It looks very promising and I am very interested in this project. Can't wait to see the end result, I own a 14 FJ and being able to roll the rear windows down would just add to the value of my rig
It's looking great Daryl, It’s getting better and better with each iteration. I don’t think most people appreciate just how tough it is to throw out the good work of one version for the possibility of a better version. Those are tough decisions. Your videos are great at explaining what’s involved in the R&D process, and they have the added benefit of giving future customers a sense of what will go into installing the buddy window mod when the unit is ready for sale. For one, I can't wait for it. It’s going to make a phenomenal difference to FJ owner’s day to day experience of the FJ and because of it, I feel the FJ will instantly become a more attractive vehicle to own. I suppose this shows that I am sold on it :-) ….. Just Awesome.
If you put these doors on the market you can count on me to get em'. I hope your able to just manufacture the doors for people to buy and install with some tweaks here and there. If people have to do major modifications I think it will turn most buyers off. Keep doing Gods work my man, it looks awesome!
I love this project, thanks for keeping us updated! I know you have your hands full, but the obvious next project would be to make the back (trunk) window roll down like a 4runner!
Awesome work my man, love the concept of having those rear windows actually roll up & down, kudos to you Sir. Another idea that came to me while watching this video, I remember you saying everytime we come up with a process of doing a job, you can always find an easier way to accomplish it. My idea comes from an old 1996 dodge caravan I use to own, which had those 2 lrg rear windows on either side that opened like a vent, that were hinged on one side, but had what I call a servo motor that would open on the other side of the window to vent, wouldn't something like that cost a lot less to reproduce for the FJ even though roll down is the ultimate answer to FJ's rear window issues, but window that vent could also be another option for you guys to explore at least it could give the consumer a cheaper alternative and give you guys 2 ways to satisfy a customer. Just some food for thought. 😎👍👍
Oh man, this is awesome, I was thinking about buying an FJ but wasn't too sure. now seeing this, I'm definitely getting one. I just hope you can ship it to Kuwait
Just a thought. Will this have to have any regulatory approval; by say, the NHTSA? You mentioned leaving the seatbelt retractors as is, in place; which is a likely very smart move. Just wondering if this will even technically change any occupant safety standards. Not sure if it matters on a vehicle no longer actively sold by the manufacturer.
I think this one is a better because it looks like there is more window and I do think this is super important. If there is ever a need for the back to exit a bigger window like you have is an option to get someone out.
Just watched all your videos this morning. Glad to see you taking this on again and really putting the love into it. I saw your original powered window videos years ago and been wanting it ever since. I'll start saving for the kit! 1 thought I had... Since the factory rear door has a sealed window, is there any kind of water management built in to the door? If not, is this something that has to be factored in now that you have a window with the possiblity of water entering through the window seals or while it's open?
Thanks for tuning back in after all this time! Great question and yes there will be instructions to make a set of holes at the bottom of the door so water can escape.
Awesome concept! We have two FJs and would love to see these kits installed into our FJs. Any chance that once this is done, could you make a rear electric roll down for the FJs like the 4Runners rear windows? Thank you and keep at it!👍
We finally secured a shop to build the interior panel pieces we needed. We are hoping to be able to provide an update soon! Thank you for your patience.
Sorry no new updates yet. We were waiting on the interior panel pieces to find a company to make them in high numbers. We've done that. Just trying to finalize some more details before pricing and options will be made public. Thank you for your patience!
Not yet. We are hoping to get these finished up soon. We just need to find a shop to produce the plastic interior caps to the cuts we made. Then we will release a video with further instructions to everyone else.
This project is so cool and seeing how you guys figure out how to make it a DIY kit is pretty awesome. Good luck and looking forward to more updates.

Have you ever tried the
Honda element quarter window system? it seem about the same size of the FJ
We have not looked into this yet.

That's a great idea. We would be afraid all the dogs would want to jump out!
In case you didn't know... There is a kit for powered lift on the rear window.
@@MitchMelin Where????
Any update on when these could be purchased?
We finally secured a shop to build the interior panel pieces we needed. We are hoping to be able to provide an update soon! Thank you for your patience.
Love the idea
Daryl was hellbent on finding a solution for his pups to ride along and get fresh air. Or maybe it was Daryl who needed the fresh air?

Not yet. We are hoping to get these finished up soon. We just need to find a shop to produce the plastic interior caps to the cuts we made. Then we will release a video with further instructions to everyone else.
When this happens, please make video instructions as well as paper (pdf) instructions.
We will make sure to have a start to finish video once all the details are ironed out!
I wish there is away to make the fj windows bigger
There is. Buy a Tacoma.
