Ah, memes. The thumbnail is somewhat misleading.
Pol Pot never specifically ordered a directive to "kill those wearing glasses". The wearing of glasses was/is a Khmer metaphor for being a bookworm and an intellectual. I remember a Cambodian guy refer to his brother as "a glasses wearer" by which he meant that he was a studious fellow. Consequently, the Khmer Rouge rank-and-file murdered those with glasses because they literally equated it to intellectualism.
btw, the music sounds like something the old folk of Hong Kong listen to while practicing tai chi.

The khmer Rouge's ideal revolutionary was that of the peasant farmer who had never been "corrupted by imperialism and capitalism".
The former urbanites were, conversely, seen as being the antithesis of a "pure peasant" because they'd been influenced by a bourgeois mindset.
The Khmer Rouge leadership did issue a directive to kill or "smash" all those suspected of counterrevolutionary activities. This directive was issued to zone and district committees. Subsequently, the Khmer Rouge cadre targeted anyone whom they considered to be enemies, such as those with soft hands and, yes, those who wore glasses because it was the easiest way to identify one category of class enemy, ie. the intellectuals.
If you want a source I would recommend Philip Short, who states that the idea of glasses wearing being equated to intellectualism was not unique to the Khmer Rouge per se, but had always been a part of Cambodian cultural thinking.
