Robin has been quite open-source in the whole process of this album. He's revealed a lot of details on his social media, taken part in a huge number of discussions amongst fans, and now - of course - he has made the whole album available on TH-cam. I love how very rooted in the music and literary traditions Robin is, while at the same time being completely in touch with the digital pulse and the new music industry. Fleet Foxes
Smart move. Fleet foxes understand the new reality of the music industry. I will buy for sure now that you have done this. THE THANK YOU ECONOMY at work.
Their best album. I love their most recent work but this record transcends everything and you can tell Robin put his heart and soul into the record especially during the hiatus. Beautifully crafted songs that took time and effort to execute.
Listen to The Westerlies. They are accompanying on horns on this one. They play chamber music and their albums can be lively and atmospheric. I found this song through them haha
I know this is old by "Transcendental Youth" by The Mountain Goats has a couple songs with very similar horns, and overall they have a somewhat similar sound to Fleet Foxes (But at the same time, very different... )
most of the time i have no idea what fleet foxes song is stuck in my head. I enjoy how they're so unconventionally written and composed. it's a beautiful thing

Great ending to an amazing album. Thank you all for this powerful and beautiful album. Looking forward to seeing you again in Toronto! Keep it up, for all of us.
I'm pretty sure Robins new kink is to whisper so quietly into the microphone so that it sounds like he's standing right by you and scares the shit outta you if you're wearing headphones.
Pure Stardust. Loved the first two albums dearly, this one has hit even harder. Crack Up seems so relevant to both this particular time and my own point in life.Thank you Fleet Foxes for sharing your gifts again. BTW, I heard you leaving at the end, dont be gone so long this time!
Check out the Crack Up album live performance on KEXP. Utterly stunning performance. Also a very insightful interview with Cheryl Waters. The guys are in a great headspace. What a band!
It is great to have the whole album on TH-cam. Now that I have heard the music and loved it, I just ordered the cd and will be hearing it soon at home.
My kids have parents who listen to this music and take them to the gigs....... I'm sure your parents are doing alternatively wonderful things for you however :)
James Nordlund This is the album of the year (and potentially the decade) without a doubt, but there have been quite a few great albums this year :) Milo - who told you to think?!?!? Father John Misty - Pure Comedy Tyler, the Creator - Flower Boy The War on Drugs - A Deeper Understanding to name a few :)
Sturgeon's Law. 90% of everything is shit and always has been, you just hear the "best of" past decades so you/they think it was better then. It was not.
I wonder if the ending is a reference to In the aeroplane over the sea by neutral milk hotel, ends the same with the music cut and the sound of someone walking away
I tend to listen to this, I get the purpose of the song but I have this feeling of wanting to leave for a while, I don’t know to where but I know I’ve stayed in place for too long. “If I don’t resist, will I understand?” pushed me to think of this crazy idea. It may be the worst it may be the best but it’s my only time where I can ever make such a decision…

yeah, i don't think the vocals on this album were recorded/mixed very well. not only on this track, but all over the album Robin's vocals clip from time to time.
@@william_ytp This isnt a problem with mixing, I think it was an error with recording. As you point out one of Robin's mics seems to be clipping or distorting throughout the album. However, I would argue the album is excellently mixed, especially considering the recording faults
I wish Fleet Foxes did a collab with Florence Welch for this song. it gives me such a strong How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful feel to it and I think the two together would make a seriously amazing sound.
As a newbie Indie folk music fan, I have to admit Fleet Foxes is the best musical journey I have ever taken......much love from Kenya
Richard Were ever listen to the tallest man on earth?
no, i haven't but definitely will
Try midlake if you Haven't.
Hello from Arizona! Glad you love Fleet Foxes, they're a treasure. Have a good day!!!!

Fleet Foxes
All that i lived till today, was for this
I'm crying.
WELCOME BACK FLEET FOXES
Worminioz, The Sad Worm where does he say that
The melody that runs from 4:21 to about 4:38 feels like the sun breaking through the clouds. This is quickly becoming one of my favourite FF songs.
I’ve been listening to y’alls music since I was 12 and it always brings me to this special state of mind, like the world is so simple and peaceful.
Smart move. Fleet foxes understand the new reality of the music industry. I will buy for sure now that you have done this. THE THANK YOU ECONOMY at work.
They also have high quality flac files available, they def know what they are doing and its like $12.
When they say "who shaved your teeth" I think they are refering to someone's fangs or fight being removed.
I'm totally buying this on vinyl!!
Their best album. I love their most recent work but this record transcends everything and you can tell Robin put his heart and soul into the record especially during the hiatus. Beautifully crafted songs that took time and effort to execute.
100%
Once those gorgeous horns came on at 3:43, my tears came. Such a beautiful, powerful way to close the album.
You will love the works of German composer F.S.Blumm then, look for his album "Ankern".
Listen to The Westerlies. They are accompanying on horns on this one. They play chamber music and their albums can be lively and atmospheric. I found this song through them haha
I know this is old by "Transcendental Youth" by The Mountain Goats has a couple songs with very similar horns, and overall they have a somewhat similar sound to Fleet Foxes (But at the same time, very different... )
Ditto. Seriously, gets me every time. This song is ethereal and spiritual to me.

