- Running on Empty is a Australian film released in 1982.
I have been a fan of this movie since I first watched it over 20 years ago. The cars and the Raw footage of all that power without any modern tech for tricks, its just Timeless. I created this video as a Tribute to Running on Empty. I spent a lot of time making this focused on the cars while also attempting to maintain some element of the story too. This is a truly great Australian film with some of the best V8 noises, Hope everyone enjoys. - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน
Best aussie car movie ever made still love it and so do my kids and they are over thirty now...
Wasn't mad max an Aussie car movie?
I’m in the USA but I loved this flick ! You guys have different names for the cars and different set ups as well . We never had a 351 Falcon that I can remember (65 years old) and a Fox Challenger ? What the hell is that ? I need to study up on Aussie car culture , it’s similar here . I just bought a 2023 purple Challenger Hellcat Jailbreak (717 hp ) so I loved seeing the old one in this video . Take care all and thanks for posting this !
Great show BRILLIANT thank you 😊
I saw this at hectorville drive in when it came out .I shared this movie with my son when he was 5 now he watches it with his son one of the great aussie movies made a blind guy in a blown 57 chevy two door love it...green is nice . its not the speed that hurts its sudden stop. and dont burn the snatch kev is burned in my mind im 60 lol
Awesome man, definitely my favourite aussie car film.
Bought this on dvd back in the late 80s early 90s and watched it many many times ... glad to see this compact variety is a good one ....
Great film, glad its being enjoyed.
😂 wait DVD in the 80's. HELP what does this mean??
@@Tish-jq2eh it means I'm old hahahahahahahaha
What? no... This has to be a Mandela Effect...
Brand spanking new GTHO phase 3 did 14.4 1/4 mile off the showroom floor OR 13.9 with an optional 3.9’s diff upgrade
Would have loved to drive a New XY
Great movie, saw it in the 80's as a kid.. a bit later on Metal Skin was another good one from the same genre.
One of the best muscle car movies ever made 😎👍❤
Bloody oath, Grew up watching this film, love the XY Falcons.
@@aussieknuckles Does anyone know where the 57 is these days?
@no-namecrown5510 not sure what happened to it, hopefully someone from the Original Film crew sees your comment and replies.
@@no-namecrown5510 it’s being restored. There is a review of the movie in Street Muscle Magazine from last year. Same owner for the last 30 years.
Catch Me If You Can is worth a watch.
Anyone else notice the Yellow HT at the start ended up crashing a HK Shell. Look at the tail lights, before the explosion 💥
The opening race and crash was in Madeline St, Strathfield South NSW I worked there in the same Street went over to watch them film the scene they had three yellow Monaro's one did the race one the jump over the VW and one in the canal on fire it was fun I had a HQ panel van had to move it because it was in view of shoot Hi Sue where ever you are. Peace out.
Thats so awesome man! A day you'd never forget, always knew/suspected they used multiple Holdens for that scene. Great film, cheers for sharing your experience.
The movie that give birth to thousands of street racers over the years..
Good to see Aunty Jack in the crowd
Such a great movie of all time
The best car movie to come out of Australia
Thats a fact.
"Free" life before " The internet and total electronic control"!
Good memories ... ray
"Hope everyone enjoys"??
They bloody love it!!!
Wow! Love rewatching these Max inspired classics! Back in the day my dad took me to the drive ins...missed this one.
Unusual too that this type of incident (drag races) takes place on a clear sunny day & not at night under the cloak of darkness 🙄 But hey, it is Hollywood after all (almost Hollywood) 😂
Loved this movie, brings back some great memories.
Watch on vhs with my old boy when I was a young kid, when it come out ,still got a DVD, like most ozzy kids in theday in was all was in the fj or the HQ ,neighbours xu1 ,fucking around .
1:05 the Monaro did pretty well for a six cylinder.
Lol good catch
& the bonnet falling off 2 x
Never underestimate the mighty Holden six my friend..Mr Brock didnt. LoL.
Painful to watch so many classic cars getting totalled.
The 1971 351GTHO phase lll Falcon Shaker...Then the 1972 Phase lV...Wishes and Dreams...
This movie really needed a different ending. Did love the cars tho.
The fox 1 challenger still alive lives W.A today !
My favourite car movie of all time, as cheesy as it is
Same
Still a Aussie Classic
Thanks for this Vid Mate👍🇦🇺
Bloody oath, it's been one of my favourites since a kid. Great movie.
I had the XYGS vamilion fire think it was called.
Same red orange as this.
She had same running gear 351 Cleveland, Top loader box, and 9" diff
The GS didn't have the shaker
But had mark4 Air conditioning
Back in 71 that was the top range model.
The GT didn't have AC it was a factory order.
They didn't handle that good really.
It was a nice car though.
I'm old now and wish I had the space to store my old car's.
I love this movie so much, if only a 4k recode would be possible!
I think if you look closely after the XY after it goes under the truck you can see it's a 6cyl car too.
Also noticed in the same scene when the car comes to a stop the fuel filler cap is missing and no fuel running out.
Was a great movie, some of it was filmed in Port Kemble and bulli pass
That HT would be a $200k car now... RIP😢
oh indeed everything in this movie is huge cash now,who would ever thought of it back then😅
The wrecked Holden in that first scene was a 6cyl HK made to look like the 350 HT/HG Monaro, still would be worth a bit though!
yes very true mate
And that XY! Silly money
One of old time favourites 📽📹🎥🎬🎬🎬🎬📹👑📹1️⃣💯🇦🇺⭐️📹
Great movie. Like the old Australian cars.
Great movie
Great movie and thanks for your posting this.
Cheers, timeless film.
