I'm going to get so much hate but personally I dislike Gregg the most out of all characters in NITW. The positives you've mentioned are correct however, when pointing flaws: I feel that he gives a message contrary to the game, although not entirely, the game has growing up and maturing as an important part of it. Gregg is the most irresponsible one and the one who has everything best settled. Like Bea says, he steals, slacks and leaves work at will, and he keeps his job, has a stable relationship and is going to move to a better house. I see him counterproductive, of how he refuses to mature and yet has all the good stuff. And at his last hang out, he blatantly blames you for his attitude? That's low.
That's alright, differing takes will always be welcome on my channel! I may not agree with you, but I definitely understand where you're coming from. On my Bea video, a lot of people expressed that they prefer her route because of the fact that she's the one who really helps Mea grow and mature. So I don't think you're alone in feeling that way!

He and Angus are doing well enough to move so he likely isn't doing stupid stuff nearly as much without her. He says something to that effect during the knife fight scene. Gregg is definitely better off, which isn't fair, but I feel like there's evidence that Gregg is probably more responsible when he's not around Mae.
I think you misinterpreted the game’s themes as being fully supportive of growing up, when really it seems to take a much more complex stance towards becoming an adult in a traditional sense. Sure, half of the time you have characters like Bea and Angus acting as good examples of responsibility and maturity, but the other half of the time the game focuses on how worn down people can get as they grow up. Almost all of the fully-fledged adults in the game have had the joy sucked out of them and are desperately clinging to the past. This is best illustrated by the contrast between Bea and Mae. While Bea works well as an example of responsibility for Mae, she’s also adopted the fixed, defeatist mindset of adulthood. On the other hand, while Mae can be an irresponsible, unempathetic asshole, she also has a brutal honesty and liveliness that Bea needs. The game takes a nuanced look at the clash between being childish and being adult, showing the negatives and positives of both.
