Kazbegi in Georgia: The Full Travel Guide
We took a day tour with Holiday Factory which starts with a lunch at local restaurant, finding Halal food is challenging in this area therefore we had to be content with Vegetarian options with lots of salads, pasta and Khachapuri which is the most famous local dish.
Russia Georgia Friendship Monument
First stop-over starting tour from Gudauri ski resort was Russia Georgia Friendship Monument or Treaty of Georgievsk Monument is a monument built in 1983 to celebrate the bicentennial of the Treaty of Georgievsk and the ongoing friendship between Soviet Georgia and Soviet Russia.
Located on the Georgian Military Highway between the ski resort town of Gudauri and the Jvari pass, the monument is a large round stone and concrete structure overlooking the Devil's Valley in the Caucasus mountains. Inside the monument is a large tile mural that spans the whole circumference of the structure and depicts scenes of Georgian and Russian history. The famous Georgian architect Giorgi designed it and placed it on a spot offering a spectacular view over the surrounding landscape.
The place offers some of the most exciting activities in this region including Paragliding and Horse Riding, we also came across some new wed couples having wedding photo shots with these scenic views on the backdrop.
Kazbegi Tour
One of the absolute must-visit places in Georgia, Kazbegi has to be a key part of any itinerary to this country.
Even if you only come to Georgia for a few days, you seriously need to make sure you get to Kazbegi, because you will not regret it!
An area in the high Caucasus mountains, Kazbegi is actually named after the largest mountain here - Mount Kazbek - and the gorgeous highland scenery of this area’s namesake can’t fail to move you.
Kazbegi offers travellers some of Georgia’s most beautiful scenery, so if you’re interested in landscape, hiking, mountains, or all of the above, then heading to this area is a must.
This is the postcard emblem of Georgia and seeing it in real life, or even better, walking up to it, is a truly amazing experience.
In addition to this, tons of other accessible walking trails, stunning valleys and horse riding opportunities also make Kazbegi a traveller favourite.
Add to this the traditional village life, sense of isolation, as well as peace and quiet that can be found here, and Kazbegi makes the perfect place to relax and unwind.
The main town in the region is Stepantsminda, which is where most of the accommodation and tourist facilities are. This town is also near to the famous Gergeti Church.
Stepantsminda is around a 3 hour drive from the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi and is only an hour from the Russian border.
It’s also worth knowing that the drive to get to Kazbegi takes you along the Georgian Military Highway, which is one of the most stunning roads in the whole of Georgia - quite a claim for this country I can tell you.
As such, enjoying the scenery on the way to and from Kazbegi is also a huge part of the travel experience here.
Winters in Georgia can be fiercely cold with snow and freezing temperatures not uncommon across the country, especially in mountainous areas such as Kazbegi.
At this time, many roads become impassable, travelling difficult and hiking impossible, so I would not advise visiting at this time.
Instead, I would definitely visit Georgia during their summer months, when the climate is wonderfully warm and the skies are blue.
The summer season here runs roughly from May to September but October was also comfortable when we visited.
Gergeti Trinity Church
Gergeti Trinity Church is a popular name for Holy Trinity Church near the village of Gergeti in Georgia. The church is situated on the right bank of the river Chkheri, at an elevation of 2170 meters.
The Gergeti Trinity Church was built in the 14th century by an unknown architect. Its isolated location on top of a steep mountain surrounded by the vastness of nature has made it a symbol for Georgia.
Mount Kazbek
Mount Kazbek or Mount Kazbegi is a dormant stratovolcano and one of the major mountains of the Caucasus, located on the Russian-Georgian border - in Russia's North Ossetia region and Georgia's Kazbegi District.
Mount Kazbek is one of 10 highest peaks in Russia and the third-highest peak in Georgia (after Mount Shkhara and Janga) and the seventh-highest summit in the Caucasus Mountains

I'm not liking the devil's valley it may be a paragliders paradise but I have a phobia of heights it's so scary ...I'm loving the 3rd highest mountain of Georgia 🇬🇪....ya it's a steep place but I can walk easily on such terrains ...I enjoyed the tour MashaAllah and of course you're brave ...thank you for the amazing tour

In which month did you visit Georgia and what were the temperatures in Tiblisi Kazbegi and Gadauri at that time?
We went end of October 2021, Tbilisi was around 20c and Gadauri Kazbegi were around 10c to 15c. It was very pleasant sunny weather at that time..

Overall it was a good experience. Ofcourse Airarabia is a budget airline so you can’t compare the experience with good airlines but it wasn’t bad. Holiday factory package was very convenient and was cheaper then going for flight and hotel booking on your own. Only thing we didn’t like was they only give twin bed rooms per two persons with no option of a family room

Yes indeed we had a good experience.. its convenient to have flight, hotel, insurance, and airport pick-up drop etc in one package that too at a decent price.. the guides are also helpful
