edit: For several months now I've been monitoring the replies to this post. Hearing that there are so many people that can relate to my story and are going through the same thing is very reassuring, and I smile every time I see a new reply. In case anyone was curious, here's an update:
I'm thirteen now, and I'll be fourteen soon. I've been diagnosed with depression and I see a therapist regularly. I have gotten "worse" since this original post, but I'm happy to say that, in a lot of other ways, I've gotten better. I have great friends, a loving family, and as of last month, a parakeet!! (whom I love very much).
I want anyone reading this to know that IT DOES GET BETTER. I haven't gotten there completely yet, but every day I try my best to improve. Even if it seems like it'll be this way forever, it won't, I promise. And to anyone struggling with self-love specifically: I'll bet you are beautiful, inside and out. That pimple on your nose isn't actually that big. Your hair looked cute today, even though you thought it was messy. Maybe you weren't as kind as you could've been today, but that's okay. You always have the chance to start over tomorrow, so take it. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that.

I cried so much... Today I was with my mom in the car and I noticed I have a bit of baby phat under my chin. I looked at my mom and said " mom I have a double chin. What do I do?" And my mom said " you're seeing things. You're fucking beautiful baby and I love you". I started crying because I'm a bit on the heavier side for my age, 13 and 102 pounds, and then this song came on. It was perfect because it made me feel better. Tonight, 5 minutes ago I told myself that I was beautiful no matter what and I put this song on. Please, know that you're beautiful no matter what

I'm turning 13 this weekend and I weigh 110! do not say you're fat... most of my weight may come from my height because I'm 5.9 and it comes very naturally, and I eat LIKE A HORSE! hey you're only overweight if your over 150 lbs AND 13 ok??? do not starve yourself, God gave you a body to take care of so that means take care of it! You know a good diet you can start, its very useful, my mom was 178 lb like a couple months ago and now she's 150 lb because of this diet... no rice, potatoes or any starches! If you try this you will see a big difference if you really want to change how you look. But DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF! I've learned how to take bullying and insults like their nothing because I know I look gorgeous in the eyes of my creator and my Savior The Lord Jesus Christ. Besides, I have A LOT of things I can be terribly bullied for, like I like My Little Pony, I still sleep with my mom and a blanket, I can't stand being alone AND I AM CHRIST FOLLOWER!

What we didn’t notice is she didn’t recover. She wasn’t happy. It was fake. She had battled for to long. The battle had to end. And I still love you alannah. You were brave 😭

I am 10 and when I was younger, i wanted yo make a girl I didn't like and everyone else liked like me, so I faked about liking cats, now I like cats because I faked it for so long
I regret doing that every day.
I also have friends who are so skinny, their hair is like silk, they wear 'cool' outfits. Everyone always says they are so cool and compliments them. I feel too big, then I feel to skinny, mom says my hair is terrible then I want to scresm, my hair is ugly.
I also always doubt I'm smart. I take tests and pass but always am last or first to finish, "how us everyone else done and I'm not?, I just speed through I messed up didn't I" I always freak out.
My friends cry or say they arnt popular and are very quickly, everyone is so sorry, there life must suck, I cry, I'm just being ridiculous.
Listening to this song and singing makes me happy and feel good at something.

I’m fat and I want to lose weight. When I say that to others, they think I’m trying to lose weight just to get more attention. But I told them that I’m not doing that for attention. I’m doing that so that I can feel better for myself and have more confidence (and actually wear clothes that are my style since I couldn’t cause of my body). I don’t know why but I just felt like I needed to say this. The song was so good ☺️

I hate when people judge for no reason. This is a good song for Bullying. I have gone through bullying my whole life, and its still hard to get over it. It is very damaging, but I always give and give. I get up everyday faking my anxiety and depression all thanks to the bullying, and family issues I have.. please keep my family in prayers.. going strong still, but we still got issues.

every time someone says something mean to me, I just say, "sorry, I have this hearing problem, I can't hear when people say mean stuff about me... " then laugh and walk away. it shows them that you don't care and that you never will care, so they eventually stop.

