- 1930 FADA Model 42, The exterior is in perfect condition, however it will require the usual chassis re build. New capacitors and wires are a must. ***UPDATE**** The chassis has been restored and is now playing like new! See new video
Brian! My long lost friend! I'm also looking forward to hearing it. It's on the back burner though, too many other big projects like my kids, wife, and I'm also restoring a 1950 Mustang Motorcycle for a fellow biker.
Absolutely beautiful. What a great find!
Wow! Stunning! The chassis is wonderful too!!
Very Nice Fada Model 42 Console Radio!!!! Beautiful cabinet!!!! I'm dying to hear how it will sound once you restore it!!!---Your Pal BRIAN B. KERFOOT
@fadatuberadioman
That's great and what a wonderful find. My Stromberg Carlson 501A and the earphone and box, came from St. Louis. The floor Speaker is from NJ. And the Radio Plug 60 is from Grand Junction Colorado. My last video is on the 501A which was their second radio. I have their first radio and the first speaker for it, but I need to work on them
@BJSTV Brian my friend!! Great to hear from you!! I'm dying to hear it too!! I bet it will sound amazing with that big speaker. Every wire must be replaced, the chassis was molested sometime in the past so I will have to bring it back to stock. The biggest challenge will be the capacitor replacement. It has a BIG multi-Capacitor and it's not labeled at all. Kind of confusing but I'm confident that I can figure it out. Hope your doing well my friend!
@AllAmericanFiveRadio Thank You! I had it shipped all the way from NJ to CA
@mukerjea Thank You for the comment and I love how you did the music notes on your comment! I will make a video of the restoration. Have a Great One!
You know,,, I have wondered about that key hole my self. I've been busy restoring vintage motorcycles for the past year so I haven't started on this Fada yet. My tuning is stuck as well, I guess we will find out soon hu!
looking forward to hearing it restored-----
I recently acquired a FADA 44, which shares the same chassis as your 42. The tuning mechanism is completely frozen. But I noticed, and I think I see the same feature on yours, a tiny hole, looks like a keyhole, below the tuning dial. I'm wondering if the tuning dial could actually be *LOCKED*? Do you know if that was a feature of this set? Do you have a key for yours?
Do you take in outside work ?
