Good luck on the next phase of your life. I agree, it’s sad when people stay at their jobs for the paycheck.

It's a sad reality but some people are trapped by this very situation at their job due to their financial responsibilities. I've seen it way to many times. New teachers go out and buy the nicest car and home because they think they owe it to themselves. The reality is they are setting themselves up for a trap. They don't see it then but eventually if they ever burn out sooner than later, they are forced to stay because of their home and car bills.

It’s difficult to make this decision when you have a whole family to support. I do understand your contention though. I wish you luck on your journey.

Yes, these decisions have to be decided on a case by case situation. I do agree that if you have a family that is depending on you, it's a lot more difficult to come a decision like this. This decision is not a one size fits all option, unless you have more than enough money to sustain all the bills for your home, auto and insurance covered for at least 6 months.

Thank goodness I don’t have these responsibilities yet or at this time because I definitely made the decision to leave a job with no back up plan two years ago and it is the best decision I made in my life. Now I’m on the path towards more purposeful work, taking on REAL endeavors more fearlessly and probably earning more than what I was earning in those stagnant jobs.

Hi there, I just wanted to drop a line of support for you. I see there are some comments that are quite rude and ignorant. I say ignorant, because they don't actually know what teaching entails. As usual people only see the summers off and built in holidays, etc. However, what they don't know is that, especially as a SPED teacher, those days off ARE NOT actually free time. In fact, it is the exact opposite. Teaching is an all consuming job that is equivalent to working two full-time jobs -- it is unrelenting work that does not allow a work-life balance or any leisure time. Your entire life is fully consumed by it such that you only go to work, back home, eat, work more, go to sleep and repeat; and the weekends are just more work. From the outside, teaching seems very easy, but people do not realize that the job entails soooooooo much draining work - mentally, emotional, physically, etc.
And, I wholly agree that there are too many teachers merely collecting a paycheck. They have no real interest in seeing the students grow and develop. In fact, I had so many students complain to me that many of their other teachers "didn't teach" but merely passed out worksheets or told them to review a powerpoint. There was no actual instruction or modeling of the work. But, it didn't really matter,, because administration was forcing teachers to falsify grades, in furtherance of the policy where students are no longer failed or left behind. In other words, all students knew that they would pass to the next grade whether they did the work or not. The education system is severely broken.
I commend you for your values and integrity by choosing to opt out of the lies that is our education system. Good luck.

Thank your for your support, Bonny. Yes, after a while your mental health starts to deteriorate and nobody cares. They just want you to perform your teacher duties until you physically and mentally can’t anymore. By then your retirement years are spent going to Dr visits and recovering from the years of stress brought on by the teaching profession over the years. Your family also experiences lots of neglect due to the 24/7 mindset. I was never caught up during the year. It seemed like I was always behind. Appreciate the your input. God Bless You.

Hey brother i agree. Corporations dont care about us. Its sad that people still encourage to work until they're geriatric and old. The worlds is to expensive for what jobs offer.

I agree Nate. I’m not saying that all work is bad. I’m just shedding light on the fact that the 9-5 option doesn’t have to be everyone’s way of making income. Especially when it literally leaves you emotionally drained and not able to enjoy your retirement years. So many people on TH-cam are making a respectable wage per month. Even the younger generation learned this early on and took advantage of it. They have been cashing in since they were teenagers. It’s our turn now. With God first we will persevere.

Hundreds of thousands of years humans knew to eat and protect themselves they needed to work to survive. In 20 years people now talk about wage s*avery and want to be stars.
Good luck to you, I hope you get what you want out of this. 🤘

Listen, when it comes to survival, you need to KNOW, as in have knowledge, more than you even need to “work” the way many think, especially if we live more communally and less capitalistically.
EVERYTHING we actually need exists among us. Once you know this and you learn what to do, of course you have to put effort towards some sort of activity to sustain yourself. Nobody is denying that. Nobody is suggesting idleness.
What we’re saying and what most would agree is that most of the modern conventions and ways of doing / earning currently are not usually self-determined and are more appendages of corporate greed smeared living, lifestyles and opportunities.
Much of modern working especially corporate style work is not necessarily required in order to live a quality life but unfortunately many are in bondage and seem to think they will not be able to live in a more self or community-determined way / alternative way if they don’t leave that “j-o-b”

@@AnomalyBelleza I agree that with knowledge one can achieve much. A big percentage of your business owners learned this early in their journey. Many like Steve Jobs dropped out of college because he figured out what he wanted to do to change the world and then the money came later. It didn't come without a lot of hard work and sacrifice as it has been depicted in his movies.
Many chose college like myself because of societal pressures by parents, peers and friends. Truth be told, that's the only avenue to financial freedom I knew in my life. I have a BA and MA but only in frames, because little have I used what I learned in college to succeed at my previous jobs as a professional. Really, being successful in your 9-5 job is basically learning how to get along with your peers. What you know about how to be successful at that position comes in last. This is another video. LOL! Well, thanks for taking the time to watch my video. Much is appreciate it. Please subscribe and share if you feel like this video brought value to the larger conversation. Have a blessed day.

Don't you get, like, 2 whole months of vacation per year and all the other free holidays (school closing, spring break, winter break, half days, etc) off? You had all that free time to formulate a "backup plan". You're also not "working", you're teaching what you know to students.

Let me guess? They bullied you? Also you can't even call teaching a 9-5. Every teacher assures me they're there at the butt crack of dawn and stay late into the night because parent teacher conferences apparently last all school year long. Let's not talk about your 4 months of vacation. Well 12 months now Am I Right AHAHAHAHAHAH. This is actually good. I wish my lazy ash teachers would have quit instead of waiting out their pensions. Maybe they could have found someone that gave a fk.
On a more serious note. You're probably a decent person. Was it the lady teachers who bullied you out? Schools NEED male teachers like a plant needs water. When something is tragic it's just easier to make fun instead of be sad sorry.

Thanks for your feedback. You are right, teachers do work more than 40 hours weekly sometimes. There was many variables that lead to my decision to resign. I will say that teaching is more about being able to successfully navigate positive relationships with your peers than actual teaching. I mean you take the state exams that certify you to teach those contents but anyone can pass a test. That doesn't certify that you will be a great teacher. The challenge is being able to get along with all your co-workers. If fail in this respect, your teaching journey will be miserable. It takes a self-less and team minded group of individuals to uplift a new teacher and support them until they can succeed without the training wheels. Sadly, this is hardly the case. You have to many teachers that just want to the best at what they do and leave everyone else behind without remorse. I do appreciate questions in your comment. You have a blessed day.
