For those who don't watch the Magic, just so you know, they are just as hyped up to win against Wizards as they are the Celtics. Our players are like that, at all times during the game and they celebrate every win, no matter who it is.
The crazy 4 out our 5 starters on Magic is bench players. Imagine when the starters come back and bench has this experience and coming off the bench matched up against other teams bench players
I’m not a hater the Orlando Magic are a good team and don’t be surprised if they make it to the championship especially when they’re two stars get back .. as a New York Knicks fan. I want nothing to do with the magic in the playoff. Those guys are tough and they do not quit.
Magic were just relentless. And these have been the type of games we’ve lost. Poor shooting from deep, missed free throws, turnovers + a physical team = trouble. Folks have to remember (John talked about this earlier this season) Celts are defending champs so this is like G7 of the Finals for every team we play. They’re going to bring their best every night. Worried? Nope. More so frustrated that two guys I’ve never heard of did us in. Thanks John-cool sweater! ☘️🔒🎄
This loss was on Mazzula, sometimes his player time management can be atrocious. Why take out Brown in the 3rd quarter with 6 minutes left and then Bring him back around 10 minutes in the 4th, he should have started him in the 4th quarter to end the bleeding. This team is good, but without Brown or Tatum out there, most of the players cannot create their own shot and are a lot easier to defend. In my opinion, you should never have Hauser or Pritchard or Kornet playing together at the same time, because you have three slow players that play average defense....
I think there’s 3 key things from today and the past couple weeks that’s pretty noticeable: 1. Mazzulla is experimenting; Yes, we have not shot well in the past three games, but he’s trying to see what does and does not work now that every team knows what we want to do every game, which is shooting 40+ threes. We’re also testing zone, which is interesting. 2. If we let the officiating bother us/ get angry about things outside of them playing (like what Gogo and KP got into) regular basketball we need to respond better. We’ve bounced back from it before, but we can’t let it bother us. It’s very easy to say the refs are at fault when you lose, so we need to match teams or exceed their physicality. 3. We need to find our rhythm again. This is definitely the most important part. Besides Tatum, Hauser, White, Horford, and Pritchard, none of our other guys are doing well. FROM 3: KP: 31.1% JB: 31.6% Jrue: 32.8% You could say I’m nitpicking, but Horford, Hauser, White, Jrue, Jaylen, and Kristaps 3 point percentages have all gone down. Jrue went down 11% from last year. JB has gone slightly down. KP has played 10-15 or so games and he’s struggling. We need to find it right now, because all of the guys I’ve named (outside of JT) are down heavily the past 3 weeks.
Totally agree. If he's not going to us any physical type guys off the bench, why keep them(especially Tillman, whose been a major disappointment)? BTW...The C's shot 6 more free throws than The Magic(and they were 21-21). White,Holiday and Brown all with 5 turnovers...yikes. Porzingis was 2-10, but 13-14 at the free throw line(he needs to be better). Hauser was worthless(perhaps the back injury is affecting him), and Pritchard was ineffective. I agree too, that since they are the champs, other teams have extra incentive to beat them. All in all, this is why I would like to see Stevens's make some moves. IMHO, right now, they're not going to repeat as champs with the current roster. I also disagree with John about being him being dismissive of 'Ah it's just a regular season loss'(lately there has been too many of those). Yes it is, but bad habits develop from not playing 48 minutes as The C's just did. A great first half is meaningless, if you lose the game!
Was the cup half empty or half full? Did The Celtics lose the game or did The Magic win with pure Heart and Muscle. 2 years now of losing to The Magic and so respect. Starting to look like 🤡s!
OK John! First I'm no maven and I do agree that, in a vacuum, the shot Al took was correct. It was open, if not "wide open" and that three by Da Silva was basically the only outcome, other than an offensive rebound, that C's don't have the ball in a one-possession game. That said, in this case, against an undermanned, inexperienced team that had come from behind and could now blow it, Boston's taking the lead MIGHT have been a killer blow.
Mazzulla keeps pressuring JB to score but I think JB would have been better served trying to get the others going. I think JB and Kornet had the right energy. Everyone else clearly wanted the night off.
I think it is the opposite, Jaylen in the first half was trying to get everyone involved, but players were just not making their shots, he should of had at least 12 assist in this game...He gave Kornet 3 easy ally oops and Kornet missed them all in the first quarter.....besides Brown, everyone played terrible...yet the game was still close.
Kornet had to take Tatum's role on the finishes and couldn't do it, this game could have been a good one to see athleticism cutting to the basket namely Jordan Walsh. Let's see if he can do it, Magic weren't afraid to play rookies. He can finish and give some real juice to the offense, come on Coach. Feliz Navidad!
