  • This video is to demonstrate how well the Alto Stealth Wireless Pro UHF Transmission and True Diversity system works. If you have questions just message me here in the comment section also please like the video. Thanks!
This was inside the 2nd floor of the Maggiano's restaurant in DC. on December 31, 2021. The client had multiple rooms and we were hired to setup sound for 3 locations. The main ballroom and two cocktail areas which were in the hallway and one bar room. In the video you will see that I walked from my hidden location for the ceremony to the other two locations for cocktails. If you are curious, half of the main ballroom was used for ceremony then during cocktails it was transformed into the reception where I was relocated but it was easy as I plugged into the reception outlet and ran an extension into the hidden room for ceremony then all we had to do is carry the table into the ballroom leaving everything plugged in.
Learn one thing about wireless and always inform your clients, "Wireless" is never guaranteed.
I have extensive experience with the Alto Stealth Pro Wireless system since its release a few years ago. I use the systems with a fullwave antennas on mic stands, such as the Sennheiser A1031-U Passive Omnidirectional Antennas. Directional passive Fin antennas would be best.
I have tried many other audio transmission devices such as Sennheiser in-ear monitors systems and the Xvive U3 Wireless Microphone System 2.4GHz Wireless and they have failed me. There is nothing out there offering true diversity for reception like the Alto Stealth Pro for sending a wireless signal to a speakers.
Some rules one needs to learn about wireless transmission and reception for DJ/band use. Only passive antennas will work when transmitting a signal. Passive antennas will work for transmission and reception but not combined together using the same antenna system. The two types of signals have to be separated. Transmission signals also have to be ahead of a receiving signal. So always make sure your transmission antenna for the Alto Stealth Pro Wireless is further ahead of the receiving antenna for microphone towards the intended target(s).
All wires, adapters, and antennas have to be no more than 50ohm. Many confuse video BNC adapters and Coax wire at 75ohm. BNC wire can only go as far as 25' lengths for each passive antenna.
How to work the units: After setup, do not power on the transmitter yet. Power on each receiver first, make sure speaker is off or volume is muted. Press Frequency button, not auto scan. Use the + or - buttons to go up or down. Holding will scroll faster. As you are scrolling, watch the reception strength which is labeled RF on the left side of the LCD screen. Make sure to do all of this while holding the receiver at the same height as your transmission antenna from main location. Watch out for wifi repeaters or routers mounted on the wall or in the ceiling at or above speaker location.
When the RF is at its lowest signal at 3 bars or less signal, (zero is ideal) choose that frequency. Record that frequency. Do not turn on or unmute the speaker yet. Move on to the other receiver. If you want mono, use Left as any receiver can be either left or right. You can match up the same frequency on the second receiver BUT check to see if the frequency is free of interruption in the different location by watching the RF indicator. If it is low at 3 bars or less, you are good.
Sometimes one location will allow one frequency while another location may not allow that same frequency so it can be a back and forth game. Just have patience and allow enough time for setup. Once you have all your frequencies set on the receivers keep speakers off or muted. Go back to transmitter and set the frequencies you recorded on the two or more receivers. Once they are set, turn on a song and set the channel and zone/booth volume as desired. Go back to each location and turn on speaker then turn up gain to desired level. I always take 2 hours for setting up for ceremonies, cocktails and receptions and still have time left over for any trouble shooting issues that may occur. If you are curious, this is also without a DJ assistant too.
The auto scan in the receivers of the Alto Stealth Pro Wireless in my experience is not reliable so doing it manually is far better which I prefer anyways, but it would be easier if the auto scan worked properly. I will have to research the auto scan feature more to see why I do not have as much success with it as I do manually. This could be due to user error on my part.
Just remember, If you can't match up the frequencies then use two different frequencies just make sure that one is Left and one is Right. Another very important thing to remember is to never turn off your Alto transmitter without first turning off or muting your speakers or you will get loud static through the speakers. Same in reverse. I hope Alto Professionals addresses that one issue.
