She got more score in the first round but also gassed out at the end of the same round. I believe torres could actually end her in the first round considering how easily she could turn the table on the ground, but she was so patient, fought efficiently until the right moment...

So "Philipino Martial Arts style", to throw the choke in from wherever one can secure it from, in a moment like that...(!!)... And Western Boxing is the main basis of using hands in Panantukan, and, at the very least, a key aspect of all Phillipines Martial Art since WW2, when native peoples exchanged knowledge with the soldiers, on the dominant Western system of using the hands, and combining it all in with their own local, and Chinese, martial arts influences... Not overly surprised at all to find phenomenal fighters coming out of the Phillipines, and into the Mixed Martial Arts world stage.

Western style boxing does produce really strong punchers. So a fighting system that brings that in should produce really good results.

She "fucked up" when she got her legs kicked out from under her in round one. I think she had taken a lot of damage by then and was slowed down. Round Two shouldn't have even happened.

When you've been finishing everyone in the 1st it can be a mental barrier learning to go into later rounds. Even if you've been training hard. Not making excuses for Rika. She'd be the first to tell you that she got flat beat. But just saying. She clearly came out for the 2nd looking gassed. And part of that can be mental. Not used to having to keep up the energy. Both mentally and physically.

Meaning, not many people in "the world" even knows this fight ever happened.
These two fighters had 5 fights between them thus making them virtually unknowns. COMPARED to other organizations... YES, not many people cared about this fight other than people in Manila. And since MMA is still a very unknown commodity in Thailand (I was just there a couple months ago for like the 20th time) I know for a fact that less than a handful over there watched it.
I didn't even have to mention UFC. But just YOU mentioning UFC makes me understand that even YOU know why not a lot of people watched this.
If this fight involved an underdog defeating a heavy favorite it would be slightly more understandable for the comment of "shocked the world". But in reality it "shocked" fans in Manila and that night in the Cotai arena.