I was bullied for years and years, and I learned that if you laugh it off and walk away, they'll stop. the reason that bullies bully is because they feel bad about themselves, so they bring others down to make them stronger. if you show them that they can't bring you down, they stop.

I'm sorry what I said was not particularly good.
I do have a hard time accepting myself and I want to be average to myself but then a family member of mine will go ahead and say something like, "how I wish I was slim like you" or "that I have a small/slim figure" and that I am "skinny" and now I will have times where I will barely eat but other times I will want to eat all day. This is all dependent on my good/bad days.
It’s amazing how this one song can make you break down in tears. People here are commenting on how this song makes them feel less ugly or pretty or whatever but for me I was in a very bad toxic relationship with 2 people back to back. And I tried so hard to be everything they wanted and made myself exhausted and depressed and I didn’t like myself. I changed who I was for them. And I’ve never listened to a song that really hit that feeling until now

I suffer from mild depression, for my bad and awkward looks, body maturity, and my size. Weighing at 124 Lbs and thick thighs for a 13 year old I felt like that was way way too over weight so I stopped eating for about two weeks only nibbling on very little which resulted in worrying my mom and sisters. I always feel like I'm pushing everyone away and making them worry. My sisters helped me realise I'm only human and no everyone is gonna be perfect, so please don't judge yourself and love yourself for who you are only human, and human is not perfect. You all are beautiful!! 👌

My great grandpa passed away and he was and is the only person on Earth who will ever really understand me. He is one of the most important people to me and I will never forget him.. He always told me to be myself and never change for anyone except for me and that I was beautiful and I would always be loved. Its really hard to lose someone but you need to remember to be yourself and the people who don't like you are jealous of you. Never change for anybody except yourself. Have a good life and always look on the bright side if things.

Just so people know, I lost my mom in a snorkeling accident on April 4, 2015, and her number one favorite song is Try. She told me that makeup doesn't make you beautiful, it's what's inside that makes you beautiful. To ALL the girls feeling insecure, it's ok to not be gorgeous, or skinny. We don't have to be models to be beautiful, we just have to have beauty inside us, and that's what matters. I feel insecure EVERYDAY because I'm not good enough to have a guy like me for me and I understand that guys like skinny girls which I'm not and they like girls with no acne on their faces which I do and I just don't feel good about myself!! Every girl needs to have a good grip on being beautiful WITHOUT any MAKEUP!!!

This world right now is full of people who judge others so very badly and it pushes them to a certain point that they have to change themselves in order to be liked. Very well put! I went to a high school game last night, after years of my graduation. It was one thing being a high school student and watching the game, but seeing all those girls trying desperately please other girls or young men by making fun of others. I was shocked and hurt, wondering if I was ever that way. But I never was in the crowd and now that I see them from a distance, I am so glad I never was in the main 'Group' because I am sure that I would regret all that I said or do. Once I was heading home, I heard this song and thought wow. I wish the girls there had heard these words. They would be better off being who they are, without the pound of make up they put on themselves to make themselves look prettier. High school is such a hard time in anyone's lives, and I am glad I am done with that section of my life.

I remember listening to this song constantly while suffering with episodes of severe depression and anxiety at the age of 10. Dealing with an ongoing battle with suicide attempts, psych wards and more, I felt this song as a comfort that understood feelings I couldn’t express.
I decided to make a change for myself at the age of 14, since having to fight with misery and despair for 7 years. I hadn’t listened to this song since, and hearing it again reminds me of how much I’ve come through since. I’m almost 17 now. And being without hurting myself, whether it be physically or mentally I name myself being “healed.” It took patience, motivation and a lot of bravery to be able to embrace self love and total acceptance of myself.
It’s certainly difficult and almost impossible to change in a way that makes you feel the slightest of real joy. But knowing how much I would’ve missed, I don’t regret using all of my energy to fight the urge of falling back into that toxic mindset. In the midst of fighting every second, of every day. I believe it was worth it, I’ve never conquered a feeling of happiness and glory like I feel now.
It’s a message from me, and something that I’ve achieved in my life. I won’t turn my head back on the past anymore, but sometimes I find it good for myself every now and then to let a cry out. A cry of happiness that I’ve made it this far. And I know so many more can and will achieve this amazing feeling.
