Except, the government CREATED the situation that caused him to fraudulently obtain a PPP loan by forcing businesses to close under penalty and causing millions of businesses to fail. I saw several restaurants, bars and services companies fail during the plandemic because they were forced to stay closed and couldn't earn income. With that in mind, while he should still face consequences, it should be considered that the only reason the hard working defendant even is in this situation is because he was forced into a survival situation by no fault of his own
Typical attorney makes him sound like a victim. Key word is illegally.....obtaining the money by fraud. He knows the game. You play you pay. He paying with prison time
They also shut small businesses down and gave money and perks to huge corporations I would argue "illegally" but the government gets to break its own rules..
@@nashonabo821 My niece had a Girl Scout person stealing their cookie money! She was selling boxes and boxes of cookies at work and kept all of the money! She gave her checks that bounced and had no remorse! The judge in small claims told her he was putting a judgement on her pay and if she quit her job that she would go to prison! No excuses for stealing!
Aholes like this con man don't pay taxes. They scam their way out thru loop holes. The damage is done. I know 5 business that closed, and would have stayed open. FK him.
With a felony charge on his record, it’s unbelievable that he will be able to satisfy restitution. He should have considered that while committing his crime.
He really thinks we give a rat's a! He got caught and has excuses for doing it! There are people that live paycheck to paycheck and would never dream of stealing!
Im sure all those contractors around here did the same thing..but did still work under the table money...plus had plenty of money to live on..people took advantage of all that crap that happened..got full paychecks ?? Sat back and took a nice vacation...
Justin this is spot on. I would like to hear you elaborate more on these payroll protection loans that seem to have been a big pitfall for many.. will you think about doing that to help us understand
Obtain a $1,000,000,000 loan with a workforce of nearly 50 persons, assuming that payroll was met, with a factor of 2,3, years. Residing in California, which is considered a high cost of living. Wonder what their pay was. You can normally dial it in, if vall the factors are there. But if he pockets the money, then hits the casino or the tracks, hell yea he deserves the big house, but if he did the right thing, hell no, let him pay it back. Look at Willie Nelson. He owed $ 15 million dollars in back taxes, it, took him for ever doing concerts, but they work with him.
How do you support a “client”, what the heck do you bring to the table???? It’s bad enough that this so called guy (who is more likely a figment of your imagination), has to deal with having to pay an attorney, why and what are you providing???
Here’s my take. Many lawyers are not experts in preparing you to face the music when the worst happens and the feds come for you. Justin’s company seems to offer the clients the dose of reality they need. Guiding them through the wake up call they require to come out and be a better person and make the best of a bad situation…
I hear all the flatulence arguments here, "he stole..blah blah blah..pffft.." So, you are perfect? You never did anything wrong? Unlike the wiz bangs that comment here I know what it's like to have a family member go through the federal judicial system and even though we won it is an experience you'll never forget. You absolutely were right. The prosecutor was heartless and punitive and unless he is psychic has no idea what the future holds. The Bible says it best, "Judge not lest ye shall be judged.." Give the guy a chance. The prosecution got their victory so why should the taxpayers like me pay for incarceration if it is not necessary??? Over and over spiritual teachings preach forgiveness and second chances, in fact, religious writings say many chances should be given for redemption.
Yeah I disagree. How do you overcome the presumption that restitution is nothing more than buying your way out of jail early? Spending the rest of your life making amends is too broad, nonspecific, and generic. Would have been better if your client did something for the community prior to the PSI. Prosecutor is just doing his job. Good luck to you and your client at sentencing.
He is a criminal and stole from the people when we were going through a massive crisis. Sorry, no sympathy from me. The prosecutor is also probably correct.
Yeah, because he is a victim..Only sorry because he got caught. Typical lawyer.

Lots of law enforcement got PPP loans for "side businesses" with ghost employees.
Screw him. Some business closed because they couldn't get the ppp loan.
But do you want to pay tax dollars to warehouse this person or have them working paying taxes???

@@Flyrabbit1 No a lien should be put on his pay each week until it's paid back! His father raised a slime ball!

Your client is a thief.
That's not an awful comment. They defrauded the government once.
Stop already. He needs to go to jail

So defendants with money should be allowed to buy their way out early?
