    I haven't commented in a few years. I really enjoyed this video. I felt like it went back to the videos you used to post. It focused on the "subject" and really gave the viewer a front seat view of the scary ride up those steep one-way roads. Enjoyed seeing the really old cabins and wondered what life was like up there. Gave us a true view of "wonder what's up there?" Hope you will do more of hidden areas of the smokies and it's history.

    This was an incredible video!!! I was in the back seat going along for that ride. It was SCARY!!! I would be afraid if a fire was on the mountain side, and I had to drive down. Thanks for showing ALL of us what's at the top of Bluff Mountain. 👍👍👍👍👍

    Amazing views but my concern would be wildfires. We were evacuated during the 2016 and 2022 fires. Thankfully, we were spared. One way in one way out. We were up in the fire tower years ago. Beautiful drive.

    Oh my goodness beautiful views, but I would be terrified driving that road. If it rains then the fog would be really bad. We stayed in a condo in Gatlinburg up on the very top off Campbell lead road. It rain and even though it was evening we like to have not made it back to the condo. It scared me to death.so I can only imagine how bad it would be on Bluff Mountain when it rained. Thanks for sharing this beautiful place.

    Ted Miller's family used to live up there, before guard rails (when he was GM of Dollywood), I bet that nice house was theirs. I think the little cabins were like for hunting or summer trips. I'm glad to see the road has improved since my last visit, lol, thanks for taking me there!

    Thanks for the video, Will and Dawn. I always look forward to seeing Bluff Mountain from a distance when we visit the Smokies. No way would I want to drive or ride on that road! I imagine when leaves are on the trees that the views are really obscured. I remember being in Pigeon Forge a few years ago when some cabins caught on fire up there. Thanks for showing us what the actual road is like and sharing your adventure with us. Stay safe!

    Thank you. You just brought back old memories from back in the 80s when I worked for a local two-way radio repair company. I used to go up there to check the radio equipment. WIVK's power was so strong that it would bleed into the speakers of the radio system in my truck. Thanks again for bringing up old memories.

    Those views were absolutely amazing up there on top of Blufg Mountain but that road sure looked aweful scary. I have seen Bluff Mountain from Pigeon Forge and I flew over it on a helicopter ride but I have never driven up it and looking at that road I probably never will. Thanks for sharing this adventure with us and taking us there to enjoy that incredible view.

    OMG, I stumbled onto your all's channel through another channel that was hating on you all. Well, I LOVE your channel. I've been watching you all for three days now,. I've been to the Smoky Mountains many times, but I never knew about Bassom Mountain Road or even Cataloochee before I saw your channel. So, at least some good came from the haters channel.
    I hope you all just keep doing what you're doing. And don't even acknowledge those people who are hating on you all. Don't give them any power. They're obviously jealous of something.

    I had a cabin 3 miles up and you are correct. I was 7 miles from town 3 miles up and it’s definitely a long trip down. I had internet and all utilities but winter was awful. It’s more of a retirement thing. I gym 4 days a week so coming to town is important to me. But the road going to my mountain home was just like the one you went up. Only up and down going out to my place. And yeah I sold it for quite a lot. I’m only 40 but not ready to retire. I’m so active and being trapped up on a mountain top is not on my to do list. I’d rather just go up and take pics and come back down. It’s safer that way. Plenty of time to find the right property that isn’t so far up. Many love love love that view and it’s a million dollar view , but it comes with a cost. I love your content. You got a new sub! Oh I live in the next county over so I frequent Sevierville and Pigeon. Keep up the good work. I love your videos !!!!

    We watched this last night and got a kick out of your Michigan cabin comment We live in South Haven Michigan and see many older cabins along the rivers and occasionally the lakes although the lakeshores are being bought up by the very wealthy at an alarming rate
    We have traveled and vacationed there many times so once we saw one of your videos near Townsend where we had just stayed we were hooked and have viewed from time to time
    We love to see you go places we haven’t been which helps us decide whether we might go there and we love seeing you go where we have been and hearing your impressions and recalling our experiences
    Thanks for the fun

  • @KaireLou
    @KaireLou ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I am a flat lander and those types of roads scare me especially if there is a very recognizable steep drop off. Yikes. The house for sale is cute. For me I love views looking up at mountains rather than from the top of mountains.

  • @tennesseesmoky9012
    @tennesseesmoky9012 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Originally, I believe that this was a family homestead up on top. Then more and more folks built cabins thinking they could rent them out. But without improved roads, most tourists just won’t make that trip up and down the mountain. When it snows your not moving at all. Steep pig trail roads, narrow with some places you can’t even pass another vehicle. No shoulder drop offs that would certainly send you a long way down the bluff. Beautiful views. Cabin rentals went bust up there. - Tennessee Smoky

    As a contractor for 30+ years that 'cabin' on the mountain is a knock-down. You'll spend more fixing it than you would knocking it down and building up from the foundation.

    The best was seeing Mt. LeConte! Oh my 😱 to think that my teenage son wanted to hike that! Thank THE ALMIGHTY that the road that takes you to the trailhead was closed when we went in December. 😰 🙏🏼 We are flatlanders like soneone mentioned & from tropical weather, in no way were we prepared to hike it. It had been snowing for the remainder of our vacation. We should've hiked to Mt. LeConte the day we made it to Alum Cave, but I didn't plan this trip, it was 2 city slickers/flatlanders... my husband & his brother in law. 😁
