I have been dipping my toes in the niche fragrance world for the last few months too, so it was very fun to watch this video and see what you've picked. We like so many of the same scents, and I had exactly the same reaction to Guerlain SDV -- way too much incense! Some other vanillas that might be worth trying for you: Celine Black Tie (a very cool girl, sophisticated iris-vanilla), Van Cleef & Arpel Vanilla Orchidee (a cozy dreamsicle almondy vanilla), Arquiste Architect's Club (a fizzy gin vanilla), Navitus Lost In A Dream (a lactonic pastry shop vanilla), and Lorenzo Pazzaglia Van Extasyx (the ultimate vanilla vanilla!).
The TH-camr Persolaise explains the obvious note thing in niche. It’s a trend and marketing thing to make people feel clever for being able to pick out the notes whereas traditional perfumery is more about a blended experience. Think Guerlain versus PDM x
That’s super cool, I’ll have to check out that video! Yeah I definitely like the blended experience because it makes me think that they’ve created something new and unique. But there are definitely occasion where I want to smell exactly like a lemon and I like that a niche scent can make that happen 😂

I’m definitely checking all of these out! I love fragrances with vanilla in it💜 Jo Malone needs to bring back Wisteria and Lavender perfume! I don’t know if you ever tried but it’s one of those fragrances where I wish I would’ve bought like 10 bottles for back up😩 Also have you tried Tom Ford’s Vanilla Sex? I’ve heard it smells divine!
I never smelled Wisteria & Lavender, but I HATE that Jo Malone makes some of their best scents limited edition 😩 I did smell Vanilla Sex, but I think it's one of those perfumes that I would have to wear on my skin to see if it's the "right" vanilla...it's a little more musky than I expected from the notes!
