That transition into the second half is probably one of my favorites pieces of music of all time.. like the same kind of goosebumps I get listening to the Beatles
This is my all-time second favorite part of any song. My all-time favorite is phill Collins - in the air tonight. Something about the drums does something to me.
I always get an elemental vibe listening to Fleet Foxes. the previous works have had a more earthy tone to them, but this album has a watery feel to it. really love the occurring theme of being on "the other ocean" heard throughout the album.
Seems like most people didn't listen pat the first half of this song. Not that the beginning is even bad, but compared to the second half, it's hard to compare anything to that. Whole album is underrated though. First time I heard it, after comparing to their first two albums, it was so unapproachable, and didn't sound right. I had expected something different. But after listening to it earnestly, and truly listening to the music and lyrics, it quickly became my favorite album of all time. Amazing concept and so brilliantly executed. I wish it got the praise it deserves.
It was just such a shock to hear a fleet foxes album that wasn't immediately catchy. Looking back now I can really appreciate it though. It's probably my least favorite FF release, but even their worst record is still good
The start of this song is a path down a forest trail. As the listener comes out from the thickets, weary and yearning, they stop at the edge of a cliffside overlooking a truthful ocean. So peaceful.
This song always reminded me of the season's transition from Winter to Summer. Everything is so slow and quiet during the winter months, but as the seasons begin to change, everything starts waking up; The birds are more lively and the trees bud with baby greens. Before you know it, everything is bustling with life again, it's quite a beautiful transition.
Biding your time on the other ocean Falling into line in the cold and damp Wherever you run, you see all you leave behind you Lies inside Anyone you open on the other ocean On the other ocean, on the other ocean Was he not quite as you had conceived him? @@Ajbolt89 excuse me, can you please tell me what "Allliiiineedd" means? I'm asking because I serched the official lyrics up (their album Booklet) and it's not 'All I need' - which is what I hear - and instead are these bunch of letters together that COULD make sense but it doesnt' for me. Sorry, I'm not american or english native, I'm just trying to understand fully.
@@lilacheaven222 Thank you very much, can you help me understanding this part of the lyrics? According to their booklet, it's "turn any eye into the ivy" not "tune". With that in mind, he is saying that all he needs is to his eyes be turned into the ivy, and he's asking the person to not deny him this feat. Then, he says that he would lead this process of "turning into" in the morning, but then here's the part I don't get. "Oh won't even if I know it" He just said he would lead it, but then says he won't (specially after when he repeats that it's all he needs and asks to not be denied)? And what does "know" refers to? He won't do this to himself even if he knew HOW to do it? That's the only sentence that is intriguing me. Reminder: I'm not a native speaker.
Walking in my city at morning, I live in Venezuela, closer by the caribean seas, the tangible water and it's only another ocean but it's mine, and listening to this song today looking at the sea, and my internal ocean is claiming a prayer for my country and my soul, this songs helped me, always understanding about the magic of the music and life in every song of FF.
When I listen to this song with my headphones on I feel like I’m in another fucking universe where NOTHING matters except for me and his voice and the sound of each instrument.
Greatest modern example of a song that changes in the middle and hits so hard. I had listened to this album before and not known where that earworm hit, until I paid attention to note that it was in this particular track.
My friends, I too share your heartfelt emotion for these guys. The first concert I ever chose to go to in my whole life was a Fleet Foxes concert in Columbia, Maryland on September 23rd 2011. I will never forget that day.

Can you imagine seeing this live while a soft mist falls down amongst a rocky hillside surrounded by many many like-minded individuals? While the town below you glistens in the the fog? If they ever return to Red Rocks, be there.
I'll put my hands up and say I found this record very hard to get into. Then I realised it's not the same as FF and HB. It should be approached without any preconceptions or expectations. Sure, HB hints at this new direction in parts, but Crack-Up takes real work and investment unlike the former, rewarding you with every listen. It's also very much a 'headphones' record. I had it on in the car and missed so much. Hearing it live also really helped me to grasp the craft of it. Amazing.
I agree so much with the headphones sentiment. The whole piece sounds so much clearer and rich. I also found it helpful to not really listen to much Foxes for like 6 months and then I started listening to Crack-Up a whole lot and it totally hit different.
This song is so awesome! Great job! This song reminds me of the 70's. However, I don't think even those in that time could touch a song like that! Incredible!!!
I know people have their own likes and dislikes when it comes to music but please those 12 of you who dislike explain what is there to dislike absolutely beautiful ..voice backing ..guitar...there are many fools in life I pity you
Live at the Merriweather... June brought tears to my eyes..I think the hair on my arm stood through the whole set but this song moved me like nothing else at the show. . I barely have the words... thank you doesn't feel like justice... love.
I was in the forest going around listening to that. I sat down in the grass admiring the sun and the trees and put my hand in a dog shit. I didn't give a damn this song was so incredible in my ears and I had kleenex.

Is it on their actual album or was it a mistake for this TH-cam video? This version of tezeta is just amazing and I've always loved it and I'm shocked it's in the end of this song
The second half of this song is my new all-time favorite half of a song.
Scatha I KNOW
My thoughts exactly!
mulatu astatke tezeta is the name of the song at the very end
Right there w/ you!
The second half of this song is just... magical. That transition just melts into your ears.
I wish it could last forever.
The transition does something to me
Can we all agree that this song is just on a different level.
Would you say that it's
on another ocean?
The melody in the june section is incredible.
Still one of my favourite melodies ever, I remember just going "... the hell is that!?" when I first heard it.

Its a magical theory u know.. Just imagine if they make albums with themes like earth, water etc..
Cleansing, purifying, powerful 🙆
@Christopher Norris shore gave me more of an air theme tho
The June section is one of my favorite moments of the album. I have been listening to the NPR stream of this all week long.
Yeah the rhythm has that drive to it - so hoping to see them live! I might have to drive a bit but I gotta do it.

It happens at 2:06 mark of the song.
The June section of this track was worth the 6 year wait alone.
