campbell who did fascinating work in comparative mythology and a studier of Carl Jung, like Jordan Peterson, he said "The cave you fear to enter, holds the treasure you seek."

Those from dysfunctional families, those who knew what a war zone looks like before they could even mumble the word, those who lost their shelter and family when they were just kids. If you try and run from those things - you‘ll be running all your life. But the moment you stop and face the dark that’s lurking within you - you will start to defeat it and keep it under control.

    These archetypes of life lessons are always being brought out in the words of the wise. Throughout antiquity, great and intellectual men and woman have said these "cliche" things. But yet each time we humans hear them they resonate, and deeply I add. They seem so archaic and simple, yet they epitomize truth and reality and personal growth. As we evolved, these "truths", in story, change. Yet as the story changes, as time changes and our environment changes, the underlying message remains the same. Isnt it an absolute truth when we, as humans have been saying something so profound for thousands and thousands of years?

I'm still working on me, but I'm still stuck in a town I don't want to be in any longer. Everytime I save for a move, something breaks, & repairs take a big bite from my savings. I keep at it, but there is no end in sight.

      MissKsMom ;
      I'm 52. I have always looked hard at myself. That's easy to do when Toxic kin have always blamed their flaws on me. Blamed me for everything! I have endured decades of abuse. Not all of it from "family". Other's see how my kin treat me, & treat me the same way. They have permission, after all. I have studied the Bible all my life. I know it well. I know myself better. Likewise, I have spent year's studying human behavior. More & more, an old adage is proven.... "People ain't no damn good". I have learned this lesson the hard way!
      But I do NOT know the mind of God. Nor do you. For you to make such an assumption shows only foolish pride on your part. You, like them, put the blame on me. Pure Hubris.
      I look for answer's everyday. From every source. Many want to appear wise, & offer mantras, quotes, & passages.... But nothing, NOTHING! I haven't already read.
      You do NOT have the answer's. No one does.
      My Grandmother use to say, "Those whom God loves, he test's."
      Well, God must ADORE me. In spite of all I have suffered, & all the Betrayals, I still pray daily.
      But I am NOT Job. My hope IS fading. (Proverbs 13; 12) These test's cannot go on a lifetime. At some point, they have to end. I have forgotten the exact line, but there is another passage from Proverbs that asks, "...but a wounded Spirit, who can bear?"
      My wounds are deep and old. Yet new wound's come almost daily. Something has to change.

      @@smc1942 You called your kin toxic? Maybe you're the problem, but of course I don't know. And going through a hard time for years on end like you are isn't a sign of God testing you, keep him out of it. You're in control of your own actions. It's just that what you're doing isn't working. You have to clearly identify the problem, come up with a solution, and put systems in place to prevent it from coming back. I mean, you can't just sit there and blindly wait for an opportunity, you got to go for it. Come up with a plan that includes a timeline, the terms of success and terms of failure, and just go after it! Plan AROUND the problems.

    To paraphrase my favourite line in this clip;
    You don't get the gold, without the Dragon. So true!
    I believe the meaning we find in life is in the journey. In the "dragon" not in the gold itself. That's just the reward for doing the things that life requires of us, but, even when we attain this pot or even vault of gold, the journey doesn't end. There's just a bigger better horde of gold somewhere else protected by yet another dragon and an even greater understanding of both life and ourselves.
