  • lifedrawing.ac... - Discover How to Get a Strong Art Education. There is much more to drawing than an eye sees. The untrained viewer doesn’t see what they don’t know, and they don’t know that the knowledge is missing. If you are a self-taught artist, and, for example, do not know color theory, or the theory of tonal values, it doesn’t matter how accurately you can copy the lights and shadows you see in life; if you don’t know how the laws of light create values, then your drawing will look amateur. Such knowledge is hard to get by pure practice. You need to have talented teachers explaining and showing you the principles and rules of drawing. Learning drawing is not possible by reading ‘how to draw’ books. This is a long and hard process of practicing, with a teacher polishing their students’ understanding of drawing principles step by step. Also, it is very difficult to explain to a self-taught artist where they are making mistakes because a huge amount of knowledge is missing. Until such an artist gets all that is needed to know about constructive drawing, and processes that knowledge though hard practice, he or she would have no chance at competing with other students who apply to enter the academy. To learn good drawing techniques under personal guidance of professional artists and art teachers, enroll in the Life Drawing Academy Correspondence Course - lifedrawing.ac...

    I have a request...can you make a video about learning art from zero level, the list of things what comes after other the order of learning art. how to learn drawing without missing any step. I don't live in Russia and there are very few schools here and in those schools the knowledge and education is not so good, it's basically of no use. Iam trying to learn it by myself but I don't know what should I learn and understand to make my basics strong how can I reach advance level. I will be thankful for you if you can help me with that

    We need a school like this outside of Russia lol. And not like private this should be normal…
    But what I can say is that guidelines and dividing things into geo forms are what help me. I visualise the middle through and across my subject and that way, memorise the landmarks of said object, proportions and basic shapes, and I try “rotating” it in my head.

      @@DrawingArtAcademy Apologies for the late response, I do agree with that and the demos have helped me grow as well. But I guess now that I look back at the video it makes sense now because it was the case with a lot from contemporary schools. Must have missed that one.
      There have also been cases where beginner artists sometimes formed a habit in which will take longer to develop, because one first has to unlearn certain approaches to the fundamentals, but I understand now and thank you for that.
      I'm stuck with one more thing in mind, as someone who is eventually attempting to enroll in art schools in North America I'd imagine there is no need in that case with the amount of knowledge available, especially if one uses these skillsets towards the industry.

    I fully agree that here in the West we have a ton of horrible wannabe artists all over the place who have such a lack of crucial basic knowledge they need in anatomy, proportionating, coloring & tone, shading & lighting, perspective, you name it. People in the West need to stop being so lazy, ignorant and undisciplined and start taking artwork/drawing/painting much more seriously. It's the reason we even have so many of the WORST looking cartoons here, like The Simpsons, The Family Guy, American Dad, Rick & Morty, Beavis & Butthead, Sponge Bob, and countless, garbage CGI Disney cartoons - all the worst and laziest art styles I have ever seen.

    • @luischacon3793
      @luischacon3793 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      While finer art like traditional drawing and painting should always be kept alive, art has changed so much as well as the meaning of art itself. Bashing modern art calling them wannabes is childish. If you knew any better you would know that artistic choice regarding unproportionate anatomy and non traditional coloring and tones has been placed in a higher place in modern art. And most of those ‘worst’ animation styles are done intentionally, and it’s not to represent art in the west. I agree every artist should at one point study traditional art, but just cause they don’t doesn’t mean they aren’t an artist.

    What is the difference between the drawing academy and the life drawing academy?
    And which course should a beginner/self taught artist take?

      Thanks for asking. Drawing Academy drawingacademy.com/ is good for beginners who want to learn constructive drawing. Life Drawing Academy is good for those who already have some drawing skills and want to learn portrait and figure drawing lifedrawing.academy/ However, the best drawing course you can have is personal tutoring, which is suitable for all levels and gives far more than any other drawing course available today lifedrawing.academy/correspondence-course

    Alright so if its so damn hard and impossible to learn on onea own how the hell did people like guagin, monet and van gogh become so good. Last I heard none of them went to any Russian art schools. Oh and guagin for instance was trained in business he started in his thirties to take art seriousely. Don't let such videos discourage you. If you have the passion, hardwork and talent with the right attitude you will be a great artist even if you don't go to an art school. Next time someone says otherwise just tell them mochaelangelo didn't go to art school eighther.

      Although all of you have made excellent points, and thankyou for letting me know. I still however think becoming a great artist isn't necessarily dependant on formal art education. Will it help, offcourse it will. But videos like the one above say that peart students train for 5 years in school and then many years later too. I am sorry but most renowned artists like Picasso, etc or even the greats that I mentioned before didn't sit in art school for more than 10 years. I agree with the mentor point, but you don't have to be enrolled in an art school to have a mentor. Plus not everyone is interested in learning all different faces of art education. Some people want to focus on one thing and art schools actually are a detriment to them. As for colour theory etc, u can find as much or as little information about that from TH-cam and even skillshare for free so why the hell spend thousands of dollars a year when artists are already under such financial strain. And what about guagin, you guys have completely ignored the fact that him and van gogh were also great but they had no where near a formal art education. Don't just pick and choose people to make a point. Mentors yes can help but the right attitude and perseverance are the most important attributes. And love for creating art. I never said it was easy the odds are always against people but the way art schools act like it's impossible is not necessarily accurate. Plus art is completely subjective anyway. To me people like loish and wlop who produce amazing digital work are artists too, but everyone who is art school trained have this pretentious opinion about other and newer avenues of art that are just as valid nowadays. But art schools will focus on antiquated rules and references which although can be helpful they are NOT all essential. They end up wasting alot of time and effort for minimal results in some cases. None off the greats sat around for 10 years plus in art school, period. They got out and produced art. And that is what the focus should be.

      I'm talking about great masters, not enthusiasts who take fine art as a hobby. Even then, George Meikle Kemp studied Gothic architecture and also studied draughtsmanship at Anderson's Institution; Teutwart Schmitson studied architecture, which requires good art skills and drawing as part of the profession; Heinrich Hoerle studied at the Cologne School of Arts and Crafts although hist style doesn't need any education, and Wlop (Wing Lang) - what it has to do with fine art? Do not mix anyone who can hold a pencil or digital stylus into the list of great fine artists. Study the history of arts; it will give you good taste in art and understanding of what is good and what is the best.
