    • @chrisj2991
      @chrisj2991 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Couldn't Mattel technically "acquire" these characters since they were produced illegally using their character designs and licensed molds? Top Toys didnt actually purchase their own molds, they were Mattel's originals. After Estrela of Brazil was done producing their MOTU line they sent the molds to Top Toys as per their agreement with Mattel- thats why when Mattel put out the anniversary line in the late 90s they had to recast some parts from vintage production figures to make new molds because the originals were "lost" in Argentina according to Top Toys, and any other secondary molds had been sent to Leo toys of India......
      Same thing happened with Hasbro and GI Joe- the beloved 1985 Snake Eyes has never been replicated because the mold is still in Brazil and couldn't be located. Thats why we have like a million different 84 Firefly repaints but zero 85 Snake Eyes. Same with version 1 Destro- his mold was lost in Argentina.

    Great video! Just to add something, when you say distributor, are you saying that they only repacked the toys? Top Toys actually made many lines of figures, with mold from Mattel and Kenner, but made in Argentina, as far as a know. That's where some color variants and other stuff came. For example some (I'm not sure is all) Kenner vintage SW figures has no peg holes because they used another type of mold/manufacturing process.

      Estrela in Brazil created close to 40+ unique GI Joe figures for their country. Some stand outs are the Tiger Force Airtight & Shipwreck, Cobra de Aco (Snake Eyes head chromed out on a black and yellow Flash body with that nice cobra logo on his chest!), Cobra Invasor (version 1 Snake Eyes with a silver cobra logo chest stamp- yes, Snake Eyes was a bad guy in Brazil!), and they even released some vehicle drivers MOC with unique artwork like Overlord and Destro version 2. Estrela also produced figures for the US market- Slaughters Marauders, Heavy Metal, the mail order version of Quick Kick, etc...
      While Plastirama of Argentina did not have as many unique releases, some that they did put out are standouts of the GI Joe line worldwide and the most sought after- just google the "Argen 7"- Cobra Mortal will blow your mind! Then theres also the Red repaint of Storm Shadow named 'Satan' and the black repaint named 'Ninja-Ku'!

    "Black Blood" Mosquitor is a myth. They were all red blood just the formula they used for the first run of them oxidizes turning the red to a black or even brownish color. An unintended variant. Theres a video by 'Madhunter' who interviews the creators of Top Toys and they discuss the variants and the Fuerza-T bootlegs and how that line basically ran them out of business. Now all that Top Toys does these days is translate board games into Spanish. Just make sure to turn the subtitles on, definitely a video worth watching! 😉
    There was going to be a second wave of Fuerza-T as well. You can find images of the prototypes by googling. Wish they happened, there was a really cool Skeletor who was red with green tinted clear limbs and gold armor!

    It seems like the whole purpose of origins is so that we can create these figures that was bootlegs and fan customs. We have almost everything we need to create these figures within Motu origins. No need for recasting and minimal painting required. The original origins He-Man head sculpt works great for Platino, the main hero of this line. And if you can custom cast pieces yourself. This will be easy. All of us who took advantage of the Moto origins clearance will have a project to work on.

Is it because it would somehow 'go back' on them shutting Fuerza-T down and/or mean Top Toys (or others) could get away with the 'use old tools for a self-owned IP' concept? Ok there are 2 Factions Scorpio ala Evil warrior a bunch of mutantants that eat people and T force from the remanents of a post apocaliptic Earth i presume.
    The heros are
    The T Force a from by a nordic cyborg warrior (Platino) , a Japaniece martial artist of many styles (Shidoshi), a Greek atlete (Titano) and a Usa misterius Cyborg (Tekkno).
    Also the Staff of Destructor is Alive and is the Chosen one of Evil eldrish gods... Neat xD they would fit rigth in on motu... Pantano (it can be transtaled to Swamp man or Just Swamp) Looks the coolest

      @@spectorcreative1872 Ok now for the Bad guys ... There are 2 factions of Monsters (They translate to underworld warriors)
      Escorpius faction
      Destructor/Destroller: Leader of the Group destroys every thing thats crosses his way. His fangs are strong as steel. Caravrius his living staff has the power of his dark gods. They can see in the dark.
      Pantano/Marsh or Marsh-Man:it lives in the swamps, sea and Quiqsand (He can swim in sand). He can eat ... ( I will not translate that). He made his weapons and armor using bones of sea creaturea. I can de in the dark even in the sea... (So yea he is like an evil and cool otter)
      Aracnos
      Carnivor: Leader of the faction, he is and inteligent and bestial at yhe same time his jetpack lets him fly in the sky and move in caves. He realy likes uncooked meat (may be he is demon royalty) he can see in the dark and is a silent hunter
      Felinor: Mutant Feline (may be he is an army builder). Dangerus and vampiric, it hunts its victims from far away just to get close and dring their blood. He can see in the dark
      All the villans eyes (and Tekno) glow in the dark

    Part of me understands why Mattel didn't allow this since it could in theory would take from retool combinations available to them. On the other hand, had they worked out some sort of licensing kickback deal, they could have ended up with a bit more money for no work, and maybe even a few new characters for the main line. Maybe just say that all of the Fuerza-T characters were from a different planet in the MOtUniverse. More characters, no work needed.

    • @spectorcreative1872
      @spectorcreative1872  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      While you are right in theory, I think the points that go against this are the fact that it sets a bad precedent AND its the whole "is the juice worth the squeeze". Will potential sales be worth all the work to make this work. ;-)

    It's unclear what really happened between Toptoys and Mattel. I saw a video with Toptoys employees who claimed that Mattel's lawyers couldn't do anything to them, because at that time they sold 200X and not vintage. Still others say that Mattel stopped production of the "Fuerza-T".

    Dude. lol . That faker is by Leo in India. NOT top toys. The Leo Faker is arguably the most sought variant that exists. Its probably at this point the most expensive complete. Top Toys released Faker too. But those are completely different. The first release Top Toys Faker had a soft head (marked taiwan!) and looks very similar to a standard Taiwan figure. The second releases were hard head (similar to Malaysia Faker) and the last releases also hard head but with bigger body, and more muscular, longer legs.

    But, if they sold them the tooling but not the rights to make motu figures, what else could they do with it? (Besides make their own figures? ) I guess that wasn’t Mattel’s (or whoever the seller was) problem...

    Enjoy your videos. But this one really annoyed me the way you were utilizing your editing. What's with the scrolling up and down in super close? Some characters we barely got a glimpse of. Half the reason why your audience watches these is because they like to see the toys. Let's get some proper shots or find a way to backup your pictures or keep them still or something. Got to give you a thumbs down on this one
