Your use case a diesel isn’t needed. Unless you’re towing 10k+ daily you don’t need a diesel. Any fuel saving you saved is gone with the first major repair.
Get rid of it asap.
A DCR is well worth the money and peace of mind. Changed my CP4 at 120k miles currently at 200k. On a side note my CP4 looked brand new when I cracked it open, but I always used a fuel additive. It's not that difficult to install, took me about 5hrs but I already had a pusher kit so a bit easier.
I get where you’re coming from. I don’t have a super duty so I don’t have all the same thoughts. I have at 18 ram 2500 and when it comes to the admission systems, I live in a state that doesn’t have testing and I’ve always thought that if and when I have a problem, I will eliminate the problem that is to go and gain better fuel economy, and performance. As for the CP4 pump my dad has a 2019 F350 and he has a little over 160,000 miles on his and has never had an issue and he does a lot of traveling across country with his fifth wheel. But after all the years I’ve been watching new channel I have a feeling you’ll eliminate the problem with a new truck. Maybe new ram or ram heavy duty:)
I hear your issues. Your videos are very informative and well put together. I would say that if you really do not need a diesel, but still need the strong chassis, purchase a GASOLINE F250/350. That should ease your dilemma.
Try not to lose sleep over it. Just use additives of your choice. It’s beneficial for DPF and cp4.2
What keeps me happy about my purchase is if the pump does take a shit then replace with new DCR pump and if it doesn’t and you get 250k-300k well then you got your money out of the pump and replace it with DCR
But my opinion replacing pump as a preventative is kinda overkill if under warranty but if it’s out of warranty, we’ll just like insurance it’s a cheap investment.
Every thing you said is spot on. I live in fear but I love the power this truck has even with a lift and 37s it Just goes when I need it
I got tired of dealing with the diesel issues and went with the godzilla.
Snag a new 2500 with the high output hurricane and 4.10 gears Rebel HD edition next summer. I’ve got a hemi myself but the new hurricane is a beast despite the hate
I just made my appointment to put in the S&S DCR. Now I just hope I make it to the appt!😂
Get rid of it. Never liked it anyway. Do you even really “need” a 3/4 ton? I’d have to be towing basically every day to justify it…rides like garbage, expensive to keep serviced, expensive to repair..and for what? If you don’t tow enough to justify having it then get rid of it.
Always use protection.
Carfax said my egr was replaced at 145k miles so hopefully I don’t have to replace that anytime soon. I either keep it till 220k miles and drop a new engine in it or I sell it.
The 2 main issues you named is far worth more to get rid of instead of a warranty. I can attest ford will get out of pump failure. They will almost always say fuel contaminated. You take care of these 2 issues, you don’t need a warranty. These engines or tough and can take a beating.
If anyone can swing it….just get the dcr pump and be done with it.
DCR pump ,👍 then if emissions act up just remove it.. thats my two cents..
ITS THE GOVERNMENT
my 17 Duramax started throwing emissions codes so I cleared them out and traded it in on a new 2022 2500 Chevy 6.6 gas
They gave me 54500 and the new one cost 57300
this 22 is one of my favorite trucks ever i will never buy another diesel The government killed the diesel on purpose when diesel mechanics proved they can tune a diesel and make it burn cleaner than emissions they just stuck their finger in their ears
Change the pump.
squeaky door... Yah, had the same on my 2017 FORD F150 Lariat 3.5L Ecoboost. Initially I tried the FORD lub grease, but that didn't work. I ended up replacing the door check arm. Good luck!
