I got into collecting the Imaginext line when I found a Cyclops from a Blind bag that had the belt design from the vintage Masters of the Universe toys. I love these things!
As a Lego DC collector, I've always been hella jealous of Imaginext's character lineup. I remember going to Walgreens to get my medication and took a look in the toy section when I saw two DC blind bags. One being the Lego Batman Movie one (which had some great characters and figures, Eraser being one of my favorite minifigures to date) and the other being the Imaginext DC bag with Kingdom Come Superman on the front. I did some digging, and they have so many cool characters.
6:31: As this is a Mattel toyline I trust you that the designers definitely looked at old Mattel properties and were inspired! Liked this twist and player on the viewer idea and effect Scott. The ‘well it could be’ sort of attitude was brilliant. Hinting at the ideas possibly being inspired by former Mattel* (*Tyco also) toylines.
The green snake guy with purple armor was actually an almost exact copy of a Battle Beast. He’s just missing the rub square. Also 2 other things they did in the blind bags was a m.u.s.c.l.e 2 pack that had Kinikumam and Bull Man that were sized at imaginext size, but did not have articulation and instead were made out of muscle pink rubber. They also did a homage to the X-ray man from fisher price adventure people and gave him a dog. That guy was cool because he was done in clear green plastic.
4:00 Duuuuude I would’ve totally bought every figure in a Street Sharks Classics line! Especially if you included Extreme Dinosaurs into the line and reworked the whole “Dinovengers” era that Extreme Dinosaurs spawned from to better fit with extreme Dinosaurs continuity. That would’ve been JAWSOME!!!! I’ve collected Street Sharks since i was really little and still have mine from when i was a kid. In fact my mom also really likes street sharks toys and we’re both always on the lookout for them, and while in my early to mid teens I was unable to convince her to be particularly thrilled by MOTU Classics (I worked for her holiday decorating company for action figure money and only really ever got He Man and Skeletor at conventions) she would have been almost more excited to sign up for multiple subscriptions than I’d be if street sharks and extreme dinosaurs was involved. Hell with you at the helm we Probably would’ve finally gotten figures of Clammando, Chedra And Spitter. Maybe even Dr Bolton Or lizard Pirahnoid!
@@spectorcreative1872 Ha! Testing the waters. Funny. Also yeah i saw. Too bad the set they put out was so expensive and Disappeared so Quickly. I totally would’ve bought it right away if i had learned about it sooner
Also, the Wizard Tower/Castle playset with the Castle Grayskull dungeon grate sculpted on the battery cover also has Skeletor's hood and armor in yellow for the wizard to wear.
Imaginext is one of my absolute favorite lines. MotU will always have the top spot, but Imaginext is brilliant. The Batman Ooze Pit has clear Evil Horde Slime Pit 'inspirations' mashed up with some of the Harry Potter Slime Chamber, and there's a few other figures that seem 'MotU adjacent'. I love getting the blind bags, just to see if I can figure out what inspired them. I'm excited to see the actual MotU Imaginext line, though. Somehow I missed that news!
I've got one you missed. The Imaginext Zombie (he's actually in your video in the monsters pack). He comes with two accessories: a sack with one eye cut out and a weed-whacker. Now you have to wonder, why that hood? And why that weapon? Well -- Friday the 13th! Jason Voorhees wears the one-eyed hood in Part 2 and he uses a weed-whacker to kill in Part 7.
I'd thought for years Imaginext would be the perfect way to get MOTU back to retail. Its coming after the current push with MOTUO but am glad its finally happening.
I bought a few of the little red Imaginext Spydors when they went on clearance. I customize 3.75 inch action figures into MOTU figures so Imaginext has been a great source of easy to obtain vehicles to add to the custom fodder. Don't have to do too much customization to make them work. Love MOTU and Imaginext.
@@spectorcreative1872 Absolutely agree. I had hoped that Super 7 would have continued their 3.75 inch MOTU line. They were just getting into some of the awesome obscure characters.
I do not know this line, but the Skeletor-like figure you've shown looks to me like a mix of the original Thulsa Doom (guy with skull head), and the Thulsa Doom from the Conan movie (guy with the head of James Earl Jones).
It would be cool, but with Mattel taking back MOTU from Super 7 I doubt they will be licensing it out anytime soon. But you never know! Just my opinion.
Dino-Riders! Harness the Power of Dinosaurs. Tyco Industries was the company that created Dino-Riders and the toyline lasted from 1988-1990. It is very desirable today, and Mattel just bought it back. Just got Monoclonious with a Rulon Warrior (not the intended one though) last month. Tyco was acquired by Mattel in 1997 and closed in 1999. Great to see that this line was inspired by it. Shame that the toyline never took off.
Imaginext… they certainly didn’t imagine everything or it’s connections to other toylines! By the way you should do a Kenner take on this video! Hasbro and LucasFilm have inserted loads, Neca with their ALIENS line also then there’s ReAction essentially bringing back Kenner style figures.
Also Imaginext series 11 blind bags are pretty much all references too older toy lines there is X-Ray man, Snake from Battle Beasts and literally Muscle Men there are so much more you should defiantly do a part 2 of this.
I got a blind bag figure from this line and it was actually the building robot from the movie 🎥 Big with Tom Hanks which I recognized rite away plus I also have a cyclops fig that is truly a motu he man from the waist down 👍🏻Good stuff for the keen 👀
A few years ago, around the holidays, I spotted their Megazord playset, and it completely re-kindled my love for Power Rangers. I ended up buying it and the entire Rangers line; TWO of the RC Dragonzords. Imaginext is fantastic.
I bought 2 or 3 of the castles as well as that skull dungeon and the wizard tower from the 1.0 Imaginext series and I've had a Castle Grayskull in my shelf for several years
Doooode. I would of love to get modern articulated street sharks. Why have them not made them already? And about this imaginex t you are right they don't look similar they are almost the same
this was good video but please don't take this the wrong but but the figure that you had for squeeze that was a battle beast, but I do love your content
The figure you said was imaginex and looked like Squeeze is actually a Battle Beast figure from the 80s.
I think it was based on one rather than being one. But I may be wrong!!
@@spectorcreative1872 Definitely a Battle Beast.
Spector Creative I definitely saw some Imaginex Battle Beast like figures online.

Yeah, still one of my favorite lines. It was heavily supported by TRU which is another reason it is sad TRU is gone.
@@spectorcreative1872 I agree. I still see Imaginext toys out in warehouse stores, but it is always tied to a comic or movie property.

Yeah I always thought Imaginext could be marketed to adult collectors due to the character seletion

Very much so
The Mummy's that came with "King Hiss" looks a lot like Wrap Trap the Horde Mummy that wasn't released in the vintage line.
It does, but I think it may just be a coincidence. A Mummy is a very
generic thing to have in an Egypt themed set.
I love all the Fisher Price Adventure People turning up in Imaginext.
Crazy right! Once you see it you can't un see it.
Another awesome video sir- so thank you! Now completists/ collectors everywhere are going to want the line that has it all!
Great video! Thank you! It was fun seeing these homages. I'd seen a few before, but getting them all into one video was dang cool!
Glad you liked! Feel free to share this video with everyone you know! ;-)
