This sounds EXACTLY like me!! I’m thinking of getting mine done. I️ take 2 other preventative meds daily for my migraines. You explained the symptoms so well and the symptoms of the imitrex! Good luck!
Yes! Mine are like yours, no aura. I got mine done 11 days ago. I had a migraine going into it and it went away as soon as it was pierced. I get them 3 x a week and for 11 days I have not had any, which is amazing!
Thank you for this video, it must be such a relief to have the reduction in the migraines even if they haven't completely gone away! I had mine pierced just over a week ago! I get similar migraines (no aura, splitting headache and nausea but I get a horrid neck ache!), suffered since I was about 7/8. Also on sumatriptan- that drug is a miracle, but I hate taking triptans (and the Dr had me on beta blockers before). I hope this works for me at least to reduce them, I think it would actually change me life.
I have to take the same migraine meds as you! It helps a lot for me and I'm taking it basically as often as you were before the piercing. I'm getting my daith this weekend, thank god.
Sumatriptan is so hard on me too. It helps but it makes my whole body feel like numb and my ability to communicate tanks too. It’s the only thing that dulls the pain though.
I'm looking in to getting my daith pierced bc I get headaches almost everyday since I've gotten a concussion 5 months ago and my doctor said they weren't going to go away even tho I'm talking about 4 different kinds of meds I'm glad I saw this video
I know this video is old so I'm not sure how your migraines are now but you should look into Irlen Syndrome I have had migraines my whole life, I literally can't remember a time I haven't had some sort of headache 24/7 but I got irlen glasses and it's helped a lot.
Hey so I’ve had migraines also since I was 7 years old and pretty frequently. I plan to get a daith piercing. But I was wondering if you have ever tried vitamin combinations? I also took sumatriptan a few years ago with topiramate and they had the worst effects on me. My mom suggested I take daily vitamins: CoQ10 and a supplement of Calcium/Vitamin D3/Magnesium. I take it daily and for the last couple years I’ve regulated them so well. It’s so much cheaper than medication and there’s no side effects. I wish there was more research into this type of migraine relief. But it definitely has helped me. I used to have chronic migraines every other day and now I have them maybe once a week and depending on what part of the year, it may be less than that. I take a consistent dosage of 100mg of CoQ10 and 200mg of Magnesium every morning. Hope it helps!
I also take sumatriptan but my side affects are just a lot of pressure in my head. But I am thinking about getting the piercing. And also I have realized I have to drink coffee in order to not get a migraine.
Have been getting Botox for the last 7 years... work fairly well. New doctor and the Botox isn't working well at all.... the medication is suppose to be used sparingly, which is bull, when your are having a migraine, you will do anything to make it stop! I heard about daith piercing, read up on it and it worked for 95% of those who have done it, so I went to a clean tattoo salon, and quiz the young man... wasn't going in to get it yet, was only quizzing him, but left with the piercing... I figure it would work after a few months, if at all.... well the following day we had a storm, and never felt it... drank Vodka, which is another trigger and I stopped drinking it, and no migraine... one day I was feeling a little bit of one, took a Motrin and it was gone, which NEVER helped before... I can handle that any-day!!
I've heard it's pronounced as däth (dahth) not dayth. But hey! If it helps with migraines... 👍*thumbs up* I'm seriously considering getting one. I get retinal migraines, and ones that start in the base of my skull.
are you supposed to get the piercing on the ear that corresponds with the side of your head that you get the most headaches? I get migraines a lot on my right side but I already have a lot of piercings on that side.
I have heard that, but I don't know if it actually makes any difference or not. I think a lot of people do it that way because it seems like it would work best.
Celeste M I've heard that you have to do the opposite side but I've also heard you have to do the same side. I can really only fit the piercing on my left ear but my migraines are on the right side. I guess I'll just have to try it out! Thanks!
Hi Celeste! I got my daith pierced 2 months ago, and while it doesn't hurt exactly when I clean it anymore there is blood on the qtip when I clean it but it looks perfectly normal. Did you experience any of this? Thanks!
Hm, no, mine healed completely I believe around the 2 month mark and I haven't noticed any pain or blood since then. Does yours seem inflamed at all? I'm not really an expert on healing but yours may be just taking a little longer to heal totally. You might want to talk to your piercer about it if you're concerned!
I'm genetically predisposed and I have all kinds of triggers - air pressure, going too long without eating or drinking, not getting enough sleep, being around smoke, not being able to breathe well, getting overheated, general sensory overload. Probably other stuff I'm forgetting 😊
Celeste M I see.. I have a friend who suffers from migrains, but he get his every 2-3 years and they last continuesly for about 10 weeks and then stop.. It's not like he gets them every now and then, he is in pain non stop for 10 whole months every 2-3 years .. And medication doesn't help him.. I don't know if a daith piercing could help him as well, but i defenetily going to suggest him getting one.. It's nit a big deal anyways..
NEVER HEARD OF THIS. I have migraines (not nearly as frequent as yours). Now I have a legit reason to get another piercing.
I'm glad you've gotten some relief from it! love the hair color btw
Thank you! =)

Awesome, I hope it keeps up for you!

Interesting, thanks! I've taken magnesium, calcium, and D3 before but not CoQ10. I'll look into it!

Oh and I'm 55, wasn't into piercings since HS, in 1976.... so worth it!!
thank you for telling your story
I am suffered from migrain.Seen video a miracle
Tomorrow 15th April 2018 will be a month since I got mine done. I'd suffer from migraines too, it's hell!
I take the same. It makes me highly nauseous and it makes my skin hurt. I may have to get a new piercing.

Yeah, you're right, I was pronouncing it incorrectly! I learned that later, whoops 😊
Try Excedrin extra strength I just got my daith done today

Good luck! I'd be interested to hear how it goes!
I was taking the sumatriptan but stopped after I read that it is not good to take with anti depressants!

(Not trying to be disrespectful I just got reminded of this song)
I-I-I I GOT A MIGRANE
N MY PAIN WILL RANGE FROM UP DOWN AND SIDEWAYS
Do you know what causes your migrains?
I'm genetically predisposed and I have all kinds of triggers - air pressure, going too long without eating or drinking, not getting enough sleep, being around smoke, not being able to breathe well, getting overheated, general sensory overload. Probably other stuff I'm forgetting 😊
Celeste M I mean is that a disease or something? Does it has a name?
Just migraine on its own as a recurring/chronic condition.
Celeste M I see.. I have a friend who suffers from migrains, but he get his every 2-3 years and they last continuesly for about 10 weeks and then stop.. Oh, interesting! I've never heard of it presenting that way. It's worth a shot!
Who here thought she was a boy in the picture?