They went 2 for 1 which is the some dumb crap under almost all circumstances because it leads to forced shots, and 3 point shots are lower percentage than 2 point shots. Appreciate the explanation John, but you're just wrong. The best play is to just look for the highest percentage shot regardless of the clock then play defense. They got beat by a G league team because they didn't care enough to play hard the whole game. Does it matter? Maybe, maybe not. Merry Christmas John.
We shouldn't have loss but to me that shows Big Duece is our mvp.. kornet butter fingers.. Me personally, I never wanna see Sam play 15+ min with no shots. 😢😅
Notice how I follow instructions and don't put two thoughts in the same comment? Nobody has mentioned the free throw shooting. C's were 22-27 and I'm not gonna say make them all you win! They were fine at over 80% and it's not like they missed the last 5. BUT! Magic were 21-21! They are good normally but not 100% so that was also a factor. I don't know the stats for the individuals who shot them last night.
Zingis just miss a ton of shots. Then 3 main ball handlers had 5 turnovers. It want just own the ball handlers, the others not running to the open spots. Why u think Hauser didn't get a shot. Not moving!!!
Isn't something to overreact to. Orlando is literally playing every game like it's the playoffs. Gotta hold it down until their stars return. Celtics players and fans all know they're going to be in the playoffs. With Orlando's injuries, they're not so fortunate., they have to scrap hard and lock in for their wins now. Boston wins this with Tatum, and he's only out because of a flu or sickness w/e.
No not like the playoffs lol this is our game style. Magic play every game with intensity and defense. Best 4th quarter team in the league. No matter who is on the floor we play hard. That props to our coach.
JB was getting hammer, and it was marginal contact( what ever that mean). Its when the calls or noncalls. John the Celtics been getting beat up since the they allow the Warriors to beat them up. This is the model teams are using. So Joe its up to make adjustment. Here's a ideal put your young studs Walsh,JD even Tillman out there. Please take the handcuff off Walsh, u can see he worry about not making mistakes than actually playing the game. Thats u in his head about technical part of the game. This guy is a freak that u wasting.
Here’s the thing it is loaded at the power forward position Walsh has potential his defense is there, but he still needs practice. Not going to throw him out there until they feel he’s ready so chill out.
C’s have nothing to prove and I don’t expect them to play like they are in the playoffs every game..I have to admit though it can be hard to watch because we know their potential.
This has been the recipe to beat the Celtics for years. Eric Spoelstea laid out the blueprint years ago. Just foul them all game long. The refs let a lot go in this, but even in a game where they’re being a bit tighter will work. NBA refs are not going to call 9 fouls a quarter on a team. They simply won’t. They are there to oversee a product, and no one wants to watch more than 33% of a team’s defensive possessions result in a foul call(or to see half the team foul out.) Fouling, and extreme physicality in general, messes with the Celtics. They play movement basketball, taking a group of many highly skilled players and using movement to multiply their ability. If you just foul constantly, it gums that up and can stagnate the team. It also tends to frustrate them. Once you do that, all you need is a little luck, like the Magic’s 4th quarter 3 point shooting, and you can steal the win.
If the recipe was out for years how did they go 16-3 in the playoffs last year to win a title? This is a just poor thought processing and a lack of supporting evidence.
@@bk0333 it’s how they had one of their three losses last year. Do you think a recipe for beating them means you just win automatically? Just like in this game, a lot needs to go right for the opposing team to beat the Celtics, no matter their plan.
This Orlando team with both their stars is gonna be scary
Incredible effort by the Magic. Have a great holiday everyone!

Now, another loss at home against Philly. 1 win in their last 4. And 7 and 5 in the last 12. Time to worry? I'm a little concerned.

This game against the sixers was much worse 😂

Hauser kornet and Pritchard usually whoop ass when out there together my guy. Why so bitter
Nobody’s reading your essay
I think the missing JT n this loss just shows how much his playmaking really do affect how the Cs play
facts he doesn't get the credit he deserves
Nope when we lost last night, you didn’t hear. Nobody say all this team does well without JT. No, they won’t say that because they are cowards.
I think Orlando being heavily injured shows how much Boston lacks hunger. They showed up too comfortable. Boston got a reality check
Happy Holidays Celtics Fam 🫶🏼☘️

They are like what 6-4 in the last 10?
I won't overreact to the December game before Xmas, so we will bounce back. The real game starts in the spring.
That was an absolute melt down. Oh well kick the crap out of the 76’s Christmas Day!!!!
22-6 last year. 22-7 this year. We're fine.
Thank you for putting it in perspective.
Yes but they’re 6-4 in the L10
We are fine....but not as dominant. Am a little worried about the tatumless games....