Awesome Sweet as LOVED IT. My faviorite movie next to Star Wars. Saw them both at the Movies when they first came out....... Shit I must be getting old LoL. Cheers Dude.
Glad u could relive some memories man, we all gotta get Old sometime.
Aint that the truth.@@aussieknuckles
@@user-ns9jz4cp4c straight up
My father owned the Dodge Challenger in the 70’s and 80’s, was a 440 six pack. Very fast for the time, no brakes though😢
Far out, would have been a monster, sounds awesome.
I love Aussie cars. A lot of people put commodores down but commodores and all Aussie built cars in general are built reasonably tough for the price they originally sold for. Would love a 5 speed VN ss one-day.
Have U seen a crash test on a VB to vn😂😂..built tough I don't think so .far from it actually
@@supraaa94rzObviously he meant engine wise they're built tough
😊😊😊 Nah. VN 5 L APV Group5 I
1 of the bloody greatest movies of all time though.👌
I like how the overarching story is just the main character becoming as ruthless as the villain to win. First introduction to the Phase 3 Falcon when I was younger. Not a car you see over here, but interesting nonetheless. A little weird Ford Australia never bagged some 427s or Cobra Jets for that program before the law cracked down on y'all though.
Sweet movie badd ass rides love em 😊
Mean wheels for sure
Classic Aussie steel!
It turns out his car is not a real GT or HO...just a tarted up Falcon..... and the reshell makes it illegal today.
Doesn't surprise me, the budget was pretty limited, and the film still turned out great regardless.
It's still a real XY Ford Falcon mate😂
Reshell ????? It's just paint & stripes.
Even then a genuine Phase III was far too expensive to risk wrecking for a film.
30:39 This is Lord Humungus stuff!
Old school rules ☯️1️⃣🌅🇦🇺
Bring on the ROEF 2025 in Cobar. It all comes running Back. I heard that the XY that they jumped on the hump (in Thirroul on the South Coast) was repaired & was back on the road. And the Blue XY they were recycling was found in a garage in almost the same state it was in movie.
Green is nice.
Deborah Conway, what a hottie!.
love music
Oath
Leave Julie , and look after the car
$29 full up a v8 wow wouldn't that be nice today
Just spent $90 today on my XR8 an didn't even get a full tank, just 3 quarters, then I continued to burn a quarter tank and my rear tires in one drive lol.
My Subi cost $128 on 98 7 years ago single turbo 2l ej20 was thirsty boosting 14pounds
NZ gas has gone through the roof it $2:61 in places disgrace I'd hate think what it cost to fill Subi up now days. I bike now days lol
@user-oq7uc4sk4f Yeah I've heard NZ fuel prices are crazy, I can understand why u ride bow instead.
If only the good guy knew how to drive instead of smashing classics
True that
Hg v8 turns into a hk 6cl // great aussie movie show many street machines from the 80's
Great filmwork to cut costs but fool the audience, Legendary film.

Bloody oath /
I still have a copy of the film
@@simonellerton1412 same, on VHS.
@@aussieknuckles my vhs copy went walk about 😄 got a cd but
@simonellerton1412 haha it happens, this is my second copy. DVD would be a much better viewing experience.
WTF, how did I not know about this one??? I guess I need to check out old Aussie car movies
One of the best
@@aussieknuckles It's like "The Wraith" and "Fast and Furious" had Baby in Australia.
@@michaelgideon8944 Metal Skin is another good movie like this with Ben Mendelsohn etc.
Cool 😎
Cool as it gets man
Here in Canada it was released as Fast lane fever.
Thats wild, must have been a Copyright issue with that Yankee movie of the same title.
The number plate GTH351 on the Red GTHO is now on a 2005 Holden Rodeo. WTF
Thats fucked up
This definitely was a nod at Two Lane Blacktop and I wonder if the car on fire scene influenced Christine at all?
How many falcons did they destroy?!!!!😲
Too many
I rented this movie at blockbuster video in 1995 under the name " fast lane fever"
Wow thats wierd, never seen it under that name.
I rented it at video store in my town it called that to when the store went out of business years later l bought that copy. That was 30 years ago lol😄😄😄
Theres some weird stuff going on here, this and that other comment saying they had a dvd in the late 80's early 90's when it should of been VHS still.. This has got to be Mandela Effect
that 351 if original is a 500k car now!!
Dont think its an original GT, but yeah they fetch a bit now
Phase 3 versions are getting over a million.....and there was several mock ups made for the movie all easy to spot...the one nice one never got a scratch on it.
All were basic Falcons made to look like Phase IIIs.
I can't watch.... It's a horror movie 😳🥺😱
Mad profile pic
The original fast & the frivolous, although I can't remember if there was car theft and/or car trafficking in this movie 😅
Was some of that shot at Kernel? Or is it Melbourne?
What happened to the 57 where is it today? It was such a cool car !
It's still around
The all yellow car looked a lot like a two door mk3 Cortina (I know it wasn't).
70's Aussies have zero chill.😂
8:37 I know he said "put $10 on the falcon", but first thought he said "potatoes and fail cream" 😧
They weren't classics then.
You will need calenders to time y'all fellas, y'all need to go back home and pop the hood
Piss Off isn't that a polish name .
For years people haven't understood me when I've mad that joke lol
@@aussieknuckles He he green is nice .

What an amazingly shitty film. 😂
cmon it made a nice change from watching Van Damme doing the same kick from 5 different camera angles.
Those were the days great Aussie movie
I was there bro..in that day n scene..
Classic Movie....
Sad to see Hyundai's, Teslas n Toyotas all over the place....
Almost as good as MAD,MAX....(I SAID ALMOST)
Better than Mad Max
