My favourite trick! Probably because for a good two weeks I totally thought they were just the same thing as the watermill and when I did realize it was this really neat moment of ‘hey I didn’t need to be taught this trick, I found it on my own’

Ahh I love doing opposite reels! I figured them out in the wild at a festival and can just get so dancy with them! Also thanks for this series!

This is great man. I’ve found myself going back and working on fundamentals to try to figure out new things and this helps a lot to keep me in the mindset. I’ve spun more in the past two weeks than I have in the last two months 👌🏻👌🏻

It's been helping me carve out my own ideas of what the fundamentals are all over again. I'm glad that it's be rewarding to follow along--let me know if you have any suggestions for things you think I ought to cover in this series!

I feel so much more ontop of all sorts of reels now thanks to this weeks series!! I’ve been trying to build up to a 4x4 fountain for ages and it feels like mastering these components is going to help tremendously! Thanks Drex!!

That's great to hear! I don't know yet whether I'm going to get to the 4x4 in this series (it depends on how long the quarantine lasts) but it was an integral part of a combo challenge I issued on Instagram a couple months back called the Progression Challenge. Check that out at instagram.com/drexfactor and see if it helps!

My journey is so much more enriched having you as an informal leader in my flow art and spinning experience. Thanks, indefinitely!

Been watching your tutorial vids 🤙🏻 I got my poi a few days ago after my friends finally convinced me to get them cuz I have somewhat of a quick hand at learning (not perfecting) especially with how you teach. I thought it was funny because I could do this before doing the split timing reels 😅 idk why my hands had an easier time adjusting on opposites at least for this trick. But your vids are amazing and your teaching methods are really good too: i was a bit rebellious to how you would suggest starting off then I would do as you instructed and I was like 😑 like a magician I swear

Can you go into more detail on "just switch around"? It seems like a lot happens in that switch -- as a beginner, I'm most interested in the specific mechanics of what's happening in those in-between moments. Whenever I try to "just do it", I spend a lot more time messing it up and not knowing up than gaining understanding

If the top opposite reels at the head are called the Mexican wave then what's the move called at the hips?

I keep practicing opposite. But my left hand can't. I will keep trying and trying. Anyways, Thanks for this. I've learned so much

Does anyone have any ideas why one of my poi wants to go into wall plane when I switch over? Still going opposites, but I've learned that it's probably something I'm doing wrong if it doesn't make sense where they're going.
For the record, I'm so much further with poi spinning after having them for years, because of this series. I could never learn how to do anything because I didn't even know what I needed to know about.
