  • Harry started wondering about the legitimacy of our current system of time zones when he realized that time zones have not only been politically weaponized, but even cause us biological harm. In his talk, Harry will explore whether it is time for us to once and for all get rid of time zones, and proposes the idea for a universally coordinated time. Harry Law is a first year Theater and Performance Student studying at the University of Warwick. He has a vision towards a future with universal coordinated time, a discussion topic he puts forward in his talk. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

It was Samoa that changed its timezone to be closer to New Zealand and Australia in 2011, not Kiribati, Kiribati changed theirs in 1994.

I agree that the world should move to UTC, but just because it simplifies things. Time zones, daylight savings time, and the 12 hour clock aren't necessary anymore, and they just make things more complicated. Time zones do make things a little easier when you travel long distances, because you have a sense of when eating, sleeping, working, etc. will be. However, it should just be a quick lookup for a person when they travel to know what time people there eat lunch, go to bed, etc. and it wouldn't be too hard.

Don't get me wrong: I can understand why the English would want to impose their time system on the rest of the world. It sort of sums up what being English is about.

I shouldve touched on this in the talk but if UTC was to be implemented worldwide there are other benchmarks available for UTC, to do with meridians and astronomy. I discussed GMT as that's the version of UTC used by pilots/stockbrokers currently

The reason why we have time zones because day and night comes at different times due to the earth rotation
It looks weird if you live in China
      Western part of China
Sunrise at 10:15am but the actual time is 7:15am
That’s the time in Beijing chana 10:15am

I’ve thought about what it would be like if “the first zone” were located either in the Pacific or Atlantic - that way, no country gets a local standard whose numbers are really “clean-looking”.

There's a Human whom talks about a certain Elite whom uses The Great Reset as term
The Prophet Muhammed said: The disagreement of my Nation / Umma is a Blessing
There's a Quote from Allah himself in The Qur'an
Shia Tradition: Peoples needs of you are God's blessing to you, effectively be kind
IMHO: I feel a certain ammount of Ordet is nessecay, otherwise; Allah is The God ... We can not control Allah, he shaped us
