  • Fully restored 1987 Diamond Back Cool Streak in Freestyle Blue. This build was done for a friend of mine and was submitted to the BMXMUSEUM 2024 calendar build off. In this video we are going to do a bike check and go over all the details and what was used and why.
There is a separate video that will posted going over the background on the build. I’ll leave a link for that.

Great video! Yep agree doing the gyro to the top tube ain’t easy feat, it took me quite some adjusting on my late 88 PC w/o 990s to get that lower cable to pull smoothly using the top tube. Great explanation of the ACS and agree really like the C4 version of the Maui / Hawaiian color for all eras of that blue in person 😎👍🏻

Everything you told me about falls into place with this😉 and this bike, being so special, just adds to its value, besides being an Atrains (trademark) flawlessly restored bike🏆 You do inspire me by the meticulous restoration you do, would definitely like to do the same with the Strike Zone.
The tires were Mitsuboshi Tioga Comp STs, at least that is what the Strike Zone came with but the Kenda’s look very similar, for a rider that is your only choice. I have a pair of mint STs, but in black so… I might have to try to do some magic there😉
And the brake levers, yep, I am also torn between the Tech 6 and the Tech 7 - I feel the same way about the T6’s clamp like you and the T7s are nearly impossible to come by around here. Got a set of white Tech 77s too but would like to make it a wall hanger so I might opt for the Tech 7 if I ever come across one.
…and this was supposed to be a comment where I praise you for doing such an awesome job! Sorry…😅

Tech 7s have been available on bmx museum for sale section last 2 months non stop but the rpice is another question.

@@MorbidThrasher666 I’m always on the fence about them. At first I’m like no way I’m paying that for them….and somehow they end up on the bike….I’m weak

@@atrains tell me about it… no idea why they are such Holy Grails but there is simply an uncontrollable urge to get them while you still can. I thought RX-3s would be even worse but it turns out they are much easier and cheaper to come by.

@atrains I gotta say you definitely did the bike justice, and you did an outstanding job on the refurbishment. Congratulations on your attention to detail……..🫡
