@mosin_ms the BYZANTINES and sassanids did suffer defeat after defeat however this was after 30 years of constant warfare between the 2, so any veteran soldiers they would've had were long dead aswell as their skilled generals. Fantastic feat but that whole 30 years of warfare kinda puts a grain of salt on that achievement. Also can't forget that before the Prophet the arabian peninsula was massively militaristic so all the soldiers they did have would've been battle tested. And to this original claim, it wasn't the best. The ottomans, roman republic, british empire, napoleonic france, and the US in the 20th century all are more likely candidates for the best army of all time. There's a reason the rashidun caliphate isn't in the top 10 for military victories.

Again the rashidun caliphate was ahead of its time, absolutely and any list of a top 10 when talking about military, culture, society, and science is not complete without them on it. I'm just not convinced the rashidun expansion, despite being extremely impressive, is the best army ever assembled, that undoubtedly has to go to the grandee arme under napoleon.
@mosin_ms well it's not completely wrong, they only had a couple hundred years of success and then it was just a slow death from muslims and crusaders. However to say the byzantines were not that strong would only hurt the rashiduns strength. But I don't buy it as they were able to fight off parthians, germanic tribes, fight through revolts in Thrace, and held off attacks from empires like the rashiduns, seljuks, and the golden horde for centuries.

@mosin_ms the BYZANTINES and sassanids did suffer defeat after defeat however this was after 30 years of constant warfare between the 2, so any veteran soldiers they would've had were long dead aswell as their skilled generals. Fantastic feat but that whole 30 years of warfare kinda puts a grain of salt on that achievement. Also can't forget that before the Prophet the arabian peninsula was massively militaristic so all the soldiers they did have would've been battle tested. And to this original claim, it wasn't the best. The ottomans, roman republic, british empire, napoleonic france, and the US in the 20th century all are more likely candidates for the best army of all time. There's a reason the rashidun caliphate isn't in the top 10 for military victories.

Again the rashidun caliphate was ahead of its time, absolutely and any list of a top 10 when talking about military, culture, society, and science is not complete without them on it. I'm just not convinced the rashidun expansion, despite being extremely impressive, is the best army ever assembled, that undoubtedly has to go to the grandee arme under napoleon.
@mosin_ms well it's not completely wrong, they only had a couple hundred years of success and then it was just a slow death from muslims and crusaders. However to say the byzantines were not that strong would only hurt the rashiduns strength. But I don't buy it as they were able to fight off parthians, germanic tribes, fight through revolts in Thrace, and held off attacks from empires like the rashiduns, seljuks, and the golden horde for centuries.
