  • There's no way you can just decide you're going to be a Virtual Assistant one day and hand your notice in the next. That would be madness, wouldn't it?
So you're going to have to do the VA stuff while still employed. But how?
Hi, I'm Catherine Gladwyn, Virtual Assistant, VA Mentor and number one bestselling author of multi-award winner, How to be a Virtual Assistant and The 20% Rule.

I've just bought you book Catherine and I've love reading it on the tube while travelling into work. I'm a night shift worker and wondered if that would be an issue while trying to start up my VA business. This video is brilliant and gives me even more reassurance that I can make this work! Thanks for all the free advice you provide, you're a diamond! 😊

You're very kind, thank you. No, no issue at all. You'd just do everything at different times to those who work in the day. You've got this 🧡

I love all of your content! Honestly one of my favourite accounts on Instagram. I previously spoke to my Manager about me setting up around work, for extra income for cost of living and also eventually wanting to buy a house. I felt like they came back with excuses saying they're not sure because of tax given I'm PAYE, and if I work with competitors with it being a conflict of interest, as well as citing my mental wellbeing. But there was no forum for discussion, more of a no but wait and see if you get a pay rise. I've not given up yet though, but it's disheartening when I know so many others in the business are small business owners in the company xx

Thank you for your lovely comments. Your employers sound like idiots. If it's not in your contract about conflict of interest they can swivel. As for your own well-being - ha, they're actually going to make it worse if they don't agree. You can tell them that from me! 🧡

Hi Catherine, currently consuming all your videos! The 'Get started as a VA', seems to be your most comprehensive course. Do you offer a bundle though? I'm interested in your bookeeping, diary management, wordpress and marketing courses too!

Hiya. I don't offer a bundle no, but maybe something for me to consider in the future. However, the Starter Guide is actually £50 off and I used to charge £3k when delivered 1:1. Plus all courses have a phenomenal ROI.

In terms of getting my first client, is there a way to do this without alerting friends and family ti what I’m doing? I’d rather not reach out to them. I understand the “they might know someone thing” but I’d rather not do that.
Thanks you for all the great advice! I’ve just binged watched nearly all your videos 😂🥰

Not really because you'll need to promote yourself and they'll see that.
