I have really missed out on the huge world of DnD. I have enjoyed BG3 and I still haven't gotten to the end with over 300 hrs played. Just so much to learn and read and do. Great content.
Tara is the voice of every Gale fan who recognizes Mystra's demands for the petty/self serving/lazy tripe it actually is. Mystra could easily handle the Absolute on her own - but she either thinks the task is beneath her or fears how Ao would react to her interfering in 'mortal affairs' (i.e. - it all comes down to her own self preservation; the fact she shames Gale for thinking of his own self preservation instead of ending his life to keep her/the weave safe makes her especially vile).

Better to send a disposable mortal to do the job for her (truth be told, this applies to all the Gods in the game - all the Gods truly are self serving trash).
I love her so much. Why didnt larian just let us keep her in camp even if shes not playable just let us have her??? She is a whole new experience. She adds a lot of depth and warmth to gales story. I said it as a joke before, but I think it's because Tara is genuinely too wise- she'd just steal the leadership position from the player character. But also if you have Tara during Gale's origin playthrough and try to get any other companion to talk to her, she won't respond or engage with them. Likely because she only trusts Gale and not the other weirdos in this group he's now forced to stay with. So I think having her in a regular Tav/Durge playthrough wouldn't lead to new conversations or content with her :(
Well technically if you read up on githyanki lore, losing Orpheus (by way of him turning into an illithid, at least) is probably the best option. Orpheus isn't as bad as Vlaakith when it comes to the welfare of the Githyanki themselves, but Orpheus isn't much better when it comes to the welfare of... everyone else. Having Orpheus turn illithid and Laezel take up his mantle in leading the revolution against Vlaakith is the best for the world, as Laezel is much more likely to foster cooperation with the other peoples of Toril rather than subjugate them.
