Come experience the lively world of the Disney/Pixar film Monsters, Inc. in the new Tokyo Disneyland attraction, Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek!
The attraction is set in Monsters, Inc., the company where the humorous and eccentric monsters work. Here, Mike, Sulley, and the other monsters have come up with a plan to entertain the human girl Boo with a game of flashlight tag.
Everyone is invited, so come join in the fun! Youll use flashlights from aboard a Security Tram to spot the monsters hiding in lockers, under helmets, and other unlikely places. And watch out for Randall, who is scheming to disrupt this happy game!

this and pooh’s hunny hunt are probably the two best rides in tokyo disneyland

Disney is amazing at making anamitronics. Their movements are actually pretty good, considering they are robots.

Correct. The Oriental Land Company (OLC), owns both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. The names and characters are leased from the Disney Company, which also owns Disneyland, Walt Disney World and the Disneyland Paris Resorts.
Until the expansion announcement for Hong Kong Disneyland, the Disney Company held a minority stake in that park. Disney was given a majority stake in exchange for paying to full amount for this expansion.

This isn't based on the movie plot. It's what is supposed to happen right after the first movie: Sulley invites Boo to come back to Monstropolis and play along with the flashlights.

I cant tell if the rider here was doing a good job or a bad job but im leaning towards the latter...
Speaking of not knowing what anyone is talking about. I like both rides and I've never even been to any of the parks. I've watched all the walkthroughs on TH-cam. You guys are very lucky when don't have anything close to this in Australia.

Yeah I felt bad to :( the funny thing is, I used to hate him but now I like him a lot and I don't think he deserve what he got in the end. Sure in this ride he was trying to catch Boo with a butterfly net but think about it...Boo, as cute as she is, is the bane of his existence. Everything she does just puts him in a world of hurt. When I watched this ride for the first time, I was thoroughly disgusted with what I was seeing. I wish they could've put in a scene where everything ends well for everyone, even for him. Every villain deserves a happy ending.

Trust me, this attraction is amazing. I just got done riding it a few days ago and this video doesn't really do it justice. The amount of attention of detail and the effects is insane. It was just overall a lot of fun too! Toy Story doesn't even begin to compare to this attraction.

@RoxasClaimsRiku I've already rode this ride, and nothing is bad about the ride. It's really fun playing flashlight tag in the ride! Plus, there is even no height requirement for the ride.

It doesn't work as well with 2D animation/video, only with 3D images like Universal's Spider-Man and Transformers rides.

does anyone know how the door illusion around 5:55 works?
My guess is that the door is closer to the back wall then we think, and that there are mirrors on the sides to give the illusion of space behind it.

@javu10 Not sure either! I do know that the ride has already gone though one rehab since I filmed this to make it easier to have the monsters pop out when the flashlight hits the right spot. I rode this several times, and knew where certain ones were, but could not always get them to come out. I need to get back there and try it again!

The "door" is actually a video screen, in which the video was distorted in the direction of the vehicle. Universal created it as a way to make 3D film look good from a moving perspective.
I like this version of the ride more than the one at DCA.
Holy crap this one is so much better than the American ride. Why would the country where the movie was produced have the cruddier ride?

Despite the fact that it doesn't have a scoring system, this reminds me alot of Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters/Toy Story Midway Mania in California! I want to go to TDL.
THIS IS SO COOL OH MY HECK! Maybe this would fit well in Pixar Place at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Maybe after Monsters Inc. 2, they'll make a ride like this in Pixar Place. Well, hopefully at least. XD

Tokyo has another company to pay for everything. Disneyland pays for all the other parks except this one.

@RoxasClaimsRiku I have to admit that this was maybe the hardest attraction to shoot. It is so immersive, that a camera is only giving you a very small window to see everything around you, which will never be able to do it justice. A good example would be to compare filming this to filming Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. I would love for this to come over to the US, if for nothing else, but let people see how little they see in the video!

The absolute SHITTEST ride I have ever been on in my life ... marvellous that we had to line up for 210 minutes as well. Ridiculous. An insult to Sully and the guys!
