I don’t think you are that soft, but enough about aesthetics already! It’s actually starting to have a really problematic effect. However, you ended the R word & for that, you are TOUGH AS NAILS! I begged people for years (my sibs both had chromosomal trisomies, we’re a 1 in a billion family!), but I never imagined it would happen so definitively and now you’re a known ahole if you use it. So…Thank you from the bottom of my crabby Gen X heart ❤❤❤❤❤

Also Gen X was the unlucky 13th American generation, and it seems that we are the dud predicted by 1994, and the Silent Gen are the 78&ups, and let’s face it, you prob forgot that there was a generation between “The Greatest” (obviously everyone criticized them too, we didn’t decide they were the greatest til around 2000) and the Boomers.

I thought it was a neurodivergence thing that I am so very pressed about how sick sneakers and boots for children are, but maybe it's just a 37-year-old thing. The dream is to dress like the 20-something TV personality of some unhinged kid's show from the late 90's.

though i will say this makes us excellent at customer service. the other day i had an older lady come to my register determined to hurt and destroy me but i was so polite and sorry and accommodating and sad sack that by the end of it she was trying to be nice to me and even apologized saying, "im sorry i know its the end of the night i didnt mean to, you know..." and i said, "i know," and smiled sadly at her and told her to have a good night.

THIS RIGHT HERE. I just turned 39. My dad was born in '46 so he was among the absolute boomerest of the Boomers and my mom was born in '58. They both had their own childhood traumas and did their best to do better as parents themselves. But, man, hypercritical is definitely one way to describe it. My dad was very set in his ways and was over-protective of me (which robbed me of a lot of normal teen experiences and taught me to be sneaky) while my mom was mostly pretty cool but she's always (even now) had the tendency to blow small things *completely* out of proportion. My dad passed in 2015 but my mom is still around. I love her dearly but she's so mean. 😅 Since coming to terms about my mental health struggles, she gets mad at me for not talking to her about things at least once a week. And it's like...but I learned long ago NOT to tell you things unless I want to deal with the absolute drama that will ultimately follow. That's the short version. It's a mess.

I joined the ranks of those concerned about riding health care costs and the possibility that I'll likely never retire, so don't think less of me when I continue to play Minecraft, do a paint-by-numbers, and still want my mom to brush my hair sometimes.