Mike Pietrobon I'm seeing them in Detroit! I've waited 9 years too long
I listen to this song when I'm having an anxiety attack. It just seems to perfectly sum up the feeling for me and calms me down.
the irony

Robin into ASMR confirmed
Sure would beat other so called ASMR people. Music is the one thing that gives me "tingles". Plus I would doubt these guys would be stuck up.
Now it feels like the good old days.
With these legends returning I am truly happy
Just got laid off, but this album gives me hope
Never give up hope! Money, jobs, friends... they come and go, but the song remains!
Merritt Singleton "...but the song remained"
I just assumed it kept remaining.
Oh no no I was just quoting Third of May :)
Your worth more than a job , hope you keep well
this band brings you to another world. such a different feeling

They are in tune with emotion and feeling
Album of the year
still buying the vinyl and going to the show in Maryland come july, but thank you none the less. amazing group of human beings!
They just keep getting better and better
I'm sitting here listening to this album for the second time ever, and I feel like I grew up with these songs.
love those vocals and harmonizing.
Naw, it HAS to be this. This was the song Hunter got that lap dance to. Has his favorite word in the title.

its amazing. its amazing. i cried all over it. It takes you to another place.

Oh my goodness, they have done it again....

Álbum poderoso, música poderosa! A essência dos ensaios de FS Fitzgerald musicalizada.
best album of all time
Just stumbled on this group. Wow....!
My parents think that music sucks now a days. In reality, good music is now just much harder to find.
its actually not too hard if you try!
My kids have parents who listen to this music and take them to the gigs....... I'm sure your parents are doing alternatively wonderful things for you however :)
I haven't found anything new close to this album all year. Maybe I'm biased but this blows everything out of the water.

Que musicão ❤
Matheus Alves da Cunha Não acredito, cada vez vejo mais brasileiros gostando da banda. Talvez nossa geração tenha um futuro
The second half of this song is absolutely gorgeous
WHEN THE WORLD
I gotta see you guys in Santa fe nm.
I was at that show too! That show was the best I've ever been to. The early autumn chill really put the icing on that wonderful cake
gonna throw this out here, I preordered but I'm still gonna give all these a listen too. I have my album and its amazing
im so gonna buy this!

Thanks for this music :)
Does anyone else hear popping or crackling noises at about 5:20 - 5:30? was this by design?
This album has a flow similar to Dark Side Of the Moon. Different style, but that flow y'all. It's all about the flow.

this is the best song of 2017
What's with the distorted vocals at 5:23?
yeah, i don't think the vocals on this album were recorded/mixed very well. not only on this track, but all over the album Robin's vocals clip from time to time.
Glad I'm not the only one hearing this. I was really confused..
Glad that this is confirmed. It's a shame when bad mixing happens. I wonder if they left it as such to coincide with the theme of cracking up?
I was wondering the same thing. It's awful and unfortunately I'm starting to hear that clipping noise on a lot of albums these days...

Perfect
What a mind blowing song. I believe it needed a music video so i made one by editing a film.
Rolling Stone under valued this album.

3,5/5 is an alright score
I wonder how it sounds live.

Wow, gorgeous album, as if Leonard Cohen, Brian Wilson, and Aaron Copland had a baby
Any album download link please!?
I can kind-of see these songs being used in a Wes Anderson film or something noir-ish.
Imagine this: Noah Baumbach directs it and Greta Gerwig is shown in the foreground reading a book, in a pastoral landscape.
Ever since their 2nd album came out, I've wanted to make a western with them doing the entire soundtrack.
@@parthjawale54 Too basic for such an epic song.

What's with the clipping
Anyone know what type of horns they were playing?
Ankit Kanotra Sounds like a trumpet, trombone, and some type of sax. Source: I play trumpet.
güzel 👍
This runs Grown Ocean close as best FF closer
picking up a pet sounds influence
Good call, I hear it for sure
